Better get used to rebuilding IF cans because mica caps are ALL wearing out, some after 80 years in the can. This is part of restoring old radios, so the info you supply is very useful to all of us. Thanks!!!
Hi Don. I have a cheap Chinese tester. But actually I usually measure the plate cap by unsoldering the coil and using the same tester to measure. The internet usually supplies usual cap values, and if any suggested values are used, the coil can be realigned to achieve proper receiver performance. i haven’t had another bad i.f. transformer since. a lot of repairs but no silver mica disease
How did you measure the inductance of the coil? Can you just buy a meter that measures inductance? I’ve never seen one.
