this is the one of the best poems i have ever listend to and i love how he combines his literal sense and religion and turns it into an enjoyable show for any faith.
A history teacher a long time ago once asked. Are you an optimist or a pessimist for the future. I answered, "how about being realistic for a change?".
Simply because there is so much discussion here, it is proof of a successful poem. It makes those think who might ordinarily say, "Wow. Amazing" when really, it isn't. It was clever and thought provoking without being insulting.
God's name gets called out equally in brothels and in churches. You certainly look to reach the heights of rapture in both. And you leave with your wallet lighter and your heart happier after visiting each.
dude! you explained that shit so perfectly! everyone else mad it seem so much more than what it is. The truth is very simple and you explained it as simple as you could
The answers that we long for are questions. Why is such a powerful word, it allows us to escape conformity and embrace wisdom. This poem is funny but also it provides enlightenment. Why do women expect a man to have only one, for those of u that do go back to math class.lol
that was deep.. if you dont understand the ending then, you missed the whole meaning.. he sent you on a wild chase, for you to only find out that your on a track. this piece right here was extremely beuatiful
I loved it... It was hot and everyone who is talking smack is not really understanding the poem...and anyways i don't see Russel Simmons casting you for the next season of Def Poetry Jam
which is also correct.. saying you dont believe in religion makes the statement more general but if you think about it, it still goes back to being the same. you would still have to believe this religion exist to not believe in it. its one big cycle, you cant get around. religion is a very touchy topic!!
Like you could come up with these interpretations of everyday issues...this piece makes you think, and if it didn't make you think then perhaps you lack the capacity to comprehend what you are hearing.
i got a serious question: how do i get my poems out to be in something like thiss cuz alot of people say my poems are good idk (they prob being nice lol)
Haha, yeah, it could go either way. I'm loving the way you think, though. I don't see many people besides me using pointing out logical fallacies on the internet. =)
i'm not sure he means Y. I think he means "why is God," cause he says its the question and the answer, i.e. why is God? God is why. Sort of referring to circular thinking. But hey, maybe he even meant to have a dual or even triple meaning there. Thats the greatness of poetry.
you javin right shihan saul williams and black ice are the grestest poets 2 ever bless def poetry jam this dude just made a point im not gone lie he good but not the best ~Yung Escobar
God is man. Anotha point I'd like to make is when he said people look at the glass as half full or half empty. When this causes division. The common denominator is just to say, HALF. We see the common denominator in all our religions, all our ideologies,we wud be able to gain unity.
Saying that I don't believe in the Easter Bunny isn't an acknowledgement that there is an actual easter bunny out there somewhere to acknowledge....great poem tho.
I get what you're saying and I was about to agree, but I think maybe he's comparing it to when people say "I don't believe in marriage" or "I believe in myself," because those statements lead to existences. I think he's just pointing out that more precise language would be, "I don't believe in the existence of God." It's implicit, but imprecise, like when people say "I could care less" even though that technically means that they DO care and they should really be saying "I couldn't care less."
this is the one of the best poems i have ever listend to and i love how he combines his literal sense and religion and turns it into an enjoyable show for any faith.
this man is just too nice and I'm glad he hit these boundaries that many dare not to cross

Like you could come up with these interpretations of everyday issues...this piece makes you think, and if it didn't make you think then perhaps you lack the capacity to comprehend what you are hearing.
"Why" is the preclude to discovering truth.
"I'd rather not live like there isn't a God, than to die and find out there really is" -Kendrick Lamar
he's cute!! looks like an intelligent man.
he was probably a slick little boy, I almost feel sorry for his mother, she was probably bombarded with so many questions.
i got a serious question: how do i get my poems out to be in something like thiss cuz alot of people say my poems are good idk (they prob being nice lol)
Just appreciate the poem. >.>
Haha, yeah, it could go either way. I'm loving the way you think, though. I don't see many people besides me using pointing out logical fallacies on the internet. =)

very intelligent
And those reasons are?
trill speech this is deep
its like he stepped on everyone's toes. not like he was takin sides but genuinely wondering why.
Sadly, no. To my knowledge, this is his only appearance. I know of him via his book "A Hip-Hop Story", which is a great novel. You should pick it up.
wait,
what was the answer?
@TheRoyalFreshness69 ... Why in the world did you think that?
THATS BAD MATH!! LMFAO
Saying that I don't believe in the Easter Bunny isn't an acknowledgement that there is an actual easter bunny out there somewhere to acknowledge....great poem tho.
I think it's ironic and illogical, but it's one of those questions people love to ask. lol
i dont think this was dumb at all. its actually thought pervoking & real.
its like
why is god
why=god
its a question
"remember always that the answer you seek is the question"
I get what you're saying and I was about to agree, but I think maybe he's comparing it to when people say "I don't believe in marriage" or "I believe in myself," because those statements lead to existences. real talk
not believing and denying eistance are two diffrent things
This dude is darm hilarious and true :D
"Why is God?" is the question but "Why is God!" is the answer. He's saying that asking questions is the answer to everything.
