人生得一知己足矣，斯世当以同怀视之。” 本次歌曲的主人公是中唐诗坛代表诗人元稹和白居易，二人开创了重写实、尚通俗的“元白诗派”，发起了轰轰烈烈的新乐府运动，主张诗歌创作不避俚浅，讽兴时事，掀起了文学世俗化的新思潮。
贞元十七年，二人相识于长安，此后一同科举及第，一同入朝为官，甚至一同被贬，曾“花下鞍马游，雪中杯酒欢”，也曾“如何远相失，各作万里云”。除此之外，二人才华相当，志趣相投，用他们俩的话来说，是“身名同日授，心事一言知”，亦是 “坚同金石，爱等兄弟”。
两人虽聚少离多，但在宦海浮沉中相互扶持，三十载赠寄酬唱九百章，循墙觅诗是他们的情深意重，梁州一梦是二人的心有灵犀。《唐才子传·卷六》评：“微之（元稹）与白乐天最密，虽骨肉未至。爱慕之情，可欺金石；千里神交，若合符契；唱和之多，毋逾二公者。”
本次歌曲从二人的唱和诗入手，整体根据史实以“我寄人间雪满头”为基调，曲风悲怆而激荡，从白居易的视角回忆了两人“半生奔命，半生为知音”的过往。
曾经“天阶同行，春风同饮”，后来离阔万里，前途飘渺，听闻“故人垂病”，不觉“怆然泪满襟”。一梦微之“不知忆我因何事”，“唯梦闲人不梦君”；再梦微之，君已化作尘土，独留我两鬓斑白寄居人间，虽乐天知命，仍难解忧思。

《小戴礼·王制篇》有云：“天子曰辟雍，诸候曰泮宫”此即言当时的学校。辟雍者，辟借作璧字，言其为一圆形。雍字当写作广字下面加一个邕。邕字乃四方有水，土在其中。广是高屋之形，即指学校的建筑，四面环水。此乃当时天子所辖政府之学校，如同今天的“国立大学”
