Only thing wrong with this channel is that they don't release 10 videos a day. Everything you guys make is fun and educational.
I'll never understand the gun community. Everyone calls the AK pattern rifle the ultimate battle rifle and don't complain about the charging handle, yet the scar gets developed and everyone cries about the charging handle
FN has their chance.
Let’s get this straight the SCAR will never be an AK… do you really not see the difference between the SCAR charging handle position and AKs?
Be interesting if PSA ever works a Jackal 308
They just teased it on their Facebook page last Friday. Looking like the SIG Spear at home, which is not a bad thing honestly.
I’ve been waiting for this !
Be interesting to see all the qc issues and parts breakages, maybe a few complete detonations
I've been waiting for it too!
Working on it, Jan-Feb time frame from what I hear.
Carried a MK17(ScarH) overseas and loved it. Even if I eventually stopped carrying it. The only real issue is not having as much ammunition do to weight and space.
PSA is working on a Jakl in 7.62Nato/6.5 Creedmoor can’t wait for that
Id love to see builds on both Dorr's HK416 I am guessing he used and Coch's final AR setup and some stories about taking them on deployments, From a gunless dude in the UK I love what you guys do! Keep up the awesome work!
Retired Chief Warrant Officer 4. I Absolutely Agree SIG Is Knocking It Out For Military & Civilian Side. (FULL BATTLE RATTLE) Out & Clear.
What is fascinating is tracking the evolution of rifles from black powder to gunpowder, and revolver rifles to lever action to bolt action and the machine guns....every year or two, something new came out and changed everything....then the AR-15 and AKs arrived...and now, 70 years later, everything is just some kind of variation on one of those two patterns.
Robinson Arms XDR was a contender. Also a sweet looking rifle.
The Bren 2 is my favorite firearm that I own... I like it more than my Scar and MCXs (Virtus and LT) and all my other piston driven firearms.
Yeah. I’m a big CZ fan. I’ve seen videos of Ukrainian forces pressure washing CZ Bren 2. Great firearms
Still nothing beats the AR15 platform.
That’s a fact
Love the channel, Coch and Dorr are my favorites. Thanks for your service, keep up the great info.
I love hearing war fighters with honesty talk about weapon systems! You guys are quite the team to say the least and I appreciate you for more ways than one. 🇺🇸
Great overview and angle of approach to future development! Great presenters as always!
Always like this type of content.
Said it before, will say it again….
Always best to hear it from those that were there.
I live in the Palmetto State now and own a few PSA ARs and I’m totally intrigued with the Jakl
Thanks for the overview! Well done!
Great Point about Stoner. Brownell's BRN-180 uppers give you a chance to play with the original.
Sig's same manual of arms through different weapons makes so much sense!
Cheers!
The 180 is doing really good. A few more teething issues and a diet away from me getting one.
Thanks for the reviews 🤙🏽
I would like to hear more about the feedback operators out in the field are giving you about how 300blk performs in the real world.
Thanks Guys!
Guys, seriously, honest and humble advice: "Divide your videos into sections as everybody else is doing since years", PLEASE!!!
Wish the ACR would have taken off and not went by the wayside.
First class, really enjoyed, thanks
Bashes the Bren 805 for being too heavy... Praises the much more front-heavy ACR right afterwards
Very interesting vids. Just subscribed.
Why they didn’t go with the SR25 is beyond me
Thank you!
Great video
Great video as always! How about a video on the new "hotness" that never quite made it; kriss vector, .50 beowolf, corner shot, the aforementioned massada, etc... Just a thought, keep the videos coming. 👍
Got the 17s, Bren 805 S1, Bren 2 x 39, and Caracal 816A2 upper. Love the 805 s1 just front heavy, Bren 2 had teething issues with the 7.62 x 39. CZ and HB industries finally got the gas system running right. Love it now. 16" Caracal 816A2 build I did only weighs a few onces more than my BCM recce 14.5". I have a Tinik Perun x16 upper on order that seems to be promissing. The CMMG dissent is another brn 180 design similar to the MCX I thought about checking out.
Good video topic, as the SCAR has indeed impacted the industry
just found you guys , good stuff
I got a sig 716 dmr g2. It's a very reliable but common design so it's immune to sig QC. Very precise in a common calibre.
That sounds bloody nice!! Should put some vide of it on your TH-cam channel brother, us Aussie Combat Vets still can't own shit after getting out so I live vicariously through others who have better access then I do lol!
Whats your main purpose for this beauty?
The ACR is my favorite rifle platform. Sadly, when Remington shut down, so did Bushmaster, for a time. Bushmaster has said publicly and on their website they will bring back the ACR. The problem they currently face with it is getting the proper tooling and reworking their deal with Magpul to start production of the stocks and lower receivers again. Templar Precision is the only "manufacturer" of ACR parts at this time.
Also, I just picked up an MCX Spear LT on Thursday. Love the thing. It's my 4th MCX. I've owned one of each generation, the Legacy first gen, the Virtus, the Rattler and now the Spear LT
I was, and am an LE Remington dealer and was Bushmaster before REM shut them down in 2019. When New Bushmaster got up and running again I signed back up, bought nearly 200 of their new rifles. Nothing like what they were. 95% of them still in my warehouse. Even ‘if’ they do bring back the ACR, it will not be anything like it was.
I went and bought an ACR off GB, I don’t regret it at all.
@@ravensoathwhat do you think the main issue is between the Old and the New?
The spear was really needed for our upcoming war with CHICOM
The ACR did see some testing and was favorable the rifle failed because Remington didn’t have the production capability to meet demand or the money to put into additional R&D to fix some small issues.
I was just about to comment they’re all ar18s then you guys mentioned it.
Love my ACR
Right on 👍🏻👍🏻
SIG's MCX Family are all adaptive to calibers. They all have commonality.
When you look at the 300Blackout round, it is not really very different from the expectations you get from a .30 Carbine.
Pushing it through the AR design certainly made the adoption to SF a reasonable proposition.
Holding breath for Jakl in 6ARC
Except for +400 fps more velocity over M1Carb, with 110 gr rifle bullet ballistics instead of the RN pistol bullet in the M1Carb, and ability to run subsonic and silencer for the sneaky door kickers. It brings quite a bit more than the M1Csrbine
I have an ACR I use for my Goto rifle and I LOVE it. I have a 5.56 and 300blk barrel can’t wait to get some other calibers the awesome thing about the ACR is I can swap calibers in 15 seconds. It is still one of the most modular rifles ever made. Templar Precision is keeping the rifle alive and moving forward
Thanks
Rumble is open carry ;)
I guess I am just excited to see new stuff and interesting developments and concepts (including some old); NGSW tech (6.8x51/.277 Fury and others), LWMMG with .338 Norma Magnum, 6mm ARC, .264 (6.5 x 43mm) LICC (and long stroke FN IWS), Serbia adopting 6.5 Grendel, Perun X16 (semi-DI-piston system), 8.6 Blackout, Mauser CETME 7.92x41/40 with unique copper ring, constant recoil system (Ultimax 100, KAC LAMG, SureFire MGX).
I really do love my 8" Bren 2.
Robinson Arms XCR for the win!
I got to see a prototype of the XM29 OICW at Brashears (Now L3) in Pittsburgh around 2003 when I was working on Airborne Laser (ABL). They developed the fire control system on it. It weighed about 18 pounds fully loaded. The cool thing about it was the programmable 20mm grenade launcher. I think you had two paths that merged with the Spear. You had the changing to a piston driven firearm to allow for a folding stock, and an optics system to make the shooter more lethal at a longer range. The spear wouldn't be much of an improvement without the optics they intend to put on it. You also had the additional requirement of penetrating body armor. I think you hit on all the other issues that were iterations of the development of the current weapons system. The Army has finally has a common round they can use in all the variations of their weapons. Supply had a big say from what it looks like. You can adapt to different lengths of a weapons system and still shoot, but if you don't have ammo it doesn't matter what weapons system you have it ain't going to shoot. I think the Spear will go to the Shock Troops like the Rangers and Airborne units. You will have a mix of weapons after that. Great Video!!!
Like this style
The ACR was part of the SCAR program, it literally lost to the FN bid. There’s a lot of love for the ACR though, and it seems like it should have been better than what we got.

I Was Issued The HK-416 & Humped My .338 Over My Shoulder On The Way To My NEST For Work. However Never Really Cared For 5.56. To Each Their Own. I Only Use BANISH & CGS SUPPRESSORS. Appreciate The Footage. Keep It Coming Past SF Operators As Well.
Fairly surprised the Robinson XCR didn’t make the list.
Coch and Dorr are my favorite team of YTubers.
I like the MCX/Spear concept but there is a problem with the either the lower/upper feed area or a type of magazine as some allow an over-insertion which leads to feed jams. But in typical Sig fashion they don't do versions or mod numbers to know when something is fixed or repaired or not.
As a former OEF vet as a 13f, the last rifle system I played with was our standard issue M4A1. I’m now in the market for a personal rifle, and had originally planned on going AR, but the innovations in the rifle market and the options available, are essentially overwhelming. I have an idea of where to start, but my goodness. So many options. The JAKL has piqued my interest, but some of my favorite 2A channels have had some rough performance with them. Reliability issues etc. though that happens some times. Every time I think I’ve narrowed it down, I watch another video or read a review and makes my step back.
I think you should just go with what you know imo. There are tons of great ar15s available for sub 1500 or even sub 1k.

I have the JAKL in 300blk. Love it, no regrets. It is a bit chonky..
Gentlemen, I am an owner of an [original] MCX, which is the basis for the new SPEAR weapons system. Your review of the evolution of the new weapons system(s) was enlightening. I had not thought about the versatility of the SIG platform before your video despite owning both an MCX and MPX. However, I don't think that 6.8x51 will be the new battle cartridge. Why? For the same reasons that the the M14 was replaced by the M16; i.e. weight.
The 6.8x51 SPEAR is heavy, the ammo loadout is heavy, and currently the loadout is less at 25 rounds. Can the round defeat modern body armor? Yes, but for how long before there is an advancement in body armor? I personally think we can develop a cartridge and bullet that will meet the need without the weight or chamber pressures of the 6.8x51 cartridge. There is no question that we need a replacement for 5.56x45, but I really don't see the 6.8x51, aka: .277 Fury as that round. The 82K chamber pressure, requiring a specialized casing, makes the .277 Fury completely impractical for the civilian market, which is why I believe they are selling the SPEAR to the civilian market in .308.
I am anxiously waiting to see if 6mm ARC becomes the new combat round. Currently the only drawback I see is the loadout is 25 rounds per mag. The 6mm ARC can easily reach out to over 300 yards with more punch than the 5.56 (and) with nothing more than a mag, bolt and barrel change, the AR platform is still relevant. Who knows, maybe the brand new 6mm MAX.
Thank you all for your service. For the record, I worked for the Army for 43 years, 6 months and 19 days, but in all those years, both active duty and civil service, I never heard a shot fired in anger. I would love the opportunity to train with you guys, but at 69 and living in Cleveland, I don't see that happening. Again, thank you for your incredible service and for creating Tactical Hyve.
The Robinson XCR is pretty cool and does have the barrel change capacity. PSA is really stepping up the innovation and diversity game in a big way. Curious What you all think of the new IWI Carmel? I can only imagine the HK costs $4K.
Doesn't matter what the HK cost because they will never sell it to us lmao.
2nding the XCR. Have 3, basically all I shoot now
I have been wanting a XCR pistol for a while. But my wife got me a gen 2 Galil and I'm still on the honeymoon 😂
Thanks Coch and Dorr! :) :us
I think you guys should have started with the system that powers all these platforms, the short stroke gas piston. And if you talked about Ar-18, than you should have mentioned Stoner 63 and BRN180, G36 and Sa80 in a bull pup configuration.
Looking good you handsome devils ya'll! Hope all is well with you and yours gentlemen. Love the video's. From a salty grunt
Bushmaster had the acr before Cerberus corporation bought Remington, bushmaster , dpms ,federal ,speer, ect. Remington defense didn't have the project until after the merger . This was the same time Remington came out with the .30 Remington AR and the hybrid receiver system which is still alive at wilson combat. The Magpul Masada program became the bushmaster acr. Which became the bushmaster/ Remington defense acr. This was also the heyday of the piston conversion kits for the AR15 platform. The Barrett m468 and rec7 were still amazing and had the arms sir system handguards and not just a marketing name like now. silver state armory was producing combat loads for the 6.8 spc . The surefire m500a was the height of weapon light design . green lasers started showing up on the market . The Remington msr was the Pinnacle of bolt action design and is highly influential on the Barrett mrad. It was a heady time in the gun industry. Today is very lack luster by comparison. Despite all the companies out there making ar rifles ,parts kits and uppers now ,we had far more options back then . People are amazed by the products psa has, but that was normal back in the day for most companies.
I recommend putting an ACR/F5 stock on your Jakl
Pass On Pencil Barrels & Any Suppressors That Have Welds Inside Especially Around Baffles.
PSA has more recently done more w/jakel. Also may want to check out their KS47. That things a Winner.
I really like the new XM5/M5/XM7/M7 or whatever they are calling it this week. The new 6.8X51mm cartridge based on the .277 Fury is exciting. I think that it is more suitable for a DMR and not for everyday Troops in any branch. Although, all troops managed to carry the M1903, M1 Garand, and the M14 for a long time and didnt complain about the weight. Many old Vietnam Guys still swear by the M14 over the M16 and even the M16A1. The SIG Spear is capable of any caliber and all the configurations you mentioned and I think that it will be the new "Service Rifle" for the entire Military in the coming years. Whether or not everyone is carrying 6.8x51 is debatable.
Id like to see something done like they did with the .277 to the 5.56 so that you could get the original 20" M16 velocity out of a 77 grain projectile coming out of a 14.5" barrel suppressed...The Hk416/M27 the Marine Corps is using is a decent idea. But its got a 16.5" barrel and with the suppressor its longer than an M16A2, almost as long as an M14 and damn near as heavy as the M14. How is that for CQB/CQC (I cant remember what we call it now) Tanks, Motor-T, AAV crews, etc. We did it with M16A2's when I was in but that is ancient history. With the new Sig Light machine gun weighing about the same as the M27 with suppressor the reasons for getting rid of the SAW are not a factor anymore. Id like to see the Marine Corps go to a 14.5 HK416 suppressed for Riflemen. Then have 1 "SAW" gunner with the new Sig Light Machine Gun M250 and 1 Designated Marksmen in each Rifle Squad. And some development of the 5.56 or similar light round to get more performance out of it using the 77grain projectile from a 14.5" barrel. The new 6.8 blackout and the 6.8X51 cartridges suggest that there is a big shift in the technology in Ammo coming. The polymer cases that dont get hot and transmit heat to the chamber are interesting too. Im still sticking with my trusty ole D.I. AR's in 5.56 for now. and AR10 or Bolt action .308's for longer range work....Thanks for a great video guys!
The XM7 is a turd, kicks like a mule as it has to operate at 80k psi to meet the Army's ballistic requirements and weighs just as much as any other battle rifle. There's nothing innovative about it, it's the same old sh*t in some new shiny packaging.
@@boostavyou got the chance to shoot the XM7 have ya?
@@boostav sorry your little baby hands can't handle the recoil of a real round
Ive been a fan of the HK433 when i first saw it in 2018ish . Its the only HK 556N id ever buy . Too bad HK got but hurt because it lost in diffrent Mil submissions and HK said they will not be releasing on any commercial market .
HK433 and SPEAR LT would be my 2 favorite picks post 2005 SCAR PROGRAM
If y’all want to play around with an ACR you might can convince Dana at Templar Precision to build you one of his Scythe’s
I still love these father and son videos with coch & dorr😂
Looks cold there in Montana. Im thinking your in the Helena area. MT is beautiful but not a bitchen as AZ though.
I've been watching for a while and I always want to ask, why the double mic setup? So each camera has a sound feed? Simple redundancy? Sponsorship?
The hk g433 problem is hk sells very little to the public and its basically an acr made by hk
Dorr and Coch 're the best imo
A lot of people I've seen, like the BREN, SCAR and JAKL types more than the MCX line, due to that rear T charging handle. Less gas to the face it seems when there's a can on the end.
I’m in that group, why would I want to Spend $2500+ to get the same rear charging as an AR and not enough gas adjustments? Makes no sense to me.
Guess one they didn't like was the Robinson xcr but oh well.
Would like to see a civil version of the HK though
I don't see where the HK433 is available for purchase. However, I do own the SCAR 17, ACR, MCX, and a Gen1 Bren. All of them are outstanding rifles. Great list!
HK won't import them
Surprised you guys didn’t at least mention the Howa 20 Japan adopted it and it’s 5.56 it’s pretty slick from the looks of it, of course being a rifle from Japan I doubt we’ll ever see them or ever be able to have someone shoot it and give a report on it.
Getting a fully ambi manual of arms seems like a small thing but it's a huge impact IMHO.
Frankly to use a typical m4/m16 style Manuel of arms is very limiting. Oh you need to lock or drop the bolt, you better be in an optimal position to do it without waving your barrel all over the place.
Running a lmt Mars lower with Ambi charging handle in classes vs a vintage lower charging handle combo has been a night and day difference.
Particularly at my gun club, we use chamber flags so being able to fluidly and safely manipulate the bolt really helps.
I have an LWRCi ambi M6IC DI, the whole reason I bought the LWRCi was because I’m cross eye dominant and didn’t know if I was going to shoot rifle lefty
I agree. ✔️ Im not much for SBRs or rifles, small arms. That said: a rifle with complete ambi controls & a solid 2 pt, Vickers or Edgar Sherman sling would be ✅️.
PSa Jakl is a beast, people will dog on it because it’s not expensive but I’ve had not one issue with it. I’ll probably get the 308 they are coming out with soon as well
Unfortunately, the Magpul Mosada became the ACR and was sold to Bushmaster which was bought by Remington........ "BIG MISTAKE!"........😬
Kilo 141 (hk433) is a beautiful gun
You should have mentioned the Robinson Arms rifles. It beat the FN SCAR but was disqualified for administrative BS (the tester didn’t have a BFA).
I was thinkin about the Bushmaster ACR, I had a Sgt while I was in the Marine Corps who bought one when they first came out. It was cool but I don't know about $2600 cool. I know that this ACR/MASADA came out before the FN SCAR, I think that they tried to market it to the Marine Corps first, or maybe since they didn't get the SCAR contract maybe they tried pawning it off on the Marine Corps. But I heard that when they brought it out to the Commandant of the Marine Corps to demo it I guess he pissed the Commandant of by saying something like are you ready to see your new service rifle, and the Commandant replied, we'll see....😐. Anyways the Commandant wasn't impressed and we never got the ACR/MASADA. My Sgt was so hyped about it because of barrel swaps and caliber exchange kits and ect.... He had his ACR and I had my Franken-Built AR-15 that I bought off of a buddies dad for like $960 at the time. He goes well it can do this, this, this and this.... I go ok, that's cool but mine doesn't need that, or that. He's like it's a piston system so it shoot cleaner... I go, ok. Adam's Arms makes a piston kit for this for like $365-$385. He's like it takes AR-15/M-16 mags.... So does mine. He showed me how to take the handguards off and disassemble the gas system and take the barrel out and swap out the barrel and bolt for another caliber.... I go that's cool😐. I can knock out these two pins, take this upper off, thrown on a new upper chambered in whatever caliber I want it chambered in with the optic already on the upper and zero and swap out the mag. It was a lot faster and I didn't loose any small parts in the field. And if I loose any small parts, the weapon is down. He wasn't very happy with that. He tried telling me that he could hit me from across the flight line with it.... In a .223/5.56. A 55gr or 62gr, even a 69gr or 77gr is not makin it across a flight line. That 55gr-77gr pill will get thrown so far off by the cross winds that it won't even make it to me. Now a Remington 700 .308Win's a different story. Those ACR's were cool back then, I think that Remington also sold them at one point along with Bushmaster, I just looked on Bushmaster's website.... Again they weren't really $2600 cool back then, they're really not $6000 cool today. Just sayin. I can't even find dealer pricing on them.
What kind of muzzle device was on that jakal? Ive been looking for a trainer but only find surefire
Jakl wont work on an AR lower. It takes a special lower to hold the recoil spring and BCG in place. The Jakl lower that is required is around $250 - 300
No love for iwi huh which has more guns out and been out longer.
From the tavor, galil and Carmel which has finally hit civilian market.
Have you gents had opportunity to review Robinson Arms xcr . If not , Is it possible for you to do it
What's that intro music? I know I have heard that elsewhere before.
I want that stock brah brah
The bren 2 is the modern assault rifle.
the Jakl is basically another copy of the AR-18.
The XCR was and is a better platform. It was Robinson s ideas rhat got the SCAR program started. Yet no mention.
they should just go back to a battle rifle like the m14 a but use a realistic chassis for it that doesn't make it weigh 10lbs. and modern knowledge can also easily fix the accuracy issues
Atta Shipmate!!
Automotive vehicle/human interface was standardized around WW I. Every car uses the same steering, accelerator, braking interface. Why does it make any less sense to standardize the essential firearms interfaces? The AR controls are so familiar it only makes sense to standardize on them.
I have 2 MCXs, I like them, but they are quite gassy and they need to stay hydrated if you’re shooting in moon dust.
No APC223 series rifles?
Karl Brugger is the most innovative firearms designer since John Browning. (He makes the fun stuff anyways)
B&T guns run better than my scar 16, bren 2, and just about anything else.
I just wish there was more B&T content online. 😅
How do we get tshirts and hats with the logo on them?
No B&T APC on the list?
What make of stock is on the scar in this video?
Beretta NARP Kg 3,3 the best!!!!!
