- I was able to interview the great living theater legend back then in her house in Kapitolyo, Pasig City. I was toying with a Video Hi8 recorder owned by my brother and I thought instead of a tape recorder, a video would be exciting. I think I ran out of space here because there's no proper beginning and ending. I had several conversations with her, some on tape recorder and some just by phone calls and I jotted down her answers. I wrote a 20,000-character long article for Sunday Inquirer Magazine but the maximum was 4,000 characters. For the life of me, I refused to edit and trim the article. It wasn't used. I used to keep my files via hotmail but since it had several overhauls, I lost the final draft. Looking back, I could have started a blog back then and self-publish the story for posterity sake. At the time of the interview, Miss Naty was given an award by the Cultural Center of the Philippines. She talked about the time she met her husband, Col Joe Rogers, why live performances during the Japanese Occupation was like a golden age for theater, why she would rather read books than watch some local musicals (during her time) and other delightful topics.
