This was a brilliant explanation . I am not an animator but a figurative fine art artist and we need to understand this topic every time we have draw any figure or composition for any painting. You have explained it really easily. Loved it. Will look out for the future videos. Thanks much!!

Very informative! I really love your channel. I would love to see tutorials on overshooting, layered animation, straight ahead animation method and retiming or a little facial animation with squash and stretch. That’d also be nice doing live tutorials on Twitch in your spare time. Keep up the good work!

Thank you for the lovely feedback! Those are some great suggestions and I will add them to my list of topics. I touched on layered animation for lipsync if you'd like to check that out, th-cam.com/video/pcPUp8VKjME/w-d-xo.html but I'd like to dedicate a video to layers in general in the future.
Twitch has been in the back of my mind! If there is enough interest I'd love to do some live sessions there.
      Cheers!

Skitty Animates Thank you very much for your message and for taking the time to respond to me. Yeah, that’d be awesome seeing you streaming either here live or on Twitch. Whatever works you the best.
Yeah, all those tutorials are great. I checked the lip-sync tutorial as well. I got firsthand training under Mr. Mark Pullyblank through CG Spectrum. He tends to work in threes or twos for facial animation and doing all the work there at once if that makes sense finishes eyes, cheeks, eyebrows all at once accordingly. There’s still a lot to learn for me.
and no method is better one and other. Layered animation is quite tricky. Well there’s more to add I should say, to focus on specifically
I’m watching PrattBros on Twitch who is currently a mentor at AM. He emphasized counter animation touched upon the importance of counter animation and relationship between COG and spines and that he goes, we are supposed to adjust these in that directions which I didn’t know,
counter animation is indeed very important. You can specifically touch on it as well if you like 🙂
I hope I am not bugging you bringing too many topics.
Can you show us also how to parent polygons like balls so on onto the character so that we can see the character as shapes would be easier to see that way?
and then the difference between straight-ahead work method fours, threes or pose to pose when to do there is there any specific reason why animators try different methods for shots?
quadruped walk cycle maybe 🙂 I would love to see!
You also could do tutorials separately in parts for facial animation if you like for example eyebrows, eyes, pupils so on.
I would want to see personally overshooting as well that’s something everyone claims to know but when comes to mastering it when to use it perfectly we juniors don’t know it that well.
All in all, don’t forget to add your sweet pop outs on the viewport! 😀 it’s very creative indeed very sweet!
I love your channel. It’s so new which is why it seems underrated. But it’s gonna work out, grow soon 🙂 wish all the best and keep it up! We love your channel, support you!

@@dennissabrievski4543 You're not bugging me at all, thank you for all the topic suggestions! My list currently has 30 video ideas (not in any particular order) and I'm always looking for more to add to it!
I understand what you mean by animating the face all at once, it's the way I was taught in school as well, and the end result (in my opinion) looks best with that method. The reason for my switch, was the tight deadlines of working in television. We work in teams of 5 people, and have 5 weeks to animate an 11 minute episode. If I had the time I would love to animate the faces without shortcuts. Maybe I will touch on that in a future episode!
You're right, no method is better than the other. What's important is trying them out and seeing what works for you/the context of your animation. Layered animation in my opinion is something that should be avoided at all costs unless absolutely necessary. The exceptions to this, is adding lipsync shapes on a seperate layer, or if you are applying a cycle to your character but need them to do an action on top of that cycle. Layers are very tricky and also very easy to cause hiccups in your work! At some point I will make a video on how to use them properly.
The difference between pose to pose and straight forward animation is a video I plan to make soon! There is a reason to approach shots with different methods, but it's a little too big for a comments section so look out for that video in the near future 😊
I will also dedicate a video to each type of cycle, quadruped included! With the channel being so new there's so many exciting topics I can't wait to cover.
Thank you again for your kind words and support! I hope to continue being helpful!

Thank you for this video. It was very helpful. I would love to watch more videos like this. I have a request , in the future can you cover topics of body mechanics like center of gravity and others. I am new to animation and I have made walk cycles but I am stuck in getting mechanics right I am confused about what I should do with the hips to get them right? How should I smooth them in graph? What is good posing? Etc...
If you could cover these in future or help me right now it would have been great help.

do we have to apply line of action rule in every single pose?

    • @SkittyAnimates
      @SkittyAnimates  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Line of action won't definitively work in every pose, there are exceptions to every rule. But if you at least keep it in mind while posing, it will greatly improve them!
