    You Can Make The ISCS Smaller if you follow this step. Install Acronis True Home Make Backup Image of the ISCS Drive once done very the backup Delete THE ISCS Lun then Recreate the LUN with the smaller size but still has free space then read drive on the client end then restore the LUN by using accronis True Home protect from image once Dun the Drive is now smaller

      I would do a simple file copy to move the files from the ISCI drive and then restore them once you have a smaller drive.

    Great job mate! What's best practice if you're using the NAS as Iscsi for VM storage and need to update the NAS firmware

    • @MikeFaucher
      @MikeFaucher ปีที่แล้ว

      No change in the practice, but you target will be unavailable during the update. If you are concerned, schedule your firmware manually so you know when things will be down. Thanks for the feedback.

    • @golfgreats5527
      @golfgreats5527 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MikeFaucher so shutdown the vms first or disconnect the storage

    • @MikeFaucher
      @MikeFaucher ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@golfgreats5527 The safe way is VMs, Storage, then update, however when you execute the firmware update, it will shut down all the services for you and that should work fine.

    Great video and well explained, I followed every step in it and I used the CHAP authentication but there is a problem I could not solve which is when I try to use iscsi initiator and type the user name and password I get an error that the credentials are wrong and I know they are correct.
    How can I solve this problem? thank you.

    • @MikeFaucher
      @MikeFaucher ปีที่แล้ว

      I have never tried CHAP so I really can't offer much help. Thanks for the feedback.

    Can I use the iSCSI drive away from home? ie outside my local network.

    • @MikeFaucher
      @MikeFaucher ปีที่แล้ว

      As iSCSI is better suited for a single system, storage will tied to that system. What you are describing is better suited with network shares.

    one lun can be use on multiple pc?

    • @MikeFaucher
      @MikeFaucher ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to create two. You can share one just as a normal drive but it is not recommend. If you need to share space, either create two of them or use a standard share. Hope that helps.

    Just be warned you can't see the contents/ files of the LUN on the NAS directly only the LUN details!!!
