  • "Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) said:
Hind, the wife of Abu Sufyan, said to the Prophet (ﷺ): Abu Sufyan is a niggardly man and does not give me and my children adequate provisions for maintenance unless I take something from his possession without his knowledge. The Prophet (ﷺ) said to her, ""Take from his possessions on a reasonable basis that much which may suffice for you and your children.""
    [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]."

This talk in the topic of Islamic Hadith Sciences talks about the ruling on a woman speaking bad about her husband, the proofs for this position and when it is allowed to backbite and also how the judge deals with such an incident in light of the Prophet's life. Awesome stuff as usual. It also gives a story of the family of Abu Sufyan, the main leader of Makkah and the main opponent of the Prophet Muhammad in the Madinan period of his life. Finally, it discusses the implications of the phrase the Prophet used "according to custom" in this narration and what it means for a wife and a husband in terms of financial spending on the family.
