- "Once Upon a Time in the West" is a fabulous soundtrack composed by Ennio Morricone, from the "Once Upon a Time in the West" western film of the same name directed by Sergio Leone, released in 1968. The film score is one of the top 5 best-selling original instrumental scores in the world today, and sold about 10 million copies worldwide.
I can understand why. It's a real masterpiece. I have heard a couple of superb versions on TH-cam, namely by Ernst (BurnsErnst) and Dave (Trapanner) that are inspiring.

This song will always remind me of my mother. My dad and me would watch this movie and mom always commented how much she loved this tune.
My grandfather just passed away and he showed me this channel. This song never hit me so hard.

It takes a lot of years to get to the point where you can play so simply. Every note he plays is like a sonic pearl. Young guitarists often think they are great because they can play a zillion notes a second.
That's so true. Playing a musical instrument isn't an athletic activity. Above all else, it has to sound good.
It’s what I call “musicality versus musicagility”. Many of today’s speed pickers have no musicality and could not play a tuneful melody on request. Take Duane Eddy: His mastery of timing and touch has had many guitar stars admitting they cannot reproduce his sound despite the apparent simplicity of the picking.
That’s what killed rock and roll. Guitar solos. They must be super easy to do bc EVERY song had an annoying guitar solo shoved into it.
Probably the best of all instrumentals for this piece of music. Errnio would be proud to hear this rendition. Amazing from the first note to the last.

This is my favorite music of all time. I heard this music fifty years ago for the first time when I was 18 years old staying in a friend's apartment un Paris aline by myself. Everytime I heard and/or listened to this music, tears always ran down from eyes. The music was beautiful and also as sad the movie itself.

This Western is my most fav , while your " One Flew Over " just happens to be my favorite all time movie . There has been a couple of not to bad movies since the seventies , but Hollywood seemed to run out of ideas ,so much so , that I don`t bother with movies anymore , but show me an old sixties movie , I`m happy .

While not big on the 'spaghetti western' film genre, no one can deny that the scores are impecccable and your treatment of this is perfect. The nice, spacious echo during the clean sections and then the power when you modulate to the "E-Flat" section with the distortion...Spot on !

When I heard your version and Dave's version, I knew I had to do it.
It is such a hauntingly beautiful tune.
I found it much harder to play than I expected.
This timing is difficult and a lot of sustain is needed.
But I am very pleased with the result.

This brings to mind that we have lost nearly all of these marvelous actors, and most of the real talent that came out during their time in films. I appreciate this wonderful talent to bring that beauty back so us old people can listen to it again, and be thrilled within our very souls.
