    You are the only one who focuses on every single problem with this car. I'm from germany and took a risk in buying this car because it rarely exists here and no mechanic has experience with this car. I had the same problems with the interior lighting that you fixed and now i have this problem as well and you are at it again.
    Thank you for you work and keep it up!

    Great video. Thanks for the walkthrough.
    I will add though that my vibration didnt go away totally with this fix. After putting the door back together and the rattle was still there, i dismantled the door again to find that the screw that holds the window regulator in place was ever so slightly loose. About 1 full turn and a nip later and the rattle was gone. Worth double checking all the other fittings before reassembling the door.

      Thanks Roger. I'm really happy you feels this helps because a door rattle is probably the worst kind. Difficult to remedy but since doing this, my door rattle is gone so it's proof that the aging sponge deteriorates over time and then those two cables start touching which causes the rattle.

    Had the same problem with my XF. The foam rubber must be of low quality to perish so quickly. Not seen this issue on other Ford influenced vehicles of the same era. I also noticed that the sound deadening foam blocks near the door lock may be loose. One appeared to be at an angle. They are stuck onto the inside of the door panel, but once again the glue perishes. They are a pain to remove but sometimes you can put double sided adhesive strips on them and the stick them back into the correct place without removing them. Worth doing whilst you are in there!

    • @carfanfan

    Thanks for the vids... very helpful. Next time you're in there with the door card off, you should Dynamat the doors. Go to town... hit every metal surface both inside and out. If you don't want to spring the $$ for the Dynamat brand name, get some non-branded stuff from your local Home Depot type store. Far cheaper.
    Why do this? It cuts down the ambient noise by several dB's. The car feels chunkier and more solid while the road noise is lessened. I did both front doors and the difference is quite astounding. And yeah, the stereo sounds better, too. Well worth the effort.
    Btw - I did mine while chasing down the exact same rattle.

    • @carfanfan
      @carfanfan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Kevin. My car's windscreen washers are pretty strong. Weak spray is an indicator that your windscreen washer pump is on its way out. It sits on the bottle behind the right front wheel fender liner. The liner must be removed and then you have full access to the motor.

    • @pauljohnston712
      @pauljohnston712 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      IIRC there's also a screen filter on the pump that can get blocked and as Hilton said it's behind the wheel guard

    Thanks for the instructions Hilton, hopefully I will not need. Do have a question, I lost my Bluetooth connection, meaning the BT receiver endlessly searches for my phone, but never pairs? • @carfanfan
      @carfanfan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sometimes helps if you delete all previously connected devices. The car has a limit to how many devices can be connected over time so delete everything and start from scratch.

    This weekend I was going to do my front grille (black), unfortunately last week I developed a rattle on the rear nearside, really irritated me. So, with great trepidation I removed the door card (took me a while because I was maybe too gentle), nothing came to attention, nothing moved, the cables were all secure, nothing loose. Disappointed I replaced everything. Still the rattle. Usually I'm the only person who gets in my car as its usually too and from work, however that night I had to drop my son off at his girlfriends..........After that the rattle had gone!!! Turns out it was the passenger seatbelt wrapped around the seat, rattling around the door column. I was both pissed off and relieved.
    Moral. check the simple things before removing bits!!

    I have an infrequent, intermittent rattling from the Sunroof on mine. I think it's a loose headlining clip as it stops if you push lightly on the headlining behind the closed sunroof. I dare not attempt to solve it though. It's been there since about 10Ks mark.

    • @carfanfan
      @carfanfan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't. But the best thing to do is have someone go with you in the car and listen to isolate where the rattle actually is. Once you know, you can fix it. It's very general to know the area you have a rattle from, but when you know exactly where you can take things apart to see what's causing it. It might not even be the dash but rather the left door. Or it could be something your glove box. Make sure you have all your keys, coins and anything lying around the door bins out and then test drive it. I had a rattle in my center console and it turned out to be the coins I throw in there. 😉

    • @carfanfan
      @carfanfan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, you need to remove the door panel as well as the speaker panel inside and get a little flash light in there. Sometimes one can't see it, but its there. There could be a little stone or something that got in there. But my suspicion is that something broke previously, perhaps a window regulator and they left a piece behind.

      Sounds like you need a new window regulator. When they go bad, the window sensor thinks there is an obstruction like a hand in the way and won't dial the window all the way. My driver's window is now doing this too, so I will most likely need to replace mine as well.
