This game is awesome, you can make it as easy or hard as you want, and I played it for the first time with free build turned on but found it so boring I had to switch it off and restart it. I now have over 600 hours playing it and like yourself was always playing Xbox and Play station games when I was younger. Now I only play with keyboard and Mouse games. To turn meters on during the game press "G" most streamers like it off while recording but I prefer it on, Look on your Map "M" and pick a place near water and a Cave marked with an X Somewhere Central as you will need to Visit a lot of POIs.
