Enjoyed both of your interviews with this fine lady. I also enjoyed her insightfulness about being black in a predominantly white community. She bore no hatred nor anger towards her white community. Most of all I liked the fact that she served her community and looked out for the best education for all those that she presented as a school board member. As an elderly black woman I thoroughly related to her compassion for a quality education for all.
Enjoyed the interviews. Much sounded like stories of my mom growing up. She said, they traded their homemade biscuits for some store bought bread. That store bought bread was such a treat back then. Ms. Charity had some good points to make.

What a beautiful lady with a beautiful spirit. Reminds me alot of my childhood. Looking back on my childhood, we were poor but us children didn't know it either. Because everyone around us were to. We grew and raised everything we had also. We only went to the store for flour and sugar basically. For fun we played tag, hide and seek, built forts and had pine cone battles etc. But what love our families had for each other. And neighbors came together to help one another.
What a remarkable, beautiful lady! I love her story! My Mother & her Siblings were raised in West Asheville, & her accent & pronunciation of her words are nearly identical to my Family's, as well as my own. . I love it! We also eat the same food & really prepare them the same. I enjoyed both video's! Thank you so much for sharing her. Bring her back, please! My Mama is going to be 91 in September, & Ill be 61. We live in South Carolina. I could identify well w/this precious lady. I enjoy your Video's. Thank you for sharing! God is so Great!❤
I absolutely fell in love with Mrs. Charity Gambill-Gwyn! I'm sure most do that meet her! Beautiful inside & out! They saw no color...that is how we were raised as well. Her stories were so similar to the stories my Mom would share with me about living in the country & having funerals for the chickens, etc. I thoroughly enjoyed these interviews. I share a lot of those memories. Forts, marbles, funerals, ball, fishing etc. She brings back memories I was born in a coal mining town.. When I was young we were brought up we didn’t see color. We were thought to love everyone.
