Hello , from a team mate ...............woaw a Sugdebn 25 ...........brings back old souveniers !
Indeed one of the only old Class A amplifiers out of the UK...........still on the market today...
These were manufactured in a quite artisanal way ...
    Thank you .

Oh, I love it when it turns out to be a switch or a wire or a fuse! And what a neat rack made out of scrap! Pretty much everything in my listening area is made of scrap!

Hello teammate! Thank you thank you thank you so much!!!
The funny thing is that that wire was exactly where it was supposed to be, and appeared to be making contact !!!!
      😂

Indeed , it was and is still musical ..something that lacks in some very expensive new high end gear....
When I look at a composition of flowers I don't see the very details of every flower but is see the beauty of the whole.......

Hello again, teammate and thank you very much for watching my video liking and commenting! I really appreciate it!
Some some systems can have perfect measurements and hyper clarity and yet have no musicality at all. I rather have a smooth engaging sound that will get my feet tapping.
Some people are into measurements, but we are more into listening with our human ears !!!
      🙂🙏💥💥💥

I have the same amp. This thing sounds amazing. But I have a problem with it. I just replaced the outputs on the left channel which were dead. I checked everything around and everything is good. I managed to find original Hitachi outputs which are very expensive. I just tested it and they are still short. By testing it on the variac the DC comes out of the left channel. I also believe that the on/off switch is short because it is always powered.

      Hello!
Check all your diodes in the output stage. Also check your output drivers.
Are you sure the old devices were shorted?
And by the way, next time don’t go hunting for a specific transistor.
Just get a modern equivalent from digikey or mouser.
Regarding the switch, there should not be voltage going through the switch unless the separation capacitor across the switch is shorted. Or maybe the switch is stuck in the close position.
If that was the case, you can probably take the switch apart, clean it and put it back together.
Thank you for watching my video liking subscribing and commenting and let me know if you’re able to get it fixed. By the way, if you haven’t subscribed, I would really appreciate it if you do so because it would really help.
      🙂🙏

I took a look at it. The inside is totally different. Quite beefier and a lot more complex.

8:50 - You are trying way too hard to "find something" here. The amplifier works and doesn't seem to have any significant issues. That's as good as it gets.

Hello teammate! Thank you very much for watching my video liking and commenting. Sorry I don’t understand what are you referring to. What is it that I am trying too hard to do in your opinion?
What doesn’t seem to have any significant issues?
Once again, thank you very much teammate!

@@Tinybench You're trying to describe the sound of the amplifier but that's something a working amp does not have. You probably need to do some ABX listening tests to understand this better.

      @@marstedt I understand now!
That was my personal subjective impression of how the amplifier sounds, and it should be taken with a grain of salt. Amplifier has a very distinctive sound to me and different properties. I was just trying to describe my subjective experience.
In my opinion, A/B comparisons are great for comparing two products.
in this particular case, I was not comparing the unit to another one in particular, but how it sounds to me in general. Teammate once again thank you thank you thank you so much. I really appreciate it. 🙂🙏
