Gauche is one of my all time favourite Alternative Future series, and I keep revisiting it years later, frkon’s film is truly great and it manages to be both captivating and fascinating at the same time, I struggle to find other alternative futures as good as gauche but I have very much enjoyed it.
@@solartree4189 will check them out, they are likely the last bastions of mapping ngl, voidviper, frkon and the rat of mapping were my favorite mappers
Gauche was like Panem. Terrible outer districts. Rich inner circle and capital. Panem was sadistic and evil, almost just like Gauche. How to the inner districts, District 13 was bombed to the ground, and President Snow, I'm sure, wouldn't hesitate to wipe another off the map. Just like being seized in the world of Gauche, but entire fucking countries didn't die out by chaos and anarchy. Gauche was a monster that Panem couldn't hold a candle to. And just like Panem, Gauche met their end at the hands of outsiders they tried to erase, be it Russia and Arabia, or Alma Coin's District 13. They seized Poland to the point of their death, just like how Panem firebombed 12, the birthplace of Katniss Everdeen, the girl on fire that burned down Panem, and eventually, the dictator that never was, Coin. If there is a sequel to this, I'm almost 100% sure it will involve Russia or Arabia's death at the hands of Belarus and Romania, as Poland is dead. The death of the new leader, who will likely be just as tyrannical. (I wrote this not realizing Hague exists. Watching that now...) You made one hell of a series, Frkon. Gauche's world was a creative, very haunting, and entertaining one to watch. "We did it! We restored freedom!" "...Wait.. did we?"
I spent an hour and thirty minutes looking for this thing. I know it won’t mean much since I believe you quit mapping and TH-cam altogether, but I love this series and this movie.
I only recently discovered this masterpiece, how could I not have seen it in all this time? Congratulations on being able to create such a complex storyline without getting lost as you go along. Out of curiosity: how do you organize the script? Do you write a summary of the idea, a timeline or do you write all the episodes of the season and then you make slides?
I wrote a summary for each episode, plot developments to keep in mind and ending all before I started making the first episode. I wrote the actual scripts for each episode as they came up, though because it would be easier that way if I needed to change anything about it
My only problems with the entire series (Gauche + Hague) is that it feels like they were preparing to introduce the US which never happened and that the ending kinda felt really rushed, otherwise this is probably the best mapping series ever made
So really, what was Gauche? was it an EU gone wrong? it says that Paris and Germany are rich with cars and stuff so i cant assume its a North korea type of deal
Gauche is french for left, so the goal for the party was unity in Europe, you could say it was a European Union gone wrong, unfortunately as you realize, they didn't treat everyone equally as left wing parties should
Bravo, for this is a masterpiece to behold. I really enjoyed watching Poland and Belarus evolve their friendship, and how Gauche ultimately wasn’t the bad guy. That certainly rattled me, good job.
That's basically it. I saw in a community tab that Frkon realised that the plot of this series was very similar to the plot of 1984. but by that time, he had already made Episode Five and knew that changing the plot by this point would cause it to crumble and no longer make sense.
I hate how America never got a redemption arc, hopefully if the series is ever picked back up with Hague they'll get something. I love the series tho, for real.
the series probably wont be picked up again, but i had planned a third series set entirely within america to take place alongside the events of gauche and hague
@@Frkon I've actually though of something like that, I've never had a chance to get into mapping yet, too busy with school. But once I do, I have a series written out that would take place within the Universe of Gauche but show that America was actually not isolationist out of shame, but due to a civil war between a few different factions which occured after people saw what the US had helped Gauche win. I hadn't been gonna try to take your credit of course and was gonna ask for your permission to make it. In all honesty, idk when I'd be able to do it but I guess I ought to just go ahead and ask if you'd be ok with me making that? It'd just be a kind of fanfiction almost to go along with the main events of Gauche and Hague.
@@Frkon Interesting! I'd been gonna try to make the US government similar to gauche, even planned to name it "Tranquility" or something haha. But was gonna try to reverse your geography in your series (Gauche in the west, resistance/puppets in the east and south, allies mostly to the north) by putting "Tranquility" in the East US, Puppet's in California and the midwest, and then resistance states in the rockies and other parts of the west. Maybe put some puppets in northern Mexico and some "ally" states in Canada. Make the external enemies some mix of Latin/South American countries and maybe a democratic China. I've written making Kansas the main character, but instead of being a whole new person than the pre-war kansas, he just has lost his memory. I think the way he'll find out the truth of the war and everything is through probably Utah/Deseret, whatever I name them. Just curious if you have any critiques on a storyline like that? Thanks again!
Revisiting this now, I realise that from the perspective of core EU/Gauche territories (France, Germany) they saw themselves as more advanced and progressive, and probably had better rights alongside a confirmed higher standard of living that the opposing countries (Russia, Arabia) didn't have or actively oppressed (Arabia might be fundamentalist Islamic, Russia the same as now). Whilst they oppressed the "secondary" EU countries, it was out of fear for them losing the civilisation they had built. By no means is Gauche a good country, they genocided and wiped out several nations, but from their perspective - their enemies were truly barbarians, something Arabia realised. It would be interesting to understand just how advanced Gauche was, but I guess the vagueness is what makes it intriguing.
Can't say for sure, but my guess is that Gauche cut contact from America, and that America assumed Europe was happy and united, obviously that wasn't the case, and America probably only found out the truth after Ireland made contact
Gauche is terrifying on how they seem so like a ai, like it’s not them talking it’s just someone talking for them.
