      How cool! When I was in college nothing as impactful came out. 2012-15. Can't imagine what that must have felt like with an older frame of relevance to life. I played it when I was in my early teens. Very difference experiences we had. I only wish I could play it sooner in life and all over again. My best friend spoiled it for me because he assumed I had played it before because I was quite a starwars fan. Never finished it. I was gutted. Still regret it to this day. This music is incredibly beautiful but always brings me pangs of nostalgia and sadness.

      It is indeed interesting, that a lot of team members of Revan can be considered Tarisians, though their homeworld is a different one: Mission Vao, Zaalbar, Canderous Ordo, T3-M4 and even Juhani.

      And it's basically how RPG stories handle themselves.
      It's that feeling every Hero does in their journey.
      Those first steps of leaving the comfort of home.
      Mother's play a huge part in it too (I.E Cloud Strife's Mother, Anakin's mother). We had Kokiri Forest in Ocarina of Time, Luke's homestead in the original Star Wars Film, The beginning of the Legend of Spyro, the Shire from Lord of the Rings...
      These forms of storytelling will never become stale.
      It takes imaginations like ours to retell it with a new form of Gusto.

  • @jonass961
    @jonass961 8 ปีที่แล้ว +492

    I really like how they put this theme in the very beginning (Taris) of the game and near the very end (on top of the ancient temple on the unknown world). When you stand there with Bastila, about to fight, this theme reminds you of the beginning of the game when the thing were so incredibly different, when you were just a soldier / scout / scoundrel and Bastila was one of the most promising Jedi the Order had to offer. Then you realize how much has changed and, imo, that really moves you emotionally, at least the first time you play the game, especially considering the somewhat melancholic aspect to this theme.
    Many people mainly remember the big plot twist on the Leviathan but that scene on top of the temple will always stick with me. It's just such a perfect moment. :)

    • @MrAbgeBrandt
      @MrAbgeBrandt 8 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      I absolutely agree!
      When I entered that temple rooftop for the first time... I knew something important was going to happen, that this was not just a coincidence. I walked to the door... and was right.
      And I must also agree about the plot twist - for me, it's nothing I remember being special at all, actually. What I remember when thinking of KotOR is the journey as a whole... and this track, with the Taris apartement.

I really like the calm, introspective feeling of this music, I like to sit down sometimes and just listen to it with my eyes closed because it reminds me of being on Taris back in Kotor, it's the only moment you are safe and totally hidden away from the world even if but for a moment.

    • @DraculaCronqvist
      @DraculaCronqvist 8 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      I think turning them into movies would've just lessened them. Kotor I and II live from making your choices and how you interact with the characters and the world. Streamlining it by making a movie for the "canon" events would've taken away from that feeling.

    I remember the very first time I played this. I remember cycling through all the dialogue options with Carth, trying to piece things together, like, "Who is Revan?" "Who is Malak?" "Who is Bastila? Why is she important?" and just being awestruck. It made me feel so important, like the fate of the universe may be in my hands. And after everything that happened afterwards, leading up to the revelation, and up to the moment you see Bastila in the ancient temple on Rakata Prime, everything came full circle. Easily the best game I ever played.

    i remember the first time i listened to this song. i was 18. devastated, lonely, weird, unsuccesful. All my life i lived for others, for my mom, to understand and integrate myself to society... to make others happy. I was a stupid soul, floating without having direction to anywhere. i was totally dreamy, i was not able to possess any willpower in me. One of those days... i dont wanna get into personal details... i heard something that made me hit bottom. At those days while playing kotor, i was often going to my hideout just to listen to this music, feeling my pain deep inside. i could never know that this would impact me so much. At the night the day i felt like i hit the bottom, cried all night without knowing exactly why, i thought about my past, i had the melody of this song, i was just saying to myself ''i will live a life that i will never regret'' repeatedly. And after that 'explosion' my life changed. I changed. since then when i felt lost or tired, i remembered that night and recovered my strength. I have chosen the hardest and the most risky decisions in my life, and now im in a position that i can feel myself as a whole and understand things around me without beeing part of something. IF this song wasnt exist... probably such transformation would take years. You helped me, the composer, whoever you are. Im grateful.

    This game had such good atmosphere. I lost track of how many times I've stood idle at one spot for too long, in many different places in the game, sometimes in the middle of a dialog option and I would drift to sleep, for the whole night, with the sound of the ambiance on the TV and I'd wake up hours later and still be in the same spot with the controller in my hand still in the chair, or full on under the covers in bed cause I was too tired to keep playing and I didn't want to turn the game off.
    Even when I was playing and awake, the sounds of the ambiance would lull me to sleep.

    I only recently finished playing Kotor I and I have gotten a decent ways into Kotor II, but I still get this feeling of calm and peace as if I were remembering a fond memory of something that happened ages ago. I'm sure years from now I will still get this feeling while listening to Taris' music, it's amazing.
