The US doesn't "need help". The simple fact is that Jamaica is smaller and so it can pool its talent while the US is way larger and its talent is more spread out. Also, in Jamaica the top athletes themselves tend to enrol in or transfer to particular schools which means there's even more concentration of talent. When it's country vs country, that fact becomes clearest as then the US is able to collect it's far-flung talent and compete at the highest level.
Track and Field is not America number 1 sport. Track and Field is Jamaica number 1 sport. Jamaica has 6 or more other popular sports like cricket, soccer, basketball,Rugby, baseball, netball etc but the people like track and field. Not the same in America. Most of These Jamaican kids running to get their family out of poverty. Some might get a scholarship and so on. The passion for Track and Field in Jamaica and the English speaking Caribbean is way more than it is here in America. Hopefully in the future someone can start a professional track league in the Caribbean so the kids who didn't make it to the Olympics can earn a living doing Track and Field as a professional. So I am not going to compare US high school kids and Jamaican/Caribbean high school kids because the Jamaican kids are running to get their parents out of poverty and I cannot say the US high school kids are running for the same reasons. I don't understand why some of you Americans keep living in a fantasy world. High School track and field is way better in Jamaica and the Caribbean. Boys and Girls Championship and the Carifta games is way better than any track and field event in America. The passion is thru the roof. South Africa, Namibia, Nigeria and other African countries have a high level of passion for Track and Field as well. NFL, NBA, MLB etc dominate the sporting airwaves in the US. US kids are routinely told to switch from Track and do Football. Nobody paying attention to Track and Field in America. If anyone thinking of starting a professional track league they would be wise to have venues in Jamaica, Bahamas, Trinidad, BVI and all over the Caribbean and then have a few venues in the US and Canada. The crowds and fans in Jamaica and the Caribbean would be crazy just like the Jamaican fans at Penn Relays.

@@Stewy-xw9fz 💯 track and field is very beloved in the Caribbean, and yes you are right, they running to get their families out of crushing poverty sometimes. This girl I went to school with was very good in track, got a scholarship to come to the US, was able to enlist in the US army after college, got a green card and citizenship thru the military. She grew up in boardhouse with a zinc roof and no running water. Sometimes it's not about the big bucks like in American sports. Kids in the Caribbean not looking for millions dollar deals sometimes you just want to feed your family.

So my comment is not like the rest, it's one of concern. I wonder at what point we start teaching these young stars to NEVER EVER accept drinks, water, food or ANYTHING FROM ANYONE. At this stage they should already know and implement this. Anchor went straight to dude for something to drink. We MUST protect our athletes and make preparations for them especially when they are in a foreign land. I see the same thing happening in Jamaica at the national stadium all the time. Mr Jerry Hollness(my high school coach) always took a huge cooler with replenishment for everyone and always told us not to drink from anyone. Just an observation

Because it's a lot of heats they have to run so as one race finishes another start immediately. That's how it has been over the years. They use the starting blocks for the finals

@@thomasmiller28 this been going on for years the Jamaican dominance in high school at the Penns, I think it Wouk even a lot more competitive if Texas high schools would compete at the Penns, Long Beach Polly did well years ago but that was only one event 4x400m boys, but the Jamaican girls basically win every relay event on a yearly basis at Penns.

The point that I'm making, is that the United States, has produced more 100-meter Olympic sprint gold medal winners, than any other country in the world! As far as the men's 100 meters are concerned, the United States has won 16 Olympic gold medals to only (3) for Jamaica! And when it comes to the women, the United States has produced (9) gold medal winners in the Olympics, compared to (4) for Jamaica! So if you combined both the women and men gold medal winners in the Olympics, that equals (25) for the United States, and (7) for Jamaica! For a small country, Jamaica has done really great (RECENTLY) but over time, the United States is too big of a country, and will continue to dominate Jamaica in sprinting! There's going to be eras, when Jamaica will produce top notch sprinters, but in the long run, the United States will (mainly because of its population size, with over 350 million people, compared to Jamaica's 3 million population) continue to dominate Jamaica, and the rest of the world in sprinting! I also honestly believe, that Africa, will evently be the biggiest challenge for the United States in sprinting, and move Jamaica to third in the world in sprinting! Recently, Africa, is starting to produce world top notch sprinters, and if that trend continues, Jamaica will eventually become a (footnote) in top sprinters around the world!
Now when it comes to the 4x100 meter relay for men, the United States men, have won (15) Olympic gold medals, and Jamaica (2) And when it comes to the women's 4x100 meter relay, the United States has won (11) gold medals, and Jamaia (2)! And if you combined both the men and women, 4x100 relay gold medals, that equals (26) for the United States and (4) for Jamaica! Now when it comes to the 4x400 sprint relay, the United States men, have won (18) gold medals and Jamaica have won (0)! For the 4x400 meter relay for women in the Olympics, the United States have won (8) gold medals, and Jamaica has won (0)! So therefore, if you tally up all the sprint races and relays gold medals, and combine both the men's and women's in the Olympics, the United States has a total of (69) gold medals and Jamaica has a (WHOPPING 11) (IN THE HISTORY OF THE OLYMPICS)!
So Jamaican fans, please stop declaring Jamaica, as the sprint capital of the world!!!! Because when it comes to comparing them to the United States, it's totally ("LAUGHABLE"), when it comes to gold medal count in the Olympics!

I believe, if it were possible to look into a crystal ball, and see how many gold medals, the United State would win, at the Olympics in the next 100 years, (in sprint events) the United States, would still dominate Jamaica, as well as other countries around the world! I also realize that the small Island of Jamaica, has made tremendous strides in the sport of Track and Field, lately in the Olympics, but they just don't have the population, to overpower the United States, in the long run. There's going to be years, where Jamaica will beat the United States with some individual talent, but in most cases, it's going to be like their (15 minutes of fame)! Look what happened to the Jamaican men's team, after Usain Bolt retired! I warned the Jamaican fans years ago, that they should enjoy the men's sprints as long as possible, because they weren't going to sustain their dominance over the United States forever! Many Jamaica fans, thought that Yohan Blake, was going to step right in, and continue the Jamaica dominance over the United States, in the sprints! Now, the Jamaica fan's don't hardly talk about the men's sprinters anymore, the only thing they can hang their hats on, is the women's sprinters. I'm going to warn the Jamaica fans, just like I did, a few years about the Jamaican men's sprinters, ("enjoy the women sprinter, as long as you can") because eventually the United States women, will recover, and dominate again, (just like they have in the past)! I really enjoy watching great sprint talent, no matter what country they represent, but I get upset, when some Jamaica fans, start laughing and poking fun of the United States sprinters, when they lose. If I was a Jamaican Track and Field fan, I'd just enjoy watching them win and compete, (and not laugh and throw darts at the United States sprinters)! Because just like that old saying, ("HE WHO LAUGH LAST LAUGH BEST")! It's just never good to ("WAKE UP A SLEEPING GIANT") like the United States, when it comes to Olympic sprinting!!

Obviously, Jamaica has the top woman sprinter in the world, (Elaine Thompson) but the United States is still the world leader, when it comes to producing the top women and men sprinters! (IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE)!
