THANKS! WELL DONE! Watching The Spider-Friends on Saturday mornings before going to my local drugstore to buy comics (50 cents way back then) was a geek highlight of my early-1980s high school days!
I agree with you I also think that Spider-man and his Amazing friends would make a great movie but they need to portray the characters right and from the original way they were created to.
This show was cheesy, and it doesn't have the more mature storylines and crisp animation from the 90s Spidey shows to present day, and it doesn't have the legendary theme song that the 1960s Spider-Man cartoon has, but this was still an AWESOME show for anyone who grew up in 80s. Plus from like 1981-1983, this was the only "current" Spidey cartoon we had until the Christopher Daniel Barnes animated series showed up in 1994. The background music for Amazing Friends was INCREDIBLE, even if the storylines were silly, the background music is unmatched and really set the tone of a scene. Dan Gilvezan was a perfect college age Peter Parker/Spider-Man, he sounded young and also very witty with his sharp quips. The trend lately is to always keep Spidey in high school and have him sound 14 or 15, but I feel college age Spidey has more story possibilities to open up.
What was unique about Spidey in this period was that he had two cartoon series running simultaneously. There was Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, but there was also a series that told Spidey's solo adventures. Both series used the same animation templates but utilized different voice actors.

I thin after no way home this might be the inspiration for Tom's 2nd or 3rd of his new trilogy. His more sparkly suit is very much influenced from this version of spidey I feel and I think having him be with mutants will work out well for marvel and don't sharing the character

I had a Spiderman annual in the eighties in which The Green Goblin got killed by being stabbed by his own flying bat(sorry probably wrong discription)after killing Peter Parker's ( aka Spiderman) girlfriend. I always wondered how this fitted into the canon of Marvel Comics. Plus I thought the movies changed the appearance of some of the Marvel characters TOO much although I liked the appearance of Spiderman in the three original Tobey Maguire movies and I think the special effects were better and nowadays there is TOO much CGI.
Firestar was indeed created for the cartoon and was absorbed into the mainstream Marvel 616 universe. Like Iceman, she's a mutant. She later became a member of the X-Men, the Hellions, the New Warriors and then the Avengers.

Most of the effects were done in Adobe After Effects, Iceman for instance was done by inverting the original footage and then adding various glow/reflective effects to make it look like ice. As for the sound effects, I edited this in Final Cut Pro and that program has a pretty large sound library. If there was anything else I needed, I'd usually just search on TH-cam and would normally find what I needed.

This show really kickstarted the Animated Marvel Universe a little over a decade later in the mid 90s.

One of my favourite toons as a kid. Firestar is why I bought Thr New Warriors in the 90s. It's a shame what they did with that book in later years 😞
