Only the European version radio is capable of expanding additional freqs. From what i heard the us version has removed necessary components that converted when opened.. When you opened it, to the right is a white loop wire. Clip it and move the pin jumper will add freq bands which are selected on wx button. Dont know if US version will allow it
This radio is now longer available for sale. The new version is coming out within the next month pending FCC approval. It now contains FM with the new FM CB Band. This radio no longer contains the weather band. It has been replaced with FM. The weather switch is now a AM to FM selector switch. The new FM band starts at 27.435 - 27.535.

Also, try to find a vintage Turner Road King 76. Ceramic amplified noise-canceling with speech compression. I haven't found a radio yet that it won't turn into a screamer.

It's been a very long time since I have worked on one of these however there is a hidden menu I believe you will hit the upper right hand corner and hold it while turning the radio on you can then go through the menu with the up down channel select and there should be something to the effect of modulation This is the one you want to adjust the to the upper limits for to perform a bit better
Well antenna upgrades are usually one of the best to get the most out of something however you can also take it in to a local shop or Sunday in for a tune up
It aint a skip shooter base station maul dropper express, it is a keen, compact road rig. Hella features and low draw so you wont pop a cig lighter port fuse 5 miles into the trip. It can be a great "driver" radio, since it can be adjusted down in carrier and modulation.
wilson little wil is mediocre. i retired mine. small magnetic base. little wil has a whip which cannot easily come off the magnet base. go with wilson 1000 mag mount or get the stryker mag mount. either one has a antenna which is longer and unscrews from the magnetic base. stryker mag mount is heavier then wilson. plus stryker has a larger coil , sra10

Hidden menu available to up the output to 4.5 watts and to put modulation to 80%
Mine does right at 100%. The modulation adjustment works in reverse. 50 is max, 180 is minimum.

No you can typically use about any type of antenna is designed CB use.

I dont have any of the analytic gear. How could i improve the performance of the radio without damaging it. Im running a lil will antenna.

How do you get into the secret menu?
I would also like to get into the secret menu, but since its secret I guess we're not suppose to know.
