As someone that used to live and WA and visited a couple times over the years it was quite devastating to keep hearing about the development on the island. I don't understand why it isn't being protected...
This is truly priceless Daxon. Thank you for making this video factual, compelling and informative on how we can get involved. Of course, I was saying "how cute" every time I saw a quokka which was a LOT... I am going to share forward and also do what I can to help.
Awww thank you for bringing recognition to this issue. I know I'm late, but you're doing such a great job at bringing worldwide issues up, you def need more than just recognition.
"Some people are even intentionally setting them on fire or throwing them into the water" I'm speechless ... Life in prison should be the answer for such behaviour.
They think it's quirky and funny because they have close to no emotional intelligence. They're not even psychopaths or anything glamorized like that, they're just dumb enough not to be able to process how an animal's emotions are equal to those of a human. They process it the same way one does when you see it in a cartoon. They think it's daring and hilarious to see an animal squeal and run around on fire as if it was a practical joke you're pulling on a friend where person you set on fire will be spooked and have a funny reaction but be able to put it out immediately without harm. That's how their brains perceive it. It's literally a dangerous shortcoming of their brains which should absolutely be recognized as needing immediate psychological intervention. Stupidity isn't as simple as "bad at x/y", it's real biological issues that are dangerous and often extemely harmful.
How can you set them on fire, other than intentionally ??? To keep, to clothe, and feed them for years ??? C'mon, do the same to those retards, exactly as they abuse those cute little creatures !!!
Membership done! This quokka-mentary was so informative! So many things I didn't know before. Thank you for your time and concerns for the quokkas! God bless!
...So, did you inform yourself how much money this charity actually spends on quokkas? If you say "100%", then I can surely say: You were born yesterday.
What is your problem? U are all over these comments with your negativity. For such an innocent and informative video with a man really doing something unlike you, I'm sure, you are.just bringing everyone down with this bullshit. Go somewhere else
...Which is what you're supposed to think. We're living in 2022 and you still take people at face value. blind trust can make matters so much worse. Look out for yourself.
Thank you so much for making this video. My family and I are huge animal lovers and want to see them treated well and fairly. I will pass this video along. Let's help those Quokkas and raise awareness on animal selfies!
great documentary! really well done and i appreciate so much all you do for the animals. the topic is unfortunately bittersweet... by enjoying wildlife we're destroying natural environment. ☹️ this needs to go worldwide, people spread the word and share this awesome video! ❤️
You do realize that companies can help quokkas without donating to charities? Look at the laws! Did you think the fines increased because of some fringe environmentalists? NOPE! Lobyism by profiteers. Also, animal selfies are not abuse if the animal is comfortable. Classic instagram Black/white BS.
What an informative and excellently edited video - I hope ALL watch the ENTIRE video to hear the awesome information throughout. You are a great speaker and your compassion shows. Thank you
This is so awesome! OMG, Thank U so much for this Daxon! I follow u and your incredible work for than. And hey, thanks for to share this and to share tips for help than. I'll share this to many people that i can!
Never want to hear you feel kinda guilty. You do the best you can, there is nothing more anyone could demand. Thanks for your Videos and photos. They gave and give me a smile every time. And a honest smile is a very big gift. By the way: I hate people. Burning Quokkas.........cant find any words.....
Thank you very much for your work☺️ Watching this made me and my family smile non-stop🥰 Your enthusiasm and honesty in raising awareness about the Quokka threats is admirable❤️ I am happy you are doing this☺️
I can tell you are carrying a burden Dixon. How could have known? This beautifully crafted piece is the best thing you could have done. Thank you from a 60 year old fat cowboy who gets instantly tear-eyed in the presence of little furry beasties. What an empty world it would be if we lost them.
You are an awesome human being i can see how much you truly love quokkas 🥺 we need more ppl like you who care. Ofcourse its always the greedy big companies. But damn you seriously deserve huge recognition!!! Great video for quokka beginners lol 👍🏻
I wish I had enough money just to purchase all the land that these lovely creatures live in so that not a single company can exploit or destroy their natural habitat and it could be a protected sanctuary that tourists would respect and adhere to strict laws. Damn it! It's always the rich that get richer and they never do anything worthwhile to protect this earth and it's wonderful wildlife. This video was so well made, entertaining, and very informative. Thank you Daxon for shedding light on what's been happening to the quokkas and letting us all know best we can get involved in helping them.
can anyone invent a quokka treat that you can sell on the island for people to give them with regulations and let that money go str8 back to these precious gifts from our FATHER, bc that smile can cure depression
Have a look at the quenda and Western Australia's fauna emblem, the numbat. There is also the worley. These are all found in W.A. Unfortunately thequenda. worley and numbat are all under threat from introduced predators such as foxes and cats.
The solution you should be advocating for is increased property tax ( double it), and increase operating fees for the ports and hotels, take that extra revenue and use it for conservation. Can't rely on businesses to voluntarily give back when they have a corporate mandate to maximize profit
i love Quokkas and i havent heard of them until now! that explains a lot to me about how cute they are because i havent heard of them and now that i know what Quokkas are i love them! and i thank Daxon for making this video so we know what to do and what not to do to Quokkas so we an help them
Thank u for bringing attention to our beautiful babies. 1.7mil umm 🤔 humans are so selfish. U literally helped an endangered Aussie animal life ❤️ along with all the beautiful people from the non profit. The big companies need to give more. It truly was ur selfie that brought attention to this… so again a huge heart felt thank u 🙏🏽 and that’s coming from a Perth local 😉 can’t believe they did that to develop this island when u brought so much attention to help our babies. Ah so frustrating.
Thank you for your work to help the quokkas and this brilliant video! I had not heard of them until I did a A-Z animal video and needed to find an animal beginning with Q! An internet search led me to the gorgeous quokka!
Thank you. I was in Melbourne and do know nothing about Quokkas because I do not use Instagram. They really look nice, but I would not go to the island. Nature is best without human beeings in the area. But I could buy a toy and found some made of 100 % recycled PET bottles.
Fantastic video, very well done Allan! Was gonna watch 5 minutes, stayed until the end. Liked, subscribed, sharing with friends. To start! Would be great I think if every visitor had to plant a tree on Rottnest Island. To say the least! Thanks for all the effort and this video! 👍👍
At this point, we should just go ahead and find a way to domesticate them and have them live with us. It's better to live on that way than to die out in the wild. We owe it to them to take care of them.
Great video. Daxon, you need to privatize/buy lands like River Phoenix did in order to protect the wild. Maybe talk to Joachim Phoenix and other celebrities that came for selfies to incite them to do so ? Also maybe talk to parliament in order to introduce a systematic wild tax of tourism that is directly redirected to wild protection ? Imagine 5-9% of tourism and wood industry income for wild protection :D and this can last for generations !!! Love from Paris France.
The only effective way is to put the whole island as a National Park so that all visitors will be imposed a Quokka Tax/Fee. If the Chinese starts to own land or business, that's the END!
As someone that used to live and WA and visited a couple times over the years it was quite devastating to keep hearing about the development on the island. I don't understand why it isn't being protected...
It really should be. The businesses want to make $ so not putting wildlife ahead of that. should do
Greed and shallow mindedness
Some people really can't appreciate anything other than money.
"What profiteth a man to gain the whole world, but to lose his soul?"
This is the cutest thing in the world
It's so cute when they throw their babies to the predator to protect themselves 😍😍😍😍
YES,both him AND the quokka 😊
Hey, goats are.... cool, too!
Membership to Rottnest Foundation purchased. Thanks for raising awareness of the challenges facing these adorable little critters!
That's awesome thank you so much 🙌🙌
Don't believe charities which force you to donate set amounts.
A true charity accepts any amount (+ transaction fees)
I learned so much. I watched all the way to the end. You can tell you put a lot of work into that. congratulations.

I didint even know about the existence of these cuties, thank you for this informative video about quokkas 😊

Logically I know they belong in their natural habitat but I just wanna take every one of these little guys home with me and keep them safe :(.
Right? Love em...
Where do you live again?
yea me too 😢 i’ll take two the male and female and i’ll provide for their mini habitat in my house 😭
They should at least have a sanctuary for them.

It's not really a documentary as there isn't many interviews, it's just a really long talking video. 😅
