They're called spring bars. Google spring bar removal tool, they'll cost a couple of quid. I wouldn't recommend a metal strap as they put too much pressure on the plastic back of the watch, causing it to crack.
Very good demo on how to change the watch bands on a Moto 360. By following your lead I was able to put on new watch bands on my Moto 360. Thanks alot !! I had to cut out a small notch on the centre of the band, very important or the watch may crack. I also used a watch band with a "quick release pin" this way when I replace it again it will be very easy and very quick.
thanks for this! I took my last one to the jeweler and he got confused and broke the plastic back trying to pull it off, so I had to send for a new one. did it myself without breaking the watch thanks to your video!
I dont wanna sound like a hater, but I think you should shorten down the introduction speech on your videos.. Almost on every droid life video it takes 1.5 minutes until you actually pick up the device and start showing what it is that you're planning to show..
I've picked the 360. After returning the gear s. I have the black version. What color goes with black? Other than the black band that it came with. Another question. Are there any other bands that are longer? Since I have big wrists and i have it on the last hole.
I was thinking the same thing. I have the black one. I think the silver looks a lot better but I got mine for $99 so I am not complaining. Maybe the brown leather band would look OK with the black watch.
I was thinking of getting a Moto 360, but that watch band system kind of worries me. With that gap in the band and the notch in the watch, it looks like only bands with that gap by the springbar will work. Sounds like Motorola is trying to go proprietary with it.
I did take out the original bands of my watch and i noticed that the pins are bend in the middle, i dont know why and i was to ask what should i do, i have to buy new pins? Where do i buy them? And more important why the pins are bend?
Thanks for the video. Glad you made it though, and not me! I had so much trouble that TH-cam would have banned me for good due to language. Finally got it though.
Mark Mendel I also came from SW2, my first smart watch :D got moto360 and getting pebble time steel. Pretty much set until the next moto or good AW SW gets a speaker and significant days added to battery life
Hi! I have searched all over the web and can't figure this out. I have a cognac leather 1st gen Moto. I would like to change to a different band completely. Can I use a band that is NOT Motorola? What size would I use? THANK YOU!
Hope I'm not too late, 22mm width bands (or smaller, but there will be a gap) will work. If the band doesn't come arm bars, you'll have to buy those too.
+xavier latorre Actually, the video just took long. 1 minute before he even started showing how. But it got to the point eventually which I appreciated. It's just a compression rod. Press in, remove, switch bands, press in to reinstall. Much easier than I expected.
as an owner of the LG G watch.... after seeing this video, I understand why Apple succeeds where Android fails. To change an Apple band... you need no tools whereas google uses standard watch bands which no one has these tools to swap bands in and out. :( by the time this video is over, an Apple watch owner would have swapped out a dozen bands by now.
The Jeff well if I owned b Moto 360 I would like to change it for the different functions. For instance maybe a date with the wife a nice leather band. Maybe going "sports" mode I'd hit up rubber. And a business meeting go back to leather or metal. As of now, I have different watches. I have my Tissot for work, I have my Microsoft Band for working out, and I have my leather Citizen for going out with the wife. I'd rather just have ONE watch at this point.
yubstep yah apple wins with there watchbands that cost $50+ lol and thats for a silicon one. A leather one from moto cost $30 lolololol plus you dont even have to buy the ones from the oem. You can use what ever band you want. Apple fails here again 😂😂
LpZ if you are concerned about money... then Apple isn't for you. Then again nor should an android watch as well. 5IVE watch for you for $20. amzn.to/1KxkNAM
yubstep LMAO Apple succeeds in making a garbage looking watch. Same with Samsung. Moto is actually the best or 2nd best looking watch out there the other one is the LG watch.
Can you use Apple Watch bands? Because I really like the Milanese loop for the Apple Watch and I was wondering if I could do that please respond quickly
+Edwin Garcia havent tried it but most likely not, I don't know much about watches but I'm guessing they use the same kind of pin attachment thing, I'll give it a try and tell you if it works.
The "flying out" part can be a problem. :) The first time I tried to change a watchband, it was a clumsy process because every time I pushed on the springbar, if I didn't do it just right it'd go flying across the room. :)

damn 80 bucks for the metal one? You can get a knock off one on Amazon for like 10 lol. I'm sure the quality is much better on the official one, but if the cheap one breaks and you have to get another, you'd still be saving money lol
Sure it not as easy or simple as Apple's watch BUT it is such common method, that anyone who knows watches can do this. So if you havent done this before. take it to literally anyone and they will cost $5.
Finin O'Callaghan ok? who cares tho? I'd rather spend 5 minutes changing the band than $500 extra for something that does the same thing as my 360 but worse.

Thanks for the helpful video, I switched to cognac leather from stone leather.
for as much as those bands cost those little tools should come with the bands. right?
ironically the unofficial ones come with tools.
it seems like any 22mm band will fit.. or does it need to be a moto 360 proprietary band? thanks
any 22mm band will work
@@brickman409 few just ordered one got a little worried
glad you did this video I am getting my official moto 360 dark metal band tomorrow and I need to know how to do this :)
PKTV Steel Metal& Leather Band For Moto 360:www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UOOUXMW
Got my band today and this was a great help!!thank you!!
So you can use a normal watch strap along as it has the hole for the pin?
You dont decompress the pin when you put the band back in you "Compress" it!
Well this was very helpful! Thanks for the upload. The cognac leather looks great too.
I dont wanna sound like a hater, but I think you should shorten down the introduction speech on your videos.. Almost on every droid life video it takes 1.5 minutes until you actually pick up the device and start showing what it is that you're planning to show..
Bro, it's called a spring bar. Do yourself a favor buy a $5 spring bar tool. A slight slip/mistake will scratch that metal using a flathead.
Great video. Could you show how to shorten the metal bands?
You should do the metal band because they should come with plastic ends to prevent cracking.

Great video. Can you put a link here to find a screw driver that small. I cannot find one
Does this watch work with any band? Or is it only possible with specific 1st/3rd party products?
The new band includes its own pins. They are behind the little booklet that comes inside the box.
I was thinking of getting a Moto 360, but that watch band system kind of worries me. With that gap in the band and the notch in the watch, it looks like only bands with that gap by the springbar will work. Sounds like Motorola is trying to go proprietary with it.

Thx...really helpful. Just switched my grey strap to a black.
Do you have to use exclusive moto 360 bands for this watch?? I bought some universal ones from Amazon - 22mm and can't get them to fit!! Frustrating.
As long as its springbar and 22mm it should work
The metal band is slightly different, no? Is there a tutorial for that one?
Anybody know where there's any stock of the old brown bands for this model?
where did you buy the new bands?
what's the width/length of the straps?
they really use have made this so much more easy to do like the asus band they have
Bro from where you buy strap
will these fit the new moto 360 the mens 2nd gen 32mm
*42mm
Mens 42mm case uses a 20 milimeter band.
Mens 46mm case uses a 22 milimeter band.
Womens 42mm case uses a 16 milimeter band.
why wouldn't you do the metal band? theres a million and one videos of the leather band posted.
You make it look so easy. Good video thank you
How long before the leather smells?
Thanks for the video. Glad you made it though, and not me! I had so much trouble that TH-cam would have banned me for good due to language. Finally got it though.
can you use standard watch straps?

spring bars*, not arm bars. brain fart.
I appreciate that ! Thank you ! Not too late !
thank you did as u said worked flawless with no hassel!
Where can I order the official Moto360 bands?
Great job! It was easy to follow.
Which size is that
Thanks for a great video, if anyone thinks this is hard to do it's not at all, just be patient. I changed it in 5 min.
you might damage the pin using a flathead screwdriver, watch aficionados use a spring bar tool to change them
Can the moto 360 strap be used on a g watch r does anybody know?
I need your help to repair my moto 360 sports Addison
Should've changed the metal band.
Most ppl want to see how it looks with the watch.
22mm band?
Bloody hell that took long. They need to redesign.

yubstep Lol , how common do you change the band ? + there are a lot of other 100000$ watches who are hard to change the band !

Changing Bands starts at 1:25

+Edwin Garcia ah alright, I'll do it anyway just incase someone else asks
Never attept this, absolute impossible and watch back plate is incredibly delicate
Can you remove the metal links by yourself?
yes you need a watch kit from amazon

When you have a grip slide down and then CARFULLY slowly pull outwards and it should come flying out.

thanks for your help sir
Great video! Thanks!
I take it same rules apply for the LG G Watch R
Not to sound negative but I wish Motorola made this a little more easy to switch bands I can just see a lot of problems with this for clumsy people
Show the metal one!
damn 80 bucks for the metal one? You can get a knock off one on Amazon for like 10 lol. I'm sure the quality is much better on the official one, but if the cheap one breaks and you have to get another, you'd still be saving money lol

Thanks.
great video east to follow
This looks nothing like my Moto 360, there is nowhere to fit any tool
thanks!
Cheers guys.
wow its the same thing like in a mechanical watch!
For 30 or 80 dollars you would expect it to come with a strap removal tool which probobly costs a few cents to make😂
And compare this to changing apple watch's straps lol no contest
Finin O'Callaghan ok? who cares tho? I'd rather spend 5 minutes changing the band than $500 extra for something that does the same thing as my 360 but worse.
Damn it I wanted to see the metal band, not a ugly colored leather band that everyone already has.
рукожоп
Why does it take all THE EXTRA explaining? Had you just did the demo with no talking you would have been done in less then one minute 🤷🏽♀️🤐
Would all metal bands(including 24mm one) will fit into my moto 360 black leather watch?
