Hi everyone - if you're new to Patricia, I bought her book "Growing Bold" and it's fantastic!! It's well written, full of practical steps and advice to empower your life, and inspirational! I read a lot of books like it and it holds it's own - I highly recommend it!!
Thank you, JesseSaintJesse! I appreciate this testimonial for my book. If you have already, would you mind sharing this on Amazon too. I'd really appreciate it. Thank for sharing this and making my day!
Ah, thank you. The language law changes are something I just learned about and thought it would interesting for others to hear about. And the flowers really added a nice touch, didn't they. 😀😀 Thanks for your comment.
Often because a path is not obvious or clear (the "how" evades us) we can see things as not possible. For something to be possible, it is important to believe it so. As the saying goes, "If you think you can, you can. If you think you can't, your right." So the question isn't do I think it's possible. The question is do you,@@sabrinamadison8769? If not, and you deeply want it, it's necessary to get help in shifting your belief.
-- Hello Patricia! This is such a great, informative, and useful video, and all of the information in the description box is so helpful! I have a question though, which follows up on something from your most recent livestream video: You mentioned that you have the Carte Vitale but that you have also purchased supplemental health insurance. The name of the company started with an “M” but I can’t recall the name. Are you able to tell me the name, by any chance? Thank you! 😊
Mutuelle is the French word for supplemental insurance. I use a company called Soficas that caters to English speakers and has an English customer service line. My agent is Anita anita@soficas.fr
Bonjour Patricia, thanks for sharing your story. This is really good information. Since you have been in France for over 5 years, are you interested in becoming a citizen? I love your channel and binge watch your videos😂.
Bonjour, Patricia. I watched several episodes of the International Living channel and became inspired by your story and leap of faith. I saw a little bit of myself in you (back when I was courageous). For example, my first solo trip ever, was to France. Time for me to read your books! Looking forward!👍🏼
Bonjour! Thank you for your message. It's ironic how courage seems to dissipate over time. Or at least it seemed to for me. The good news is you can always tap back into it. Enjoy my books!😀😀
Hi Patricia! Your content and videos are really helping me consider things about moving abroad in new and enlightening ways. This is the first comment I’ve ever made on a video and I’m happy to make it on your channel! Thanks so much for what you share!
Thank you Patricia. One of the things you touched on is the importance of visiting a place to decide if it's for you. I was traveling through France several years ago and stopped in Perpignan. for me it was nice...but I wouldn't want to live there. I'm glad you found the perfect place for you!
You are welcome. For me seeing how the place feels is so important. And, since we become different people as we experience life, a type of place that suited us five years ago (a big city, for example) might not suit us now. Deciding based on that could leave us scratching our heads and saying "What was I thinking?"
How long did it take for you to become fluent in French? I took 2 years of French in high school and made all A's, but that was a long time ago. I still understand some now, so I wouldn't be starting at zero. Thanks for the video. I have a feeling you may get a boom in business in 2025 if thing in the US go the "wrong way". haha.
I started relearning French at the end of 2014. When I moved to France in 2018 I wasn't fluent. A year and half after moving here, when I navigated purchasing car and renters insurance, I started calling myself fluent. But in certain situations (taking my car to the shop, for example) I still don't have the best vocabulary. But I can dumb it down enough to be understood and understand.🙂
Patricia what a awesome informative video about your journey which took you to France. And thank you for answering several questions that were on the minds of us who are considering taking the same path to Europe. As I've said previously your videos are a must see and that's why I do refer other friends to your channel. Bonjour Merci
Ah, thank you so much! This means a lot to me. I realized I've shared a lot of this info, but not in one place so I thought this video would be right on point. Thank you for spreading the word about my channel. It really helps. 😀😀
Is your closet city Papineau or Perpignan? I am curious to know what’s the nearest international airport or major city to your location? I have an upcoming trip to Nice, this October. I can’t wait! 🇨🇦
Perpignan is my closest city. They have an airport and I think they call it "international," but for a real international airport, the closest is Barcelona, about two hours to the south.
Hello dear Patricia . I am so honored that you love France and most of all that you help people to love this country and that they consider to move to this nice place in the world . 👍👍 Best regards to you Patricia ..
Have you ever been visiting the chateaux Cathares Patricia ? These are a must see . They are very next to where you live . If you have any question about what to visit in France , feel free to ask me . I will help the best I can . Stephan .
Hi Patricia, I'm following from Stephanie Perry's channel. This info is so insightful and has me excited. My daughter and I have just started our housesitting journey and wanted to travel to somewhere close as our next stop. Like you, we want to go to a french speaking area so Canada may be our first stop. For financial reasons mainly and to get our travel feet wet. We have an alternative lifestyle that was not planned but we have accepted as a gateway to bigger things. Thank you so much for sharing this info for women such as ourselves, and we will continue to follow for more insight and encouragement.🦋
Hi Patricia! I've listened to many of your videos after I decided to move to South of France. Your recommendations/advice are so thoughtful and intentional. They are full of experience, wisdom and spot on. So I'm hoping you will be of some assistance. My date is 7/6, at the start of the season. So I've reconciled that I will locate a short-term rental until the season is over. Can you recommend any short-term rentals with a good reputation? I would appreciate any guidance you can provide.
Patricia, I am curious if you've ever visited the home of Josephine Baker in the town of Le Vésinet. If so, how far is it from the region you reside in?
@@PatriciaBrooksCourageCatalyst Thank you. 500 miles is a good distance away. Perhaps a weekend getaway type of trip. If time permits, I hope you get to visit it one day, I hear it's a lovely.
I heard on the French Entree channel that if you are on the Long Term Stay/resident visa you can do work, such as Americans working remotely for a company in America. Meaning you must be paid from the American Co. This way you are not taking a job from French person.
People with US passports can stay in France/European Union for up to three months at a time. A long stay for one-year is available but you have to apply for that. france-visas.gouv.fr/en/long-stay-visa
I hear you describe the place but not the people. That makes me slightly uneasy. We Americans are told the world "is our oyster", but at what point might we end up by a large expat influx damaging the very characteristics that attracted us to a place? While I am considering a move , I feel like it's important to consider how I can fit in and respect the culture that exists where I might move to. I'm interested in knowing if you're addressing this issue in any of your videos. Or with your expat group. Thanks.
Thanks for your thoughtful question. This is definitely something to consider when moving to a foreign country. Contributing to the community and respecting the culture are ways to hopefully add value. I have not addressed this topic in any of my videos, might be an interest one or livestream. One thing that I think is helpful in this area is learning the language and being a part of the community with locals (and not only English speaking expats) because while our cultures may be different we can all learn from one another and gain great benefit..
Which part of this video did you find most helpful???
The breakdown about visas

Insight on weather and home environment. Both are important considerations when deciding where to live.
Yes, things I would never have thought about when I was planning. Glad it helps.
I liked the flowers, your makeup and the new language laws were informative.
Thank you Patricia.

I've created captions on my videos, so if you enable them you will be able to see how the French words are spelled.

I've heard this too. And I've heard that you can't as well. Seems to be a gray area, one that I would not feel comfortable doing.
is the one year visitor visa still available? I watched someone else's video and they only spoke about a 3 month one.
