As someone that used to live and WA and visited a couple times over the years it was quite devastating to keep hearing about the development on the island. I don't understand why it isn't being protected...

They think it's quirky and funny because they have close to no emotional intelligence. They're not even psychopaths or anything glamorized like that, they're just dumb enough not to be able to process how an animal's emotions are equal to those of a human. They process it the same way one does when you see it in a cartoon. They think it's daring and hilarious to see an animal squeal and run around on fire as if it was a practical joke you're pulling on a friend where person you set on fire will be spooked and have a funny reaction but be able to put it out immediately without harm. That's how their brains perceive it. It's literally a dangerous shortcoming of their brains which should absolutely be recognized as needing immediate psychological intervention. Stupidity isn't as simple as "bad at x/y", it's real biological issues that are dangerous and often extemely harmful.

I wish I had enough money just to purchase all the land that these lovely creatures live in so that not a single company can exploit or destroy their natural habitat and it could be a protected sanctuary that tourists would respect and adhere to strict laws. Damn it! It's always the rich that get richer and they never do anything worthwhile to protect this earth and it's wonderful wildlife.

Great video. Daxon, you need to privatize/buy lands like River Phoenix did in order to protect the wild. Maybe talk to Joachim Phoenix and other celebrities that came for selfies to incite them to do so ? Also maybe talk to parliament in order to introduce a systematic wild tax of tourism that is directly redirected to wild protection ? Imagine 5-9% of tourism and wood industry income for wild protection :D and this can last for generations !!! Love from Paris France.

The only effective way is to put the whole island as a National Park so that all visitors will be imposed a Quokka Tax/Fee.
If the Chinese starts to own land or business, that's the END!
