It is true. My maternal grandma had 3 boys and 7 girls. Maybe, because my both of my middle and last uncles (who passed away) were close to their sisters in age, both of them are kind-hearted and good-natured. My grandma loved and cared for all her children equally and wasn't a cruel mother like this one. But she and her husband was said to have favoured her eldest son a bit more. My eldest maternal uncle, maybe because of this, used to have selfish tendencies of blackmailing to drag his sisters to court for properties and money. Even now, he even comes back to them for money when in crisis which they all give to him.
He's the golden child while she's the scapegoat. No matter what shit the son pulls the mother will blame her daughter and demand her to support the son.

I certainly wont do this on my own child. We Filipinos have brought so much depth to the word "utang na loob" wherein as a children, some are obliged to raise the family from the poor. They have to work hard to bring food to the table, to buy a house and provide the needs of the family. I was like, wasn't that the parents responsibility in the first place? There are a lot of good (elder) sons out there but I feel as a daughter, we always have that filial piety towards our parent no matter how bias they're treating us. Our heart just can't abandon them despite the suffering from the favoritism. In Asia, most of first born son or elder son will have this "privilege", though not all of them. I have similar issue as her. As the only daughter and the last kid in the family, I'm the only one who give money to my mom and dad. Whatever allowance or support money i gave to my mom monthly, will somehow go to my married eldest bro whenever he needs it. My second bro, only support his own family. But thank God I have a kind step mom who takes care of my dad and half sis and good to know that my dad didn't give the money i gave him to any of my bro. Similar situation happen to my colleague. I have similar issue as her. As the only daughter and the last kid in the family, I'm the only one who give money to my mom and dad. Whatever allowance or support money i gave to my mom monthly, will somehow go to my married eldest bro whenever he needs it. My second bro, only support his own family. But thank God I have a kind step mom who takes care of my dad and half sis and good to know that my dad didn't give the money i gave him to any of my bro. Similar situation happen to my colleague. She's like the sole breadwinner in her family and his older brother only use his own money for himself and use the mom's money given by my colleague (the daughter) for the household, food, groceries and everything else.
