I did NOT expect The Knife to be like this... I love it!
I also like to imagine that, in canon, the investogator never speaks. He just shows his notes and in the dating sim part Knife is just droning on and on.
I don't know if you played any of the Yakuza games and I don't wanna assume, but the Knife looks like one big parody on Goro Majima. :P

@Derrick Obara it’s a reference to the character Hornet from the game Hollow Knight (which was played on the channel last year) in the game, the bugs speak in gibberish, and one of Hornet's fight vocalisations sounds like “sha!”

I would totally support a 'Day 2' playthrough, so you can find the rest of the family and get one of the other endings.
Dan: "Yakuza character!" The knife: "Date with the dragon in the dojima" ... That is an extremely well made reference ^_^
in case you don't get it, "the knife" is visually a reference to Goro Majima, the second main character of the yakuza series. "the dragon of Dojima" is the nickname of Kazuma Kiryu, The main character of the yakuza series. so in everything, this was a yakuza reference
Also, when he was describing his blind date, he was literally just describing Kiryu.
Tall, broad shouldered, strong silent type but warm hearted underneath.

Yeah, but the have the worst level six ability ever.......Countercharm.
I'm banned from playing Bards. Something about raising an army at level 6 and giving them all fire damage while sitting 5 miles away playing an alphorn.
Bards were lame except in 1e and 5e and Pathfinder. Possibly some other non-D&D systems had bards that weren't lame, but I think D&D 2-3e and Final Fantasy kind of poisoned the well.
@@nathanbrown8680 You never played high 3.5 with a bard, did you? Lingering song/Dragonfire Inspiration on an Alphorn giving your allies +6d6 fire damage with a flat +6 to attack bonus, damage, and saves was boss.
The relevant edition to when this game is presumably set is also 5e (judging by references to things like Instagram models and the like, it's presumably in a close analog of the present). And Bards in 5e are disgustingly powerful; College of Lore Bard can easily keep up with some of the stupid minmaxed multiclass builds just by being...itself.
I dimly remember Shirley Chisholm from history in middle school.
Also, that's easily the best bait-n-switch I've ever seen in a videogame.
I feel like the puzzle piece you got while talking to Derry wasn't from clicking on the background, but rather from him mentioning that he's the terror of the AP bio lab. They seem to be given for things that are hinting at something going on in the background (such as a shadowy figure moving across a window), and there was that weird floor eating goo, when pat went to the wrong room.
I love this game because crocodilians are so underappreciated and it's nice to see them in an actual game where they aren't being "mean" creatures
I can't believe nobody pointed out that the Knife is basically Majima from Yakuza games. And the blind date he was describing is basically Kiryu. :D

The fact that Neil Cicierega "generously supported" this game delights me to no end.
Btw Bub has a dialogue path about being picked up by his girlfriend (who is a weightlifter, so that might be more literal than usual). It's v cute, and explains that bit during the ballroom maze.

Two adults, one a school faculty member and one with no connection to the school at all, are gallivanting all around the campus having a weird pretend date. This is nice.
The Majima Everywhere System proves just how powerful it truly is.
What is in their zoo's you ask? I presume just regular animals. Except the aligator exhibit, which has naked humans lying and swimming around.

I went and watched it too. Very much enjoyed. And I think I saw a clip that was in his old animation reel here on youtube somewhere. It was a moment of "Oh! I know Dan did that shot!"
Tangential learning in action: I went and looked up that alligator senator. She was a real person and I was so happy~ I would have had no idea since I'm not in the states, but that was still so cool~
Notice in the history, they mention New York City and not Alligator New York City. Which means that both exist in this universe. ...somehow? I am delightfully confused by this game's lore.
@@MrMisterkrazy It's also a case of me listening while doing other tasks because I love the way Carrie and Dan narrate it, but yeah, regardless, I was two thirds of the way through before I was like "wait... that sounds... real"
Maybe the lore of the world is that they evolved from our current timeline, and still are interested in some of the weird things we have had happen XD
The Knife is my favorite character in this game.
I wasn't expecting real history and race to be in a game about alligators.
Now they HAVE to play New Game + if only to give Knife a better date

Getting all the family members is very funny and extremely worth it. I don't know about getting all the puzzle pieces. A few of them are a bit crap, and I haven't done it myself.
The two secret ends are worth it, and the games you missed are too!

you should do a second playthough it not just a better ending but a COMPLETE ending and it complete the story as awhole so worth it

I don't appreciate the jab at bards. I don't play them myself, as I can't role-play charisma, and need full access to fire magic, but I wouldn't dare to underappreciate a bard in the party... (mostly out of fear that they would fill my head with ceaseless laughter and horrible jokes)

if you wanna skip some time in the second playthopugh just do every other puzzle but leave only one left so you can fail at it until you watch the clock that it almost time then win it(make sure you can win it lol or else.....)and then just go get the ending and bada bing lol
