Late afternoon on July 8, terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir fired at an Indian Army convoy on way to a temporary operating base from the base unit in Kathua in Jammu sector, marking a sustained escalation in insurgent activity in the region over the past few months. The ambush left five jawans dead and another five battling critical injuries in hospital.
