- The excitement in the car was palpable as we journeyed towards Sun City. After 28 long years, we finally found ourselves returning to a place that held an awesome memory, and we couldn't resist visiting since we were so close. The experience was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived to when we were upgraded to a lakeview Cabana until our departure the following morning, we were swept up in a whirlwind of nostalgia and joy. Exploring places like the Valley of Waves, the Cascades Hotel, the Maze of the Lost City, and the opulent Palace of the Lost City filled us with wonder. Strolling next to the serene lake, with the sound of birds and surrounded by nature was simply enchanting. And the food! Our evening meal was a feast of Indian flavours, and breakfast was an indulgent buffet that left us fully satisfied. Sun City has once again captured our hearts, and we’re already dreaming of our next visit, where we’ll savour even more of its beauty and charm.

Even though I have been there each time is really like a new experience.this was such a nice visit. And I am sure Curt lost a couple of kgs. Thank you for taking us there. Really a trip to remember. Next one coming up with me on board

Thank you for the Sun City Experience. I have never been there but after watching today I am definitely putting it on my bucket list. Do enjoy and be safe on the road. I am blown away.
I was at Sun City only once.....many moons ago somewhere in the seventies we were visiting family in Kempton Park and we all drove very early the morning to Sun City, only to arrive at a huge demonstration by the staff....dancing and whatever they do. But....they opened the big entrance for us and was shouting that everything will be free! Well we took advantage of that and soon was standing under magnificent chandeliers near that very big elephant statue. We were really blessed that day, seeing all that for free.
who owns sun city? Is it still Sol Kerzner?is he still alive?
Sun City is owned and operated by Sun International. 🏰 Sol Kerzner passed away in 2020.
Sun city was opened in 1979 and the palace, where the big elephant is located, was only opened in 1992. I think your timing might be a bit off.

I was there when I was about 18. Now I am 48. Bring back so many memories when I was a child. My parents and some family used to go there a few times. I can remember me and my 2 brother was eating at one of those restaurants. We are as much as we could. 😊

Hi guys what a amazing surprise always wanted to go to SUN CITY. now I've been wow .wonderful you could relive your honeymoon memories and also make new one's. To me it had a Disney vibe but with a African twist. Curtis and Sonia you have great luck getting the upgrade brilliant 👏 👍. Loved the whole place the food looked amazing your accommodation stunning too many things to list .I would give it ten out ten another thing ticked for me and a privilege to go with you guys .sitting here mind blown thanks for taking me along cheerio till the next one

I have to say that cabana room looks great. I was at Lost City in 2021 during the covid period and still had to wear masks. Sun city is looking great considering it’s still winter by you guys. Cheers from Dubrovnik once again. Zoltan
Thanks Sonia and Curtis for sharing your visit to Sun ( also known as Sin) City. So nice for you both to return to the place of your honeymoon. A very impressive place. Loved the elephants .After eating all that lovely curry and then the buffet breakfast, I am surprised that Curtis could still drive. A nice nap first before hitting the road. Enjoyed the drone footage on such a clear day. What a shame about the Sky Train. Why does it no longer operate ?
We were just as sad about the Sky Train, but no-one we asked, could tell us the reason why it's no longer operational. 🚈 We suspect it to be the high cost of fuel / electricity and maintenance. 🤷🏻
Sun City. Fourty five years on and still going strong! Absolutely delighted to see that the entire complex is in pristine condition - just as it was when I last visited Sun City in 1990. The whole Pilansberg area, including the national park, is just a magnificent jewel in our country (as your excellent drone footage showcases). May the legacy of Sol Kerzner, whose sole vision it was to create a spectacular resort in the Pilansberg crater in the 1970's, continue to live on. Glad your second honeymoon was magical. Thanks for the visit that certainly brought back many memories to me.

I've been to Sun City numerous times, but never stayed overnight. Never been to the Valley of the Waves either. Was great finally seeing it. Such a pity the sky train is not operational anymore. Glad you guys got to go back. Those kids in the water are way beyond brave.
Hi Dustbugs, first of all, congrats with the new intro, i love it, makes a man want to jump in very fast for what u're bringing us, just want to say a BIG Thank U for taken us along on u're journey's throughout our beatiful land, U take us places that we've been through but we dont know the history of those places, i enjoy every journey, and definitly gonna spend more time at the towns that i drive through just to appreciate the visit, not just to fill the tank but take time to really know the towns that i have to pass on my way to my kids, one stay's in George, one in Bloemhof, and the oldest stay's in Middelburg, Mp, and i? Oh goodness, i stay and work in Kathu, be safe whenever the bug bites for a another one of u're visits, cant wait for u're next vid, all i can say is THANK U, I enjoy u guy's, be safe out there,❤

I also had part of my honeymoon at Sin City in '98 and when visiting again 8 years ago, I first noticed most of the decor detail that I had missed the first time. Must be due to the old "love is blind" saying I guess.

I really enjoyed this one. I remember going on a bike rally with my dad in the 80s to Sun City. The Palace was under construction then. I worked as a field guide at Bakubung Game Lodge in Pilanesberg for about a year in 1996. We used to take the back road to the staff pub at Sun City. I also collected guests from the Palace a few times. It is a pity you couldn't go to Pilanesberg. It is an amazing reserve.😊

What a lovely video. It's a beautiful place. I was so lucky to spend a night in the Lost Palace (a work function, would never be able to afford it otherwise) years ago and it was just Stunning! Vicky Sampson was there and sang African Dream. Awesome place!
This is my favourite episode by far it reminds me of 1993 when we took our school trip to Pilanesberg National Park specifically at Madikwe Camp memorable trip ever during the day we drove around the park, visited the Aiport and in the evening it would be Sun City back then we paid R12 to enter , Sky train was not operational at the time of our visit but used buses provided it dropped us at Welcome Centre though I noticed that it has changed a lot because back then they had vending machines as you enter premises and we were fascinated by coffee vending machine it was first time seeing it. Great memories indeed
What you said about being blown away is true. Have visited numerous times since '81, daytime in the park, little bits of Sun City and staying in the vacation club normally. Love it every time and amazed every time as to the high level of maintenance the are able to keep up. Salut to the staff and the visionary Sol Kerzner

It's still a very beautiful place. Watching your videos makes me miss South Africa very much. The last time I went there was in the late 1990s. I didn't see any flamingos in the Cascades garden pools. Do they still have crocodiles at the lost city golf course?
I really have no idea. 🐊 We only stopped at The Lost City Golf Course very briefly.

From what we saw in the 24 hours we were there, they make plenty of money. 💰 We love the place and would go back again and again if it were just closer. In our view, there is no equal in South Africa.
