Stupid question but... what is the point of IEMs? Is it to block out sounds that are not part of the performance? Does each performer basically hear everyone but themselves so they can focus on their part? Or do they ONLY hear themselves?
The point of the IEMs is so the performer can hear what they're doing, whether that's guitar, keyboards, vocals, or... at times even both or more. The PA/Sound system usually has a small delay and when you're on stage, you will likely hear the drums mostly because most/all the speakers/on-stage monitors are directed to the crowd and not the performers themselves. The mix varies on the performer. Some performers may want no click/metronome, and some may want more click (like Laura). All the mixes typically get set up each time before a show during soundcheck. The performers can also ask for a certain track to be turned up/down by making gestures toward the monitor technicians on stage left. The mixes can vary heavily, for Ghost they have the following tracks: Lead Vocals Backing Vocals Backing Track (If applicable) Lead Guitar Rhythm Guitar Baritone Guitar Acoustic Guitar Bass Guitar Drums Lead Keyboard (Laura) Secondary Keyboard (Dylan) Crowd Mic Click Track/Metronome Count-Ins (For songs, or for pyro, etc.)
