You were sitting in a small cafe on a rainy day in Brooklyn, drinking tea and staring out the window wistfully. Around you the air was filled with the happy chatter of customers and the clink of silverware and plates. Smiling softly to yourself you hummed along to the music playing over the speakers hidden around the room. Then, as the song switches you look up,
"Hey there Delilah what's it like in New York City...?"
Smiling softly to yourself you let yourself get lost in the music as memories of a certain someone flood back. You knew that they would always make it big, with that voice of theirs. And you sat there with your lukewarm tea, reminiscing of days long past spent in the hot summers of California. Swimming in the cool salty ocean, long walks in the green forests, late nights gazing at the stars, and stolen kisses at midnight when neither of you could sleep. It had been perfect back then. If only you hadn't left, if only you'd stayed and grown old together. Now they were gone and you were left only with memories and graying hair.

The song ended and you got up to pay at the front. Someday you'll be together again.

Fellow Weeb Thank you! Actually I did sort of intend for it to be sad, as a contrast to the song. It's also partially based off of my own experience with heart break and growing apart and dealing with loss. But you can interpret however :)

You're standing there in the warm summer night's breeze with a half emptied drink in your hand. You look out at the scene below you. "Quite the weather's we're having!" "The economy is booming!" "Have you read the news?" Oh how they love to talk about the things that never really mattered. These parties have no real conversations, do they? That's why you prefer the balcony more than the crowd. The view is beautiful tonight. It kind of reminds you of home. The band begins playing this new hit song. You do a little dance as the rhythm takes over you. You listen closely to the lyrics. Somehow this situation reminds you of home. The simpler days in the countryside. Sitting below an apple tree and listening to your sister play and your father sing. Then came the time to leave the nest and face the big and exciting New York. And now you're here, stuck in a party with the worst cavalier ever. You take a deep breath. At least they have free drinks...

When I’m older I want to be a barrister (the one who deals with law, not coffee) but then when I’m older I’ll open a cafe exclusively for songwriters, novel writers, poets etc. And there’ll be a mix of old music and just music with the best vibes and they can socialise and find out ab each other’s projects idk but yeah.
