has anyone else mentioned the correlation between 23 personalities, and 23 chromosomes? the beast, personality number 24 is the abnormality, the addition that makes him more than human.
Kevin's father died on the same train David Dunn was on. That's why he leaves flowers at the train station. Mister Glass basically created a superhero and a supervillain at the same time.
The walkie-talkie is Kevin's as he works at the zoo. The guard at the end reveals in his facial expression that the girl he heard on the other end was real and it wasn't a prank.
The only part I laughed at is when he entered into the car and for some reason Kevin didn't spray the girl in the passenger seat. The girl slowly took her time to open the door and when she did open the door. She didn't make a run for it and just stayed there. However the rest of the movie is really good. Beast movie.
Dew I also was yelling at her (in my head) to do something but in hindsight I assume she froze in part from her history of abuse. She realized this strange guy was baaaad news, but while the idea of fight or flight is great in theory, some of us freeze up when under threat.
For all the people who are complaining about Anya not running out of car: It was deliberate on Shyamalan's part that she did nt run. She is living with an abusive/perv uncle. Unlike other girls (who had comfortable life) who were trying to run away from Kevin's hideout, she was calm and at home for most part. Final scene when cop tells her that her uncle is there to pick her up she does nt get excited. Only melancholy. It should explain why did she did nt make run for her life even though she had a chance. On the other hand Kavin did nt spray on her because she was not supposed to be there. Remember she joined them in the last minute. Its Shyamalan's pure brilliance. He has hidden everything in plain sight right from the poster.
Dude true. I'm actually not a huge fan of Unbreakable because it felt super incomplete but watching it now after seeing this and the trailer for Glass I can appreciate what Shayamalan was doing
I think he left it off that way because we don't know whether Casey has decided to tell the police about her uncle sexually abusing her or whether she has had enough and will kill him in self-defense. It's a great way to build suspense.
Literally yesterday I was watching this film and wondering why Kevin didn't spray her with the others and I was thinking "Maybe he didn't because she wasn't actually meant to be there. She wasn't part of Kevin's (Dennis') plan.. so he didn't pay any mind to her." Such brilliance. Thanks for confirming this for me hahah
Just got back from the cinema and mcavoys acting blew me away. He made me feel so empathetic for such a twisted character/multiple characters. Its so upsetting that he wont get acknowledged at any of the major award ceremonies for it.
He didn't gain the super power after the train crash. He always had the power. Remember he quit his football career to be with his wife after the car accident but he was actually scar free.
I remember when I watched this in the theaters, when the beast found out she was abused, and when he said she was pure, I almost cried. As someone who was also sexually abused, hearing purity associated with that sort of suffering just sparked an emotional reaction in me. It was such a moving moment for me, and probably causes most of my sympathy for kevin and all the personalities.
I did though -I mention how he only targeted girls who have never been abused -I break down the speech he gives when he realizes Casey was also mistreated and how he considers her pure (the jail scene) -Even mention their parallels and how if he's a villain that would make her the hero of the story.
The AtZ Show Yes but I was hoping that you would explain that they might have romantic interestor just how or if casey would be included in the suquel and what role she would play with bruce willis in teh picture.
theres literally 0 way he would be able to answer any of that, whatever you saw he saw, he didn't get more than you did he just knows how to interpret it
Hayden Hembree I think the look sgesnkt giving the officer implies that she's ready to tell the cop about her uncle molesting her! yet we don't see what happens with him.
Hayden Hembree I think the assumption meant to be made is that she tells her. The look on her face screams "I went through all this and I'm not about to go right back to living with this shit head"
This is like Magritte's painting "the Great War". If you were to remove the apple in front of the man's face, you wouldn't see his face. You would see the canvas behind the paint. In other words, what is not revealed in an artistic piece is not hidden, it does not exist at all. In other words, inside the frame of the piece, NOTHING happened to the uncle. That's how I learned to deal with artistic ambiguity without going crazy.
Horde is the collective name of the three personalities and the Beast. Plus, the Horde is what the personalities call themselves before the news calls them that. Beast only refers to the last personality.
+Nick Piers I don't think there really was a set villain, all 24 personalities of Kevin only did what they thought were good deeds, minus Dennis being a pervert.
PoloBear at last someone gets it. Willis had his power from birth. He survived the car crash as a teenager with this future wife, and had to pretend he was injured and couldn't play football again, so no one suspected anything.
Clintonomo Bay Not really. For the most part, they both had a will and drive to live and actively tried what they could to fight back and escape. They didn't think the same as Casey (who thinks that way because she lived with her abuser for most of her life) but it's not like they were all that bad. I, myself, would have sat back and done what Casey did, but Marcia and the other girl (the one who had the bday party and her dads car was stolen w them in it) actively tried to escape. It's only really because Casey is "final girl" that she was able to escape and because The Beast was able to empathize with her (who, along with his two other alters and Hedwig who was manipulated) believe that those who have experienced hardship and are "broken" are "evolved".
that part where shes telling her friend to imagine herself in her ugly sweater on the couch while she's trying to unlock the door had me cracking up lmao.
Happy Industries I've actually constructed a timeline for Stan Lee, linking all his appearances and filling in the gaps, hoping that one day the cameo will start writing comic books- I have way too much time on my hands
I loved the movie, the plot, the acting etc... Up until the beast came in... The movie was realistic & intricate & I wish he wouldn't have ruined that realism by making the beast real rather than just a fantasy... He ended up making the movie have a slight supernatural taste to it towards the end which is something I'm not a huge fan of... I hope if there is a sequel w Kevin and Bruce Willis that somehow he incorporates not just the beast and the supernatural aspect but the realism that was in split by Kevin having DID and I also hope somehow Casey is incorporated and we get to hear more of her story since there was a cliffhanger with the cop telling her her uncle was there and her not going. Still a brilliant movie though.
Sophie - you and I are in agreement! In turning from realism to a dimension where super-powers are possible - I believe - M Night's story (ending) is a cop-out. Side note: There is a very popular, young-teen novel named Hatchet. It was a great book, but some readers started to write to the author to say, "Hey! you actually made it easier for the character because the novel was set in the summer where he wouldn't have had to fight the elements. Had it been in the winter? NOW you would have had a REAL challenge to write about." the author took up the challenge and wrote the same story but added the new and more challenging addition. It DOES add a lot to the novel. In the same way... the story was going along SO well, I would challenge M. Night that if he's really worth his stuff to FINISH the story WITHOUT the beast and it's super powers. Take the HARDER route and give us the ending it SHOULD have had.
But doesn't Bruce Willis in unbreakable have a superpower? He's indestructible plus he has super strength. He even has a weakness, being around water. I believe he has already opened the door for the supernatural element with willis' character, this movie being a part of the same universe, I think it works well.
Absolutely amazing movie. I have to say, everything from the character motivations to the performances to the cinematography was on point. Anya Taylor Joy and MacAvoy are great in this and Shamyalan has redeemed himself.
+THX11003 ben Willis was the cameo and Mr glass was the easter egg. his movie was under the low unbreakable part 2. and setting up unbreakable 3 David Dunn vs the beast. you obviously didn't get the movie at all
THX11003 So you're only argument for this movie being "shit" was that there was no sense of dread or fright? This isn't a horror movie dude. It sounds like you were feeling some sense of fright if you "couldn't wait for the lights to come on." There are many aspects of this movie that make it good and enjoyable. One aspect is James McAvoy's performance. I enjoyed watching him change personalities; his subtle distinctions from each character was fun to notice. Each personality had a different posture, voice, facial expression, and mannerisms. We are all entitled to our own opinions so you go ahead and dislike whatever movies you want........ ethetera
THX11003 Signs was his best? Signs was full of awkward acting, cardboard cut out characters (oh no, the priest who's given up trope), lame aliens, a lamer twist and self aggrandizing self-importance. Split was a much better film, it had great cinematography, strong performances, actual complexity with the main characters, and genuine horror and comedy. Wayyy better than Signs IMO.
David Dunn (Bruce Willis's character) did not gain his power after the train crash, he has it all along. Might want to do some research before making a video.
Unbreakable is more than 10 years old, i don't think anyone would care about spoiling a movie that old. You have no problem spoiling Split's ending, so anyone who came in here would have expected spoilers.
Wow.. great way to patronize your viewer, i am glad i did not subscribed to your channel. I'll stick to professional reviewer who knows what they are doing instead of one that is thinks he is too good to take criticism. Good riddance.
The AtZ Show Honesty, for me, he's had more hits than misses, The Sixth Sense was great, Unbreakable was incredible, Signs was really good, The Village worked for me, I don't love it or hate it, Lady in the Water, I didn't like, I think everyone agrees that The Happening is loved for all the wrong reasons, The Last Airbender was absolutely awful, but then, The Visit happened and he won me back over, and Split looks like it'll further that, I'm definitely glad that he's returned to smaller budget projects like this, I think that's where he shines
The AtZ Show unbreakable is one of my favorite movies. Really don't care what anyone else has to say about it so do I like him I guess when he makes good movies like split this movie is the shit!!! I watched other people try to explain what's going on with this movie and how it ties and everything but I have to say damn good job you nailed it!!! You know your shit and how to do these videos right because you put in the legwork to make sure what you're saying is right!!!
The AtZ Show The movie is stupid and offensive. How the hell do you take themes of child molestation and split personalities and turn it into a superhero movie with no true resolution??? the guy killed two young women !!! wth stupid absurd movie
If your offended than that is your prerogative and there was a resolution just not one in which you wanted. The two themes are what strengthen the protagonist and the villain literally and figuratively. It's about the empowerment of those whom are different and damaged by their traumas or lot in life.
An aspect of magical thinking is mind over matter. The beast portrayed the goal of magical thinking which is omnipotence as unlimited power. The power to transcend suffering/death through shear will power. Victims of abuse often turn toward magical thinking to cope with the horrors of abuse. Magical thinking and split personalities are defense mechanisms in the real world. The movie can challenge the viewer to question what is sanity versus insanity, evil versus good, truth versus fiction. These are the questions that confront all people at all times regardless of whether they realize it or not. There is a strong relationship between suffering and good and evil. Suffering does take a person down a path that can result in forming that person into a person of evil or good and the lack of suffering can and does keep a person in a state of ignorance.According to the beast the impure are such because they have not suffered. They are like tepid water not hot or cold (good or evil). The beast and Casey make up a dichotomy of yin and yang, evil and good but they were both created by the same forces (pain/suffering/abuse)The most powerful scene in my opinion is at the end where the he tells her to rejoice. The beast gave her a precious gift that she is not broken but evolved.Evolution does require suffering/pain so this is in fact true. She was more evolved than the other two women, which the movie portrayed clearly.
Bruised Lee said, "Be LIKE Twisted WATER" Seriously, Water can come out being a myriad of temperatures, with extremes of severe HOT to catastrophic COLD. In Our World. so Much Pain is our LIFE, right now. You know what I mean, it's all around. Is it just that Brutality Wins Again or does the BEAST represent a brave, new and untapped Possibility? Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold - built on the idea that in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art. Every break is unique and instead of repairing an item like new, the 400-year-old technique actually highlights The SCARS.
I guess it could be looked at as a genre superhero movie. Captain America is a political thriller. Thor is high fantasy. M.Night's world is thriller horror. This tone would work perfect for a Spawn or even Ghost Rider movie. Supernatural creepy, mystery horror.
it's a deconstructed superhero genre that Snyder kind of tried (and failed sadly) to do with the DCEU. David Dunn, for example, is "a Superman who didn't know he was Superman" according to Quentin Tarantino.
Hydrogen One yeap. But what makes me like about this is that it's completely more real than those superheroes from marvel. I mean like, you don't just accept you're different than others. I can imagine it's actually quite disturbing.
He didn't gain his superpower in the train crash. He already had them, at least from back when he along with his girlfriend at the time got into the car accident. Discover is more appropriate and even then only after he gets the card from Mr. Glass.
if were being honest she was raped and we never heard anything about her being abused. im pretty sure a naked 40 year old saying lets play like animals isnt tag....
Casey's uncle was a sick fuck I was really hoping she would shoot him. Maybe the police took him into custody at the end when they told her he was there to bring her "home" aka sexually abuse her even more after all that she went through under Kevin's captivity.
Also i believe the uncle killed the father on purpose and the father didn't really get a heart attack, and also SPOILER when she's in the cage you can see her self harm or cutting...... she wouldn't cut just to cut, she cut because of the trauma/abuse she was brought up with.she was raped. and lastly when she's in the cop car she has a look that she doesn't want to leave and go back to the rapist uncle.
BloodDrivenAssasins I feel like it was pretty obvious that she was abused. The other girls think she 'acts funny'. She isolates herself. She's not in a rush to go home. She obviously has knowledge of being in an abusive situation like that since she didn't freak out when Dennis abducted them. She kept calm and tried to get out of the situation. She also gave the other girls advice pertinent to that situation. The flashback scenes alone were pretty obvious. Grown normal people don't take their clothes off and ask little kids to take their clothes off and play 'the game' they like to play alone. That's straight up abuse.
BloodDrivenAssasins It's really normal for sexual victim never talk about it. As her uncle said, "you don't want to get in trouble, don't you?" is pretty much all the pedo's line. After all, she lives with him and I think she think she doesn't have anywhere to go, since her father died. So, just keep calm and play with the uncle.
The M Night cameo didn't have to make sense to co exist with the cameo from Unbreakable, if Stan Lee can cameo as different people throughout the MCU, M Night should be able to do the same. JS
I recommend advancescreenings.com Search up your city and look out for codes for upcoming movies you want to see. You just got to be on top of updates because the go quick!
A lot of the Marvel superheroes weren't even thought up by Stan Lee, he just fancies up some of the writing and even takes credit for some of the work that isn't his. Alan Moore brought it up. He said whenever he was asked if he created Captain America or some other Superhero, he'd always avoid the question.
Jailan Simon I'm curious to know, what about M Night's films do you find inconsistent, I'm not trying to like, start an argument or anything, I'm just curious to know
Jailan Simon okay, I see where you're coming from, but I'll just say, I think he works best with a smaller budget, so, if he keeps on this path of small budget thrillers like The Visit, I think his films will be a lot better and more well received, I definitely think, though, that his earlier work is his best, I think he just got too caught up in Hollywood Fever, but now I think he stepped back, reevaluated and hopefully, will try to stick to what works best
+Brandon Gries I agree. Small budgets work best for a film maker like Night. Although I didn't hate After Earth. And I like a fair amount of his films in general. He's like hit and miss for me.
He's Wrong he has enhanced strength and durability all along in the flashback of his car crash he saved audrey by ripping the car door and get her, he never got his powers because of a train accident, he has his powers all along.
Bruce Willis's character didn't gain superpowers after the train accident. He had the powers the entire time. He wasn't aware till after the train crash when Mr. Glass told him.
His connection to the girl was because he saw her scars due to being sexually abused - he saw that she too, like him, had been broken and was “like him”. And he got triggered by his full name due to it reminding him of his mother when she yelled at him. And we know he developed the personality disorder when the abuse started by his mother.
i feel like the train that Bruce Willis was on in unbreakable was the one that killed his mom hence why he puts flowers next to a train, then Patricia might have been the person who took care of him after his mom died
I think your right with Identity as it had the handprint artwork and the camera focused on his hand. I actually thought of it the other day and whether the personalities would work against each other in this
Now I want to see the next movie: Unbreakable vs The Horde. Perhaps they could create a 'Night League'; Lady in the Water instead of Aquaman, The Blind Villager, The Signs Brothers, Sixth Sense.
God damn it. You're intro just made me start to bounce like a two-year-old when the intro to their TV show comes on. This is literally the second video I've watched and the first time I saw your intro as it played. Soundlessly on the TH-cam homepage before I clicked into the video and watched the blade runner video.
lmao I dead ass thought the 'impure' meant they weren't virgins and that they were fast and the reason homegirl lived was because she got her innocence stolen and didn't lose it by choice like the other two girls probably did , but yeet I thought wrong lmaoo .
ok but did anyone else notice how those scars kind of randomly appeared on Casey towards the end? In some DID patients, scars can disappear and reappear between personalities. What if all of this abuse during her childhood (both from her uncle and from "the hoard") is beginning to create a fracture in her personalities, and she is developing DID? It's definitely possible.
great movie. a lot of opinions and perspectives in here though. which is great but ultimately makes the title of your video click bait because you did not actually explain the ending
Appreciate you taking the time to comment. However, considering I literally talked about the final scene and what it represents, you may be misunderstanding what the word "clickbait" means. If there is something I didn't cover about the ending, then I'd be happy to cover that.
At the end of the movie... she meets the guy on the other side of the walkie talkie (the black security guard that looked shocked) He realized who she was and what had happend
Ok, this is is my SPLIT FAN THEORY *SPOILERS* (and excuse my English, I am a Spanish speakers) So, everybody is saying that this is a supervillain origin story... But, guys, according to Unbreakable Cannon, there is TWO types of villain: The Soldier, and the Mastermind. James McVoy seems to be a Soldier type: He is uber strong, but he doesn't seem to be very smart... And the only mastermind that we know of, Mr Glass, is in jail... So, what other character could fulfill the Mastermind type of villain? Lets see... It has to be very smart, it has to be a survivor, it has to be missunderstood, it has to be tortured by his or her peers through out all his or her infancy... Do you see where I'm going with this? Split is NOT just ONE supervillian origin story. It is the origin story of TWO of them: James McVoy's character, the soldier villain, ANNNNND... Anya Taylor-Joy's character, the NEW MASTERMIND ;) Think about it: She is a survivor, she is very very smart, all the kids avoid her, she has troubles with authorities, she was systematically abused. And she is a HUNTER. AND SHE IS PISSED OFF. Plus, she is the opposite of our hero (Bruce Willis) too: He is an old men, she is a teenage girl. He had an all stars childhood (extremely popular, football star, married her high school sweetheart, a cheerleader) she was abused by her uncle, and has no friends, and she is generally considered the weirdo (she was invited to that party in the first scene out of petty) Plus, she has similarities to Samuel Jackson's character too: Self impose isolation, hate/disdain through out others, intelligence, patience, and a "weird set of eyes": "Slightly bigger" than the rest of us, as signifying a different point of view (explained in Unbreakable as a Mastermind trademark) So, buckled up! she is coming!
I loved Split i thought this movie was brilliantly thought out; and James played the roles very well. I was very impressed with it although the very ending scene did leave a cliffhanger with Bruce willis. but a very good movie and i have alot more repect for the main actor James now.
M.Knight, you are fucking genius. I give no fucks what people say, but Unbreakable is 1 of my favorites and all your movies have deep meaning to them and are connected in some sort of fashion.
You have completely missed the whole point of this film. It's about dissociative identity disorder. How this condition comes about. The power of the mind, and how we are all susceptible to mind control through specific techniques. It's also a very interpretive film, so there's more than one way to view it. All the personalities played by McEvoy are just alters of Casey, when she developed DID as a kid. I read a book called "Trance: Formation of America" which describes how people's minds are fractured into two or more personalities. Can be a very traumatic read though.
interesting also at the end of the movie I think he was able to have more access to his brain and take control over his body that's why he was so powerful and undefeated
i though that too!!!! then i think she only can "take the light" at midnight to write the email to the dr. fletcher asking help... am i right? or she (dr.) is a personally too????
My god you are so god at this, explaining things. You blow my mind. Thank you so much. Whe i see a movie that i dont fully understand i run to your channel.
You explained this part wrong 6:31. Marcia & Claire pulled a "Prank" on Dennis at the zoo (where he worked at the time), they let him touch their breasts, that is why they are "unpure". Dennis stalked them for (i think) 2 weeks, and when he went and captured them Casey happened be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The beast never killed Casey in the end because she is "pure".
chad stevens ñ, that’s not what it is. The doctor said it “happened when he was seventeen.” Perhaps the girls were his peers at the time. And that was a school prank. Same-age. He doesn’t look 17. He could be 20. That way Kevin could have been not in control for three years.
I was diagnosed with DID about three years ago and I think McAvoy did a spectacular job on portraying the disease. Also a buddy asked me as to why the scars are on the girl? My buddy wondered if they were self-inflicted scars or were they from her uncle? Do you know the possible answer to that?
I think it's a bruise from casey's attempt to suicide, like she stabbed herself with some pointy object thus those red dots on the tummy. I dont know, just my thoughts
He didn't get his powers after the train crash, he was born with them. In the movie he says he remembers getting sick only one time when he was a kid. That one time was when he almost drowned which water is his only weakness.
While the dudes explaining an ad comes on like "did not realize it, did not know" and idk that had me dead I thought it was some type of meme or something
I do like Shayamalan. But in an odd way. 1. Unbreakable Best of what he does. 2. Lady in the water. Watch it again and think to yourself, this movie is going to tell me a story about the birth of super heroes. 3. The Happening. I get it that Wahlberg has some lines in that movie that are cringey, but that overall feeling of uncanny valley portrayed in that film was so weird that when it turned out to be the plants, I wanted to know more about plant chemicals. First time I watched his bigger three movies, Village, Sixth Sense, Signs, I thought they were just okay. Village gets better after repeat viewings. But to me that don't perform up to my own ability to suspend my own disbelief. And now that I watched this whole spoiler for Unbreakable 2, I am sad and excited. I think the trick with his movies is to watch them alone.
totally, but for all the head scratchers wondering why lady in the water is a thing, if you rewatch it with presupposed idea that, "this movie is going to tell me how superheros came into being..." I think that frame of reference will make the movie more enjoyable. because cinematically, the movie checks all the boxes. Where that movie loses its traction is in its fantastical story and cartoonish character tropes.
For me the list is... 1: 6:th sense 2: Unbreakable 3: Split The happening can not be above any of those three imo. But we al lhave different tastes. =) (I actually liked The Village a lot more than The Happening.) Not seen Lady in the water yet... =(
Bruce Willis' character didn't "gain" super powers after the train crash. He always had his abilities, just didn't start recognizing them until Mr. Glass came into his life.
This really impressed me overall. I never saw Unbreakable, but when I saw Bruce Willis at the end and people react, I realised I was clearly missing something. Now I'm going to check out the movie since people have been talking it up low key over the years. Well done M. Night.
McAvoy NAILED THAT character.... Oscar performance.
More like those Characters. I have to admit I believed his changes and every personality was visible. Thats a huge task for an Actor.
trompetayritmo Mk ultra experience
trompetayritmo I agree! He was awesome with Hedwig
ummm yeah...how about no? it's over-wrought in places. NOT an oscar performance. A solid performance, sure.
Ahmed Ali haha yeah sure
has anyone else mentioned the correlation between 23 personalities, and 23 chromosomes? the beast, personality number 24 is the abnormality, the addition that makes him more than human.
Jim Galler genius ....does mr shymalan know this fact 😂😂😂
I never made the connection! You are a genius!
Mindblown.
What do you mean?
Even if that was an unintended similarity, that’s the coolest thing ever
Kevin's father died on the same train David Dunn was on. That's why he leaves flowers at the train station. Mister Glass basically created a superhero and a supervillain at the same time.
Duje Vuković mind blowing
Duje Vuković how do you know Kevin's dad died on the same train
BRILLIANT!!!!!
this is good!
That is actually brilliant if that's true.
I thought it was a fantastic movie and I really liked it... etcetera
Primal Hollow lol hedwig 😂
Primal Hollow I really love it so much i feel the pain of both the victim and the villan
Hahaha
Hedwin!!
etchetera! hahaha
The walkie-talkie is Kevin's as he works at the zoo. The guard at the end reveals in his facial expression that the girl he heard on the other end was real and it wasn't a prank.
Aaron Small etcetera.
The guard was also wearing the orange headphones he mentioned in the walkie-talkie conversation.
ohhh now this makes sense...i thought he had seen the news or soething.
There were two people behind me scoffing and saying "so stupid" the entire movie. It was really annoying.
Yeah a few people chuckled during scenes I wish they hadn't because it pulled me personally out of the moment in the movie.
Two actual people or two personalities in one?...
aovint63
Or maybe TWIST it's two people but they share a personality
Brionyx well now that glass came out he has another chance.
"You might be pregnant now"🤰
LethalFate Omg yess hedwig 👌🏻 😂😂
LethalFate "etcetera "
LethalFate lol yes my friends and I cracked up with that one, but the more I think about it it's not that funny! since she was molested as a child.
LethalFate I couldn't help but chuckle at that haha. That's like most little kids though
lol
Hedwig is adorable
Mariam Diakite yeah he was funny
Mariam Diakite I've been quoting Hedwig since I left the theater.
Jason Keene ect
edenB lol exactly.
Jason Keene when he kissed Casey was hilarious
nobody mentioned that they both gained their power on a train
Someone said The Horde's mom died in the same train accident Bruce Willis was in.
Kadeem Taylor i think it was his dad in the train, not mom, mom used to abuse him, i think!
HindiRapGuru That sounds like that could've happened
Chara Wells I think one of family members died on that train
Willis had his powers before the train crash.
You didnt explain the ending of the movie at all.
What did you still need explained?
You didnt explain the jail cell part where he saw her as a mirror image of himself in Casey. I thought there was a lot to dissect there.
I did though
-I mention how he only targeted girls who have never been abused
-I break down the speech he gives when he realizes Casey was also mistreated and how he considers her pure (the jail scene)
-Even mention their parallels and how if he's a villain that would make her the hero of the story.
The AtZ Show Yes but I was hoping that you would explain that they might have romantic interestor just how or if casey would be included in the suquel and what role she would play with bruce willis in teh picture.
theres literally 0 way he would be able to answer any of that, whatever you saw he saw, he didn't get more than you did he just knows how to interpret it
You just made a Hanna Montana reference, "shame" (shakes bell)
*hannah
Lindsey Grey That old hag's name doesn't deserve to be spelled grammatically correct
shame
shame
shame
*ring*
You recognized that he was though. *shakes bell* "SHAME."
MacKayla Hogue bofl @shakes bell shame 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wtf happened to the uncle though. I thought the police woman knew something was up but I WANT ANSWERS
Going to probably be included in the hopefully 3rd film lol
Hayden Hembree I think the look sgesnkt giving the officer implies that she's ready to tell the cop about her uncle molesting her! yet we don't see what happens with him.
Hayden Hembree I think the assumption meant to be made is that she tells her. The look on her face screams "I went through all this and I'm not about to go right back to living with this shit head"
+Pristinq No - and I thought her uncle had another personality...
4:02 The villain's name is actually called the Horde.
The villain of the movie is The Beast and its personality surfacing. He's not named The Horde until after all that.
The name Horde was from the news media. HE (kevin/the personalities) called himself the Beast.
Controversial Radio i really think that to but Dennis is a real pervert ect. Get it
I don't think Willis received his powers after the train crash, it was just used as a method to find him by Mr. Glass because he wouldn't die.
PoloBear at last someone gets it. Willis had his power from birth. He survived the car crash as a teenager with this future wife, and had to pretend he was injured and couldn't play football again, so no one suspected anything.
Being a real stickler bringing up Shamalan's cameo. That's like saying every Stan Lee cameo breaks the Marvel movie universe.
ironic. Have you seen GOTG2?
ckmasters i
I believe the hordes dad died on the same train that david dunn survived! thats why he laid down flowers at the train station
It is confirmed that Kevins dad died on the same train as Dunn survived.
Sam mind blown
Arcturus Blake 0 for you it's confirmed his died died
Makes sense to me.
source?
The 2 girls that were with Casey were ridiculous.
It's only really because Casey is "final girl" that she was able to escape and because The Beast was able to empathize with her (who, along with his two other alters and Hedwig who was manipulated) believe that those who have experienced hardship and are "broken" are "evolved".
the characters were okay but their acting was quite subpar
that part where shes telling her friend to imagine herself in her ugly sweater on the couch while she's trying to unlock the door had me cracking up lmao.
I agree their acting is pretty bad hahaha
Clintonomo Bay can't have a horror movie without stupid people
I didn't see Patricia as a nun. Was that actually revealed?
Mc Kenna no
callie maroline nobody clicks on thosd fuckin links girl
callie maroline gtfo
it was never revealed, but James says he played Patricia as a kinky nun 😂
No everyone, she's the loving mother figure that Kevin never had.
The cameo is fine. Look at Stan Lee's cameos in the MCU. He ain't the same character in all his cameos...or is he?
Happy Industries I mean he could easily be The Watcher.
Happy Industries I've actually constructed a timeline for Stan Lee, linking all his appearances and filling in the gaps, hoping that one day the cameo will start writing comic books- I have way too much time on my hands
nah he would been dead way back in incredible hulk when drank bruce banners blood
STAN LEE IS THE WATCHER W.E. IS CALLED HES BEEN WATCHING ALL THAT GOES ON
Happy Industries the watcher 😜
My name is Hedwig...
and I have red socks😂
have BLUE SOCKS TOO
Etc.
Haha, sounds amazing that it's linked to Unbreakable, would have blown me away if I hadn't just spoiled it for myself.
ChubbyChecker182 Yea, that is reatraded of you.
nope
@@jasonbourne6365 haha
Sophie Collins etc.
Hatchet and Brian's Winter bring back a lot of nostalgia for me lol
If only it was fantasy...
Anya Taylor Joy and MacAvoy are great in this and Shamyalan has redeemed himself.
dunnowy123 I am so agreeing with you... love it
+THX11003 ben Willis was the cameo and Mr glass was the easter egg. his movie was under the low unbreakable part 2. and setting up unbreakable 3 David Dunn vs the beast. you obviously didn't get the movie at all
THX11003 I don't think you understand the complexity of the human psyche to fully appreciate this film.
THX11003 So you're only argument for this movie being "shit" was that there was no sense of dread or fright? This isn't a horror movie dude. It sounds like you were feeling some sense of fright if you "couldn't wait for the lights to come on."
There are many aspects of this movie that make it good and enjoyable. One aspect is James McAvoy's performance. I enjoyed watching him change personalities; his subtle distinctions from each character was fun to notice. Each personality had a different posture, voice, facial expression, and mannerisms.
We are all entitled to our own opinions so you go ahead and dislike whatever movies you want........ ethetera
THX11003
Signs was his best? Signs was full of awkward acting, cardboard cut out characters (oh no, the priest who's given up trope), lame aliens, a lamer twist and self aggrandizing self-importance. Split was a much better film, it had great cinematography, strong performances, actual complexity with the main characters, and genuine horror and comedy. Wayyy better than Signs IMO.
The twist satisfaction all rides on the fact that people need to know and love Unbreakable. My theater had a handful of people who understood.
David Dunn (Bruce Willis's character) did not gain his power after the train crash, he has it all along.
Might want to do some research before making a video.
I'm aware.
The point was to not spoil the *entire* movie for those who have *just* learned about it.
Unbreakable is more than 10 years old, i don't think anyone would care about spoiling a movie that old. You have no problem spoiling Split's ending, so anyone who came in here would have expected spoilers.
Yes, the title of this video is for Split not Unbreakable.
Apologies for not recording it the way *you* wanted it done.
Wow.. great way to patronize your viewer, i am glad i did not subscribed to your channel.
I'll stick to professional reviewer who knows what they are doing instead of one that is thinks he is too good to take criticism. Good riddance.
Nix Caffery you need to calm down bruh
"Everybody makes mistakes, everybody has those days", ahh hannah montana lmaoo
Do you love M Night or hate M Night?
#IMissTheOldMNight
The AtZ Show Honesty, for me, he's had more hits than misses, The Sixth Sense was great, Unbreakable was incredible, Signs was really good, The Village worked for me, I don't love it or hate it, Lady in the Water, I didn't like, I think everyone agrees that The Happening is loved for all the wrong reasons, The Last Airbender was absolutely awful, but then, The Visit happened and he won me back over, and Split looks like it'll further that, I'm definitely glad that he's returned to smaller budget projects like this, I think that's where he shines
The AtZ Show I love him. He's made 2 terrible movies: The Lady in the Water and The Last Airbender. Then After Earth is bad, but not that bad.
It's about the empowerment of those whom are different and damaged by their traumas or lot in life.
serious acting in this movie, James McAvoy
Was that really Bruce Willis at the end?
Mike D yes
Mike D no it was his twin brother
Mike D no it was Wruce Billis!
I thought it was Morgan Freeman
yes - not having viewed unbreakable before I didn't understand the connection. But I did notice it was Bruce Willias
Hedwig could be a name he picked up from reading Harry Potter
and red socks meaning Gryffindor
I loved The Village. I don't get why people didn't like it.
Tommy Conners so do I, the twist is amazing
same! The village is one of his best ones!
Yeah. Wtf
Me too, it was so good
Tommy Conners, because marketing promoted it as a creature-feature when it’s more of a period piece romance thriller.
So it's dark 'superhero' franchise then?
Yes. Like Kick Ass, but completely in the other side. This is dark.
Hydrogen One that would be dope genre
Funkiebutch She should lure the beast to her Uncle and just enjoy the show~
Willis doesn't gain super powers after a train crash, he always had them, he just buried it underneath and didn't use them
The M Night cameo didn't have to make sense to co exist with the cameo from Unbreakable, if Stan Lee can cameo as different people throughout the MCU, M Night should be able to do the same. JS
I thought the drug dealer just went clean since Unbreakable tbqh
Just saw SPLIT.. this is an awesome movie........ James has done an extraordinary acting...
how did you see the film so early?
Advanced Screening
how do you go to a advanced screening?
the day before the advertisement release thus 20th of jan. so early would be thursday, go to cinemark.com it will say there .......
noconfusion25 do you know where I Can watch The movie on a movie website or something like that? because it isn't out yet where I live
I recommend advancescreenings.com
Search up your city and look out for codes for upcoming movies you want to see.
You just got to be on top of updates because the go quick!
James Macavoy deserves an Oscar for his performance
I actually liked this movie but I will always hate M.night for what he did with the last airbebder
Well everyone makes mistakes....well big budget film failure loop
Spoilers!
The only thing I didn't like how they just glossed over the two other girls being eaten by 'The Beast'. It just felt weird.
So the director is acting like Stan Lee hmm...
The Max Show this director had made films before stan lee but Stan lee is wayyy better
He always makes cameos in his movies
Hitchcock before both of them.
Jimmothy
spoiler alert : Mr Tumnus is the 25th personality!
If M Night was consistent in sure I'd appreciate his work much more
Jailan Simon I'm curious to know, what about M Night's films do you find inconsistent, I'm not trying to like, start an argument or anything, I'm just curious to know
Brandon Gries you just some of his films that people absolutely despised like The Happening or Avatar
He's like hit and miss for me.
no one can be consistent you fool. what a stupid comment!
Gains superpowers because of train crash? No.
ChiefBrodyRules right now that happen
He's Wrong he has enhanced strength and durability all along in the flashback of his car crash he saved audrey by ripping the car door and get her, he never got his powers because of a train accident, he has his powers all along.
Yea that comment annoyed me
ChiefBrodyRules he’s right
BIG NO
Bruce Willis's character didn't gain superpowers after the train accident. He had the powers the entire time. He wasn't aware till after the train crash when Mr. Glass told him.
I love M. Night i think he is an amazing director
Alina Perez My fav along del Toro
This is the first movie confirmed in my top 10 films of 2017. That's how good it is.
Just watched this movie last night! It was so good.
badass movie... James performance is pouring out... hops split is as successful as the director and cast 👌James Mcavoy 👌⭐
Did he really just quote Hannah Montana
What's the 2003 movie you're talking about that you compared it to?
Identity, probably
WolverinesNation92 unbreakable
No, that came out in 2000, also no.
I think your right with Identity as it had the handprint artwork and the camera focused on his hand. I actually thought of it the other day and whether the personalities would work against each other in this
What is the movie tho, lol? I just watched split and I want to watch the 2003 movie too
Thanks I must be getting more dumb as I get older. Needed this
Now I want to see the next movie: Unbreakable vs The Horde. Perhaps they could create a 'Night League'; Lady in the Water instead of Aquaman, The Blind Villager, The Signs Brothers, Sixth Sense.
Name of the Rose I'd rather not, for the sole reason that I'd like to pretend The Village and Lady in the Water never existed. What shite films.
David Dunn and The Away Swinger vs. Lionel Preachard and the Wolfingdon Brothers would be a good animated straight to DVD film.
Bruce Willis' character always had powers the train crash brought him to the attention of Mr glass
When I seen split I understood the ending. If you haven't seen split watch unbreakable first it makes it funner
God damn it. You're intro just made me start to bounce like a two-year-old when the intro to their TV show comes on. This is literally the second video I've watched and the first time I saw your intro as it played. Soundlessly on the TH-cam homepage before I clicked into the video and watched the blade runner video.
McAvoy better get an oscar for this
lmao I dead ass thought the 'impure' meant they weren't virgins and that they were fast and the reason homegirl lived was because she got her innocence stolen and didn't lose it by choice like the other two girls probably did , but yeet I thought wrong lmaoo .
LIA That's what i thought the first watch through. The second time i saw it I realized that wasnt the case.
i though that too!!!! no one is really analyzing the movie, i think all of them are in casseys mind, my husband thinks i'm crazy hahaha
The beast was a human on flaka
What it's like to chew Five Gum

@@carsonphillips8008 omg hahahahah
you make very well constructed reviews. you've just earned a subscriber
I think this spit is a really great movie,I really like it
Bruce Willis had the power before the train accident, he just began exploring it after the train accident
I hope this thumbnail was not spoiler.
Never
Karan Chaphekar it was.
Karan Chaphekar get over it
Why would you watch a movie about the ending without having seen the movie, then post about hoping the THUMBNAIL was a spoiler?
you are easily the most entertaining movie commentator on youtube
Me and my friend call each other Barry and Hedwig because of this movie. Have never stayed in a car alone ever again though
ok but did anyone else notice how those scars kind of randomly appeared on Casey towards the end? In some DID patients, scars can disappear and reappear between personalities. What if all of this abuse during her childhood (both from her uncle and from "the hoard") is beginning to create a fracture in her personalities, and she is developing DID? It's definitely possible.
I really like that idea!
great movie. a lot of opinions and perspectives in here though. which is great but ultimately makes the title of your video click bait because you did not actually explain the ending
What else did you need explained?
Nothing really. Over all good video just falsely labeled that's all. This is more a review
Appreciate you taking the time to comment.
However, considering I literally talked about the final scene and what it represents, you may be misunderstanding what the word "clickbait" means.
If there is something I didn't cover about the ending, then I'd be happy to cover that.
Bro don't get all butthurt over a little constructive criticism it's an interesting video but should've been labeled a review
Whoa, it's all good bro.
I'm fine with criticism. Was just asking you to explain the constructive part.
Shyamalan always makes personal cameos in every movie he makes
when m night blow you away he really blows you away nobody expect the ending of split that shocking one of the best endings of recent memory !!!
At the end of the movie... she meets the guy on the other side of the walkie talkie (the black security guard that looked shocked)
He realized who she was and what had happend
Ok, this is is my SPLIT FAN THEORY
*SPOILERS*
(and excuse my English, I am a Spanish speakers)
So, everybody is saying that this is a supervillain origin story...
Anya Taylor-Joy's character, the NEW MASTERMIND ;)
Think about it: She is a survivor, she is very very smart, all the kids avoid her, she has troubles with authorities, she was systematically abused. And she is a HUNTER.
AND SHE IS PISSED OFF.
Plus, she is the opposite of our hero (Bruce Willis) too: He is an old men, she is a teenage girl. He had an all stars childhood (extremely popular, football star, married her high school sweetheart, a cheerleader) she was abused by her uncle, and has no friends, and she is generally considered the weirdo (she was invited to that party in the first scene out of petty)
Plus, she has similarities to Samuel Jackson's character too: Self impose isolation, hate/disdain through out others, intelligence, patience, and a "weird set of eyes": "Slightly bigger" than the rest of us, as signifying a different point of view (explained in Unbreakable as a Mastermind trademark)
So, buckled up! she is coming!
love it!!! and when you think about it a budding super hero would probably try to stop the girls froma dangerous attempts to escape...casey never did.
Agreed
M. Night's cameos are like Stan Lee cameos in Marvel movies, he's a different character everytime, but it's always cool to see imo
You explained the control of the body wrong. Hedwig said that they all sat in chairs and waited to go into the light to take control over the body.
Girls please dont kiss me, you might become pregnant.
DMacGaming84 😂
0:56 what 2003 movie is he talking about? Thx
unbreakable
movieweb.com/movie/identity/
You said the ending was explained but you didn't really explain anything about the ending it's just a review so in that case it's click bait
Pretty much covered everything.
What did you still need help with?
chad stevens ñ, that’s not what it is.
I hope the villain name is the "horde" not the "beast". If Kacey is the super hero what would her super power be then?
Moon SKeetz "The Beast" is his latest alter.
violentsoonkyu yea I get that but "the horde" includes all alters
Moon SKeetz I think that will surround around The Horde's theory that only people who have been hurt have any purpose in the world
Moon SKeetz I thought "the horde" was Patricia, Dennis, and Hedwig plus the beast?
Went to see split last night it was really good. James mcavoy played all 24 personalities well. Oscar for him.
I loved this movie.
Poetic The Poet YAAAAAAS BITCH
He didn't get his powers after the train crash, he was born with them. In the movie he says he remembers getting sick only one time when he was a kid. That one time was when he almost drowned which water is his only weakness.
This movie was amazing,absolute 10/10
While the dudes explaining an ad comes on like "did not realize it, did not know" and idk that had me dead I thought it was some type of meme or something
I do like Shayamalan. But in an odd way.
1. Unbreakable
Best of what he does.
Unbreakable is the superhero movie.
totally, but for all the head scratchers wondering why lady in the water is a thing, if you rewatch it with presupposed idea that, "this movie is going to tell me how superheros came into being..."
I think that frame of reference will make the movie more enjoyable.
because cinematically, the movie checks all the boxes.
Where that movie loses its traction is in its fantastical story and cartoonish character tropes.
For me the list is...
1: 6:th sense
2: Unbreakable
3: Split
The happening can not be above any of those three imo. But we al lhave different tastes. =)
(I actually liked The Village a lot more than The Happening.)
Not seen Lady in the water yet... =(
1Dreamking I didn't like "Signs" because I know that all cropcircles are man made and no supernatural explanation is needed.
Jeffery. I havn't even mentioned Signs. =)
But I did think that movie was a disappointment and yes there is that as well. Damn student hoaxers! =P
Bruce Willis' character didn't "gain" super powers after the train crash. He always had his abilities, just didn't start recognizing them until Mr. Glass came into his life.
Shamalan has been on a winning streak
This really impressed me overall. I never saw Unbreakable, but when I saw Bruce Willis at the end and people react, I realised I was clearly missing something. Now I'm going to check out the movie since people have been talking it up low key over the years. Well done M. Night.
