We had the Visa appointment for 10:00 AM, on 4th September 2018. We reached Chennai Embassy at 9:20 AM and after 30 mins of wait time in queue, we allowed to go as we have kids with us. Since, mobiles, bags, electronic items are not allowed inside, we had left those items in the hotel itself. After entering, we went through the security check. For L1-Blanket candidates, a person at a desk was there to help me with my papers. He created 3 separate group of papers, of only I-129S. Nothing else asked, not even support letter. We moved to a counter where the draft collected and a receipt provided. Next counter was where we were finger printed just to verify our identities. We then moved to the consulate queue, waited for our turn for 5 minutes, and called for interview by one person assisting us.
We went to the window, and wished VO “Very Good Morning” VO (with smiling face): Wished the same and asked for Passport. She looked at the screen and asked for Petition copy.

I am working for an IT MNC in Kolkata and have recently applied for L1A,....but how long does it take for the internal approval to come ? ....after which the processing will actually start ..it has been almost a month since the request has been raised.
    Thanks in advance !

Hi, thank you and sorry for delay response. Can you talk more about your question? When you say you applied, your company has already applied for it?
If yes, it depends on how long queue is if your company is able to prep all your doc before you go for interview. If its internal company approval it depends on your manager and project.

Hi first of all thanks for watching the video. I can only share my experience and knowledge. L2 is not a student visa however you can study on l2, so please don’t call out as you going for study purpose as core reason. Please align your purpose with the primary applicant. Let me know who is your primary applicant and what is the purpose. You can definetly come and study here on l2 but you should describe or align your purpose with primary petitioner. Hope this helps!
You can also refer to uscis website or at this link for more details : www.stilt.com/blog/2019/05/l2-visa/#:~:text=As%20an%20L2%20visa%20holder%2C%20you%20may%3A&text=Study%20full%2Dtime%20or%20attend,and%20return%20to%20the%20U.S.
Also, if your primary is your parents, you must change to F-1 by the time you turn 21. If your parent is here as an L-1A, if he applies for permanent resident (files a form I-140) before you turn 21 then you can still get a green card with him. Depending on the facts of your parent's situation and what country he was born in, it is possible even if he is an L-1B and his labor certification is filed before you turn 21 you MIGHT be able to get a green card with him. But definitely if he hasn't applied for permanent residency by the time you are 21 then you are definitely, and permanently, on your own. The time for you to talk to your parent about him applying for permanent residency is NOW.
