However, to make a pact to eulogize each other even Posthumously is Absolutely Phenomenal!!! I remember when President Carter eulogized Ford in Jan 2007. Now Steven Ford has fulfilled his Father's Promise 18 yrs later. This is the BEST MEANING of TRUE FRIENDSHIP!!!

Only Trump, a man of no class, grace, nor compassion, has made it appear impossible in recent years to achieve any level of cordiality much less genuine kinship with his rivals. Except of course those who first humiliate themselves by bending their knees and swearing fealty to his highness.

I lived through Both Presidents terms and respected them. Ford was known as a bit of a bumbler, and was doomed from the start by being a follow up to Nixon, but seemed a decent president. Carter was caught in several no win situations, culminated by the Hostage crisis in Persia ( later Iran).
Since their terms both spoke, wrote books, and stayed somewhat associated with politics, but still distanced enough and never held office again. Ford even advocated for Gay Rights and equality, and Carter helped to build homes for the homeless, and poor. He also helped internationally with negotiations.
Carter I think did more to help, but Ford did not shurk from trying as well. I think his son delivering this eulogy was both a funny, and deeply meaningful action.

What a great eulogy by the late Gerald Ford, well delivered by his son. Prophetic words about Carter's character and legacy then and in the future (Ford passed away 19 years ago!), and of the MiddIe East conflict then and now.
Now, there are few, if any people--famous or not, former presidents or not--who could compare to or emulate Carter's loving/caring/compassionate, humble, intelligent and smart, hard-working (his entire life!), ever gracious demeanour.
Peace be with him, God rest his soul.

Steven delivered one of the best speeches, and when I say delivered I mean it. His father spoke through him. The deep friendship between the presidents shines through. What a marvelous idea those gentlemen had. Carter was my first vote (his second run). What a joy to have had him on this planet, and now I can read the rest of his books (I recently read his autographed "Christmas in Plains").

I was born in 1966 and my Mum taught us how to read, write, count, do our tables, sew, knit, as well as things to do with the countryside and the world. We got taught about the different places of the world and their capitals and their Prime Ministers or Presidents, and Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford were some of the first that i knew about. But when Jimmy Carter ran for office, i wonder how many young girls would swoon along with me at how handsome he was? He was the first President that i had seen pictures of that didn't look like an old man. I'm glad that this lovely man reached the wonderful age he did, but i'm so sorry for his family and friends that are having to pick up the pieces left with his departure. Just because his children are all grown, that doesn't take away the unrelenting loss that you feel when you lose your parents, finding yourself an "orphan". My deepest condolences go out to Jimmy Carter's family, from across the ocean in Scotland, where a lot of people are thinking about him and his devastated family that is left. Rest in peace Mr President, Jimmy Carter
