Sorry, it was quicker than that, no one attempted to push the rods down, it was too late by then. The two may have been sent but they walked into a destroyed reactor building only to gaze in horror at the unthinkable. 🤦🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️

There’s a good 40 minute Rasputin documentary on TH-cam. I forgot what it’s called, you can probably just look up rasputin documentary
Briny, If you are interested in learning about Rasputin and want more information than is in most articles or wikipedia, I would highly recommend the book "Rasputin Faith, Power, And the Twilight of the Romanovs" by Douglas Smith. It is a fantastic book that will get you hooked and provide you with a wealth of information along with some great pictures. There is also an audiobook version if you find those easier to absorb.

This story always hits close to home. My mom was 4 months pregnant with me when radioactive rain fell on my town, and one of my best friends was just born just some days before. She suffered cancer most of her 20s and died at 30 without ever fulfilling her wish to be a mom. Considering how I found that my town has been closely but pretty quietly documenting cancers since 86 it feels very eerie and the increase in cancers is also quite frightening especially since it was "just rain". If I recall correctly the increase was like 150% or something crazy like that. I'm glad you didn't have an accent, this feels easy to listen to as English is my second language and some accents just makes listening very mentally straining sometimes and can really take away from the actual message at times.

Building the pyramids were a high paying and death filled job. They were made for their kings whose were thought of as gods. Only people that worshiped these kings and really loved them would put all their devotion in creating the pyramids. Slaves would work with their hearts just their hands. The people who actually wanted to do it and saw it as a necessary deed. In their minds, they had to build the pyramids. Please know the culture and history of your own world and don’t underestimate knowledge. This is why these things are taught even at a 5th grade level. Try to be educated on the reality of life.

Some mistakes:
The scene where the workers try to insert the rods manually AFTER the explosion bis wrong.
At that point the core was no longer. He sent them to do that but they just needed up reporting that the core is destroyed.
The reason for the main surge was the tip of the rods. Which was graphite. But the rods themselves are made of boron.
Graphite accelerates the reaction even if it slows the neutrons.
It's a bit counter intuitive.
Boron = absorbs them
Graphite= slows them but the slower the go the more likely are to hit each other thus increase the reactions. And electrical output.
The tip of the boron absorbing rods was graphite so as they used the scram button (all rods go down together) all the graphite tips went down together. Causing the surge which stuck many of them in that unfortunate position which ultimately caused the reactor to be uncontrollable, over heating and blowing up.
The void coefficient wasn't that much of an issue as the fact that the reactor was poisoned by the previous extreme drop in power.
As soon as I thought the last one was the best you have to go make another awesome one .. great Job IAm

people are bitching about the accent, but its pretty okay, not everyone in eastern europe sounds like a russian, and the kinda deep voice is working pretty well for the vid as well, it might soound monotonous to some people, but keep in mind they are depicting a scientific person, giving a factual story, altough some emotions are mixed in, that is not the focus, it is someone giving a detailed description of events

Have you ever thought about the issues of wind and solar energy? I'll use Wind Turbines as an example. A simple short version.
To create wind turbines you need to mine the resources, transport, refine resources, transport, create parts, transport, assemble wind turbine, and then maintenance. All of which is using the earth's limited resources and polluting the environment. Also the amount of birds killed by win turbines is insane.
When all numbers are added up, over the life span of a wind turbine they are actually worse for the environment.
The thing is the radioactive waste needs to be stored anywhere. FOR A LONGER TIME PERIOD THAN THE HUMANS HAVE ALREADY EXISTED!
I don’t care if wind turbines might be more or less efficient (even though you didn’t talk about how you get the Uranium)
I just think about the future of our planet!
Btw I live in Germany and we understood the problem and don’t want to create more waste...

Wow. As a member of public that was near this site when it all went down, I must say two things:
1) I am so lucky to have survived due to the bravery and sacrifice of the responders
2) Let's do our best to avoid this in the future, as the nuclear power IS the cleanest power we can afford so far
It is pure, when it is not blowing up, due to a "safety test" which should not have been even thought about! Or when the power plants are not destroyed by a natural disasters like Fukushima was. I am a Finnish who is against nuclear power because of Chernobyl accident.
