Will it take another 20 years before they admit that 'safe and effective'. was a blatant lie?

The Conservatives abolished the much criticised sentence of imprisonment for public protection (IPP) in 2012. However, the change was not made retrospective. On 31 December 2022, there were 2,892 IPP prisoners in custody. Pressure for change has continued.

Wow this sounds awful! I wonder how many people are on these kinds of sentences? No wonder we’ve got a shortage of prison places! Why on earth aren’t they fast-tracking getting this sorted to free up the spaces and let people get on with their lives rather than letting others go EARLY from longer sentences?!

I know of people who've been let out of jail almost twice as early as they should be, it's insane. Face up to the fact that the uk is a more criminal nation due to politician driven decisions.

In the U.S. it's called "violation of parole". "Stole some sweets?" Ah, you didn't get the whole story. I'm fine with this for repeat criminals. But, prison is far too soft. It's a daycare with a gym membership and criminal training ground. There is no fear of prison as there should be.

I have watched the video about IPP twice. I can't believe it. It's so outrageous. Why IPP isn't applicable for terrorists , Muslims who are even imprisoned but for a short time and let free and doing again much more horrible crimes.

So how many times "for stealing a pack of sweets, or stealing a bike" was the victim assaulted? You obviously did not ask the person nicely to relieve themselves of their belongings. You force, threatened, or evn struck the person to get what was not yours in the first place.

No. The people on IPP's are psychopaths with loooong criminal records who have been given chance after chance. I think that IPP's are wrong but remember that it is only the worse of the worse that get them.

I think what he meant was he got in trouble in prison and charged with another crime and had his sentence extended. Is that correct? The whole could be terrorism or tax fraud statement is questionable actually. They are clearly 2 very different types of crimes with far different sentencing regulations etc. He really did not explain ehat he actually did nor did he say what he did to get his sentence increased.
