Cool, perhaps I am being too picky, but it seems to me that the topics touched upon by Unto Others lyrically seems to be a bit too campy speaking from a Goth oriented perspective for an Unto Others album to be considered best Gothic Metal album of the year. Having said that, Unto Others is a great band no doubt about that; just in my opinion a bit too campy in some aspects for being given this accolade. I'm stating this from the perspective of someone who is primarily a fan of the Gothic genre going back decades. While this album came out 20 years ago, for me a perfect Gothic Metal album would be King Diamond's 'The Puppet Master'--all the gloomy, doomy and horror vibes are prevalent on that album. As you can tell from my comment, I am biased toward doomy and gloomy oriented music.
I just got done listening to this album, and I am LOVING it! Unto Others is totally up my alley, so after hearing STRENGTH, I was looking forward to this latest album. I was rocking out like a complete dork by the end of it. Automatic purchase for me. HOOPS!
Randomly discovered Unto Others 2 years ago when they were on tour with Arch Enemy, Behemoth and Carcass. I wasn't the biggest fan of their show, but their studio stuff is amazing.
Yeesh, I'm not sure how I missed this review when it came out but luckily for me, I just watched it now. I think the album is amazing and everything you mention is accurate, it's amazing how Unto Others really blend so many genres, influences, and sounds into something that is uniquely, unmistakably their own sound. I will admit that, at first listen, I wasn't sure what I thought of the album, because I always considered Mana (when, of course, they were still Idle Hands) to be the benchmark. Strength was great, but I felt like they tried to be too heavy and loud and it sounded forced in some spots. But, after four spins of this album, I can definitely say that it is amazing in its own right and it definitely is one of the best Goth albums of 2024 without a doubt, nevermind the other genres it manages to drag into the mix, kicking and screaming.
I love Unto Others, they are one of my favorite modern heavy metal bands. They make incredibly catchy tunes. Ill listen to it soon. (Also, just finished new Oceans of Slumber and i agree with you, its Amazing, musically theid best and most epic album. 4.5/5 one of my favorite albums of the whole year)
Funny enough, I was listening to Effigy of the Forgotten before clicking on this video! I’ve never listens to Unto Others but this review has me really curious. I’m going to check them out!
@@themetalmeltdownofficial Yeah when they came out the audience thought it was another death metal band and when he started singing the room went a bit awkward. But by the third song they won the crowd over.
Thanx for the recommendation!! Previewing it now on BandCamp! Like Judas Priest fussed with "Phantas"-era Damned! (Gabriel Franco sounds closer to Dave Vanian than Danzig.) Gonna buy the vinyl...!!
UPDATE: Got the picture disc yesterday... LUV IT!! Especially the Stephen King-esque "when the kids get caught"! This and "La Nuit Sauvage" by TONNERRE are my favorite Metal LPs with a '24 copyright date...
I dig Untoothers, this new one is pretty good, especially the Pet Semetary cover. Have you heard Demon Head 'Through Holes Shine the Stars'? Another rad goth metal album that just came out. Reminds me of Mana era Idle Hands.
Unto others are one of my favourite newish bands. Have u heard the new Castle album: Evil Remains. Some great doomy fun. Ive been enjoying that one today too.
@themetalmeltdownofficial Their also Gothic but they're also like synth pop rock band and they been released a few EP like a couple years until 7 days ago they dropped their debut.
I used to follow the band when they were known as Idle Hands, and I liked the debut back when it came out. I kind of stopped following them for a little bit after they changed names, though. For me, Sonja has kind of replaced them as far as Gothic rock style metal is concerned… but that’s just my subjective opinion.
Decided to take a listen & just wasn’t my jam. I need more darkness more brutality & more beauty to go with the gothic genre of it. Something like gothic death doom band Melem album Mélancolie Obessionnelle is what I like far more. Cries of Pain great song. 🤟
This kicks ass. And I found out they're from my hometown. Pretty awesome. Thanks for the recommendation.
This thing slaps, absolutely going to be the soundtrack to my October. Perfect fusion of dark and gloomy gothic prettiness and heavy riffs.
Literally the soundtrack to Halloween 2024, straight up.

Tag yourself, I’m Sushi & the Banshees
Strength has been one of my favorite albums of the past few years. Never Never Land seems less intense, and more varied. Still liking what Im hearing.

These guys are my favorite band! This album is just so so so so fucking amazing, right what I needed at this point in my life 💯 10 out of 10
Unto Other best Metal Band of the Year!!!

I'm not quite sure how I feel about it yet. I think I like it? But it's pretty different from Strength. I may need to give it a few more listens.
I’m with you; I was on the fence after my first listen, but I sat with it for a few more listens and it really does grow on you.
Funny enough, I was listening to Effigy of the Forgotten before clicking on this video! I’ve never listens to Unto Others but this review has me really curious. I’m going to check them out!
Hell yeah bud, check out their other stuff too. They never miss.
I actually saw them last year when they opened for Carcass. Really good!
Nice. Weird pairing but fuck it, both bands are great.

Idle Hands and Unto Others are actually the same band!
@@angusmcfife yeah I know. I just meant that band sounds more like old Unto Others, less polished
@@MrLando0 makes sense

I've heard of it but haven't really spent much time with it, gonna be changing that soon.
What did you think of a Debut self titled Zetra album speaking of Gothic metal.
Never heard of em, so no comment
@themetalmeltdownofficial Their also Gothic but they're also like synth pop rock band and they been released a few EP like a couple years until 7 days ago they dropped their debut.
Strength is still my favorite
Neon Nightmare and Tribulation is still on the waiting list...hold the horses 😃
No disrespect to them but I feel pretty comfortable with this.
That's fine...i get you...but still waiting...i think i'll buy them all. 🖤🤘🏻

Its all good, Sonja is a great band as well.

This album is a bit polarizing 😅 to say the least, banger TV gave it a hard time, I'm curious now
it is? I find that slightly shocking to hear. Oh well, to each their own.
I was very very disappointed by this one. Most of the tracks felt underdeveloped. The lyrics were overly cringe.
are you reviewing Vended album?
nahh, there's WAY better/more interesting stuff to talk about
@@themetalmeltdownofficial yep. Just diet later career slipknot. Thralls did a review so i was curious what you’d say
