The titles Radiance are putting into their World Noir boxsets have been fantastic. I already have the The Cohen Film Collection BluRay release of Symphony For A Massacre though, so although it's a fantastic film, it makes picking up the set look even more expensive now when it's already not cheap. I'll grab it though because the other two films are fantastic too. I went through a period of watching a lot of Japanese noir a few years ago & Cruel Gun Story was possibly my favourite of all the ones I saw. That & Masaki Kobayashi's Black River I remember really loving. My love for Radiance is growing all the time. I think they are the ultimate boutique label right now for releasing the more obscure great films of the world that always deserved more recognition than they got & that's what Radiance is doing for them.
Italian Connection is great. I love that one. Tokijiro looks great. Want to see that one. That Noir box looks nice, but I have seen Cruel Gun Story a loooong time ago, can't remember anything, but my rating says I didn't like it back then. Black Gravel sounds great. I have only seen two films by Helmut Käutner but loved both very much.
Funnily enough I was just wondering the other day if Viva La Muerte was ever going to be easily available on blu ray. Mad movie! I concur that this a stellar line up for August from Radiance.
Banging bundle, pre ordered. I have so much faith in radiance now that I'm willing to get the bundle even if I'm on the fence about the odd title because they don't let me down. If I had a complaint or more of a request from them, it would be for more scandi stuff like Man on the roof. Delighted to see more Yakuza cinema included.
I do love Noir! Thing is, for me, it’s about the mystery, solving the puzzle. It’s not about the body count or the blood. With some films it is definitely about the latter. I suspect I’ll get the box set, and probably Vive La Muerte as well. The Japanese film sounds a bit bloody for me. I’ve been well impressed by Radiance so far, but it seems to be releasing more martial arts/fighting films recently. Or is it me? I’d use the term ubiquitous for these latter at the moment, except it’s beyond that. Way beyond. Where have all the European releases gone? (Radiance are doing fine on this score, unlike most labels).
Radiance is problematic. Every month I want to get every release they announce. With everything else out and in the pipeline from other labels it's a mountain seemingly to high to climb. A wonderful problem to have.

Glad to hear that the films are great. I can’t wait to get my hands on this set.

Ready looking forward to the World Noir Vol.2 set. All new titles for me… very exciting.

Cruel Gun Story is an awesome film!
I have 2 of the 3 titles in the World noir box but without any extra's. Looks like i will have to upgrade.🤔
Which ones do you have and what are your thoughts on them.
