@@dilanhos2499 the braids that she's wearing are somewhat disrespectful to my culture (the african american/african community). box braids are part of our culture and something that our ancestors came up with specifically for us; mainly because box braids are not made for any other type of hair except the hair that black people have, as proven. whenever asians, hispanics, indians, and especially white people get box braids, their hair falls out because their texture is not strong enough for box braids. so when lisa wore that hair style, a bunch of our people were offended because we see that as mocking our culture. every culture/ethnicity/race has something that belongs to them and them alone. for example, if i were to wear a qipao, that would be mocking asians because it is not apart of my culture, it is not meant for me. lisa is so sweet though, it was really kind and mature of her to apologize because she didn't know :) that's basically what happened.

Culture is not in your DNA, it’s NOt something you are born with. Culture is something you Grew up with and learn along your life. You’re not born knowing how to braids hair, someone taught you.
A white person grew up in Cameroun got more of an African Culture than SOME Black American.
Braids got a Story ? Absolutely. But you won’t make me believe Every Black person wearing braids Knows what the story is about. Why ? Because it’s past and to know the story. Someone had to told you about it.
So People Screaming Cultural Appropriation seems to forget they Needed Someone to Educate them about the story. It’s the same for Lisa so I think people should stop pressuring her like she committed a crime.
Secondly, It’s Impossible to live in a Globalized Country where Using others culture doesn’t happens. Cause we’re all living together, we tend to influence each other.
If wearing Braids is Cultural Appropriation, I Guess y’all not using Chopsticks, Not eating Mexican, Japanese Food, wearing fashion by others countries. Regarding the braids, it wasn’t a “box braid” nor a ‘corn row’, it was just a braid. She did nothing wrong. Braids have been worn by all nations from the beginning of nations.

Yall I saw this on Instagram the video of lisa apologizing man believe it or not I cried cuz she's so nice we don't deserve her. I'm a Black person myself and I don't have/see a problem with her hair those were not box braids, box braids are braided from the scalp and the part of the hair is a square or triangle shape..🤦🏾♀️ people are so sensitive.

Not one pic shows bangs and a ponytail with braids that's has nothing to do with the history of braids. People are just making it a big deal most were not even black.
@@Destinycbn me too. I’m black and she had no ill-intentions. That’s what ppl on the internet refuse to listen to. Some ppl make mistakes and she owned up to that. I won’t say names, but a few years back, an artist in kpop said they specialized in black English. Now, there is no such thing as “black” English. He went to the point of demonstrating it and he obviously knew what he was doing. I won’t say names because I don’t want to direct hate on that artist. But there is a difference between knowing and simply not knowing at all. Lisa is in SoKor(which is heavily connected to their culture) and she’s from Thailand(which takes a lot of pride in their culture). The lack of World History in just those two countries shows. They don’t talk about slavery or the Columbian Exchange. Like, even in America, we get a week to talk about black history and that’s it. Just goes to show how the same way kpop fans learned some Korean culture and it took time, it’s the same for kpop idols. They have fans all around the world and ppl put them on a pedestal. But at the end of the day, they’re human and make mistakes. Kpop stans should realize that. Especially kpop stans on Twitter.

Have you ever seen YG address controversies like this? I'm a new fan of BP and Treasure, so I don't remember YG ever releasing statements about their artists' CA controversies. One TH-camr pointed out that YG only seems to care if it's the Korean public they upset. But this one is an apology from Lisa herself, not the company.
Lisa was caught off-guard by the fan during fansign and she was put on the spot. What's her reaction? She extends the call, listens to the fan, took responsibility, and immediately apologized. I've heard of other idols who just brushed it off and some who pushed the blame onto their producers or stylists and let the company issue an apology for them (the usual carefully crafted apology with robotic lines that some PR staff probably wrote).
But what are the haters saying now?
1. They want a "proper" apology (meaning, the company-issued one). They prefer business as usual over sincerity.
2. They're saying it's a fake video, put together by fans. You'd think if Lisa's fans actually made this video up, they'd actually make her sound more fluent in English lol. And they're also dragging Lisa for her English, btw, ignoring the fact the English isn't her first language.
3. They're saying she's racist nevertheless. At this point, I know some K-netz (and some I-netz) are just trying to jump on this opportunity to accuse Lisa of something horrible, just so they can feel good about themselves for being racist towards Lisa all these years. These same people have always looked down on Southeast Asians. Them constantly singling out SEA fans (for allegedly bullying other BP members and Lee Mujin even though they have no credible proof) as if Lisa's fans aren't diverse and from all over the world, shows their racism towards Southeast Asians.
Conclusion: Haters are horrible and will say anything to drag Lisa down. Also, don't pretend you care about black people while being racist towards Southeast Asians at the same time.
P.S. If you're none of the above, then you're not who I'm pertaining to. If you're black, then you have every right to feel what you feel about the issue, and it's up to you whether to accept the apology or not.

I know that culture is really delicate issue but it's not right when stan came to artist and complain about it directly. They should complain about it to YG not her because it's her company responsibility to take care everything about artist's image. from what i learned they took the opportunity at the fan meeting, after sending tons of emails to YG and didn't reply back. big fan accounts and individual accounts send those emails. they chose this option. the whole conversation was fine actually. it turned out well. lisa handled it perfectly. i just didnt like the comments and reactions about said video.

She said it herself she think it was cool - probably the team never looked into it or research. First of all, I am Thai, and I am not black. I am quite confused for Lisa to be condemned for braids.
In my view, people of each culture would feel annoyed or angry if foreigners mock or slight their culture, respected symbols, or faith. However, I view braids as a fashion, which many black people wear freely. I think that Lisa (or whoever in YG that came up with braids idea) also viewed this as a hairstyle that fit this song. Before globalization, each culture has their own hairstyles (trying searching “traditional Thai adult hairstyles” and “traditional Thai kid hairstyles”). But people changed and adapted hairstyles over time.
I first learnt about Culture Appropriation due to this Lisa braids incident (most Asian people probably still do not know this concept). The true meaning of CA is probably similar to what I described above, which is to use symbol of cultures in a slight or inappropriate way. I am confused because if black people are proud of wearing braids, why would they feel slight if foreigners also proudly wear braids because they like this hairstyle and think it is cool?
