Great Job, as always! When I mounted my Nova DVR (wish I had kept that one) I found 4 hockey pucks and put those under the feet. Super stable! Thanks for the videos.
Looks great Mike. I like the idea of drawers and cabinet space. Currently I’m thinking of making one for my lathe and grinder on the same cabinet. I’m thinking of a bank of drawers and a cabinet with shelves on drawer slides to hold turning blanks. Now all I need is the time to make it.
Mike; For my breakdown step I use a small battery trim saw and a 4' track section. Put a piece of rigid foam under the wood. Works well and I can take it to the lumber yard.
Nice tip on lubing the drill bit/jig. Looks as good or better than anything I've built to date. BTW, good to hear someone say Robertson instead of square drive.
Thanks for that. I think I spent more time planning and designing then making. What was that Lincoln said about sharpening his axe? I saw your hat in one of your videos. Thanks for your service.
looks good mike you do nice work . looks alot better then my through together in a pinch stand lol . i am not a cabinet maker at all so i would be scared to trust one i made lol .
A nice looking cabinet Mike. Interested in how works for you. I found that a lathe on wheels produced too much vibration and that adding weight was a real plus. Also not sure how pocket screws will hold up to use with a lathe long term. Please keep us posted
Are the drop down or fixed? I like the idea of casters that move up out of the way, allowing levelers to adjust for an uneven floor. And that you are using marble sheet for weight instead of loose sand or concrete.
Locking casters that stay in contact with the floor same as the lathes at my club. Don't think it will be a problem but certainly not idea' Am adding a granite counter scrap for extra weight.
Looking go, I added a piece of 1/4 rubber between my stand and lathe to help with vibration and squeaking. I couldn't sit on the floor or even in a stool like you have! Boy, is it tough getting old. Will you be bolting and unbolting the lathe to the stand to get it into your vehicle?
If I had to transport a mini I would carry my Jet 1014 at 72# vs the Laguna at 40# heavier! I will probably leave the rubber feet on the lathe. Will have to wait and see after I finish the stand.
Hi Mike, For some odd reason youtube stopped putting your notification up and I seem to have missed a lot of your videos. I have re-clicked the bell and things seem to be back to normal. What have you been doing to your knee, it looks very painful. The lathe stand looks simple but sturdy and should provide lots of storage that is a win in anyone's shop.
Very helpful video Mike. I'm a new turner in the Atlanta area and recently bought a Rikon midi lathe. May I ask where you purchased the 5x5 baltic birch from? The big box stores don't sell it as far as I know. Thanks!
how did you determine how high you wanted the lathe to be? I think mine might be to low my shoulder tends to hurt after turning i am 6 foot 3 so everything is normally to short for me. do you reference off a point on your body, like with a workbench top set to the height of your wrist off the floor. any advice would be appreciated thanks
I added the link to the video descriptions www.mikepeacewoodturning.com/resources-3/demonstration-and-project-handouts/ It is crude because I don't use any design software so did this in Excel. Hope it helps supplement the videos for you.
I am leaving the bandage on it a couple more days before I look but I think I safely avoided a couple of stitches. Thanks for your comment on the stand. I am back working on the drawers today.
If you find my videos helpful, you can buy me a virtual cup of coffee with this link. www.buymeacoffee.com/mikepeace3Y
Nice job on the stand Mike. Looks to be very sturdy without being bulky or over complicated. Just right for your new lathe.
You did a great job on this seeing this in person. Very robust.

Thanks. Making one of these takes some serious effort. Good luck with yours.

Sounds like a good solution. I don't do this often enough to put up with storing the foam board!

@@MikePeaceWoodturning you're welcome. And thanks for the appreciation.

Will do. If anything works loose I can dissasemble, glue and reassemble but do not anticipate a need for that. We will see.

I bet your feeling it being on the floor for that long lol i know i was!
That was a very entertaining video on many levels thank you lol
Yes, it does get harder for us old folks to spend time working on the floor! Thanks for watching.
That's a good looking stand, Mike, now it just needs that new lathe mounted up. :)
The lathe is just waiting on me to finish up!

Thanks for checking in. TH-cam does not always send notifications. Been working today on the drawers and door.

Suwanee Lumber. They also sell 4x8 as I discovered. I give lessons in my shop so please contact me if interested. 😃😃
@@MikePeaceWoodturning Are you located in the Atlanta area? I'm am just east of the perimeter. Is there an email for contact about lessons?
You will probably want to put some weight in that bottom shelf. I use a sack of concrete and it seems to work well!
I have a 9 1/2" x 14" piece of granite that will fit nicely without impacting on my cabinet storage!

The general rule of thumb is the spindle should be at your elbow.
Good job on this stand however unable to find the link for your excel drawing. Please provide.
Sorry, I have finished my documentation. I will let you know when it is available, Rick.

Well, you can do something besides turning wood. Way to go, Mike.
But it is struggle.I am making the drawers today and feeling like a complete idiot. I am making too many measuring and cut errors.
Hows the leg is it healing okay? , like your stand btw 👊😎🤙

Mike that's good to hear and can't wait to see it full done and your new lathe mounted on it , take care
That’s going to be a very nice stand. I didn’t know that was a (hammer drill)😂😂
Sure sounded like it I know! 😁😁😁😁
