There are 6 beaches in Kanyakumari and depending on your hotel you can make a plan! Muttom Beach Sanguthurai Beach Sothavilai Beach Kanyakumari Beach Thengapattinam Beach Hidden Twin Beach
For male - they need to be bare Chested! For females - I was in jeans and t shirt and could go in without any hassle. But to be on safer side - avoid shorts.

There was arrangement of marriage between Parvati and Shiva but when Shiva was coming to marry and on the other hand Parvati was ready in bridal dress with a garland in hand then Shiva fell asleep on the way then was afternoon time and by a conspiracy made by Narod Muni there a cock crawed loudly and Lord Shiva woke up and thought that it was now dawn and he didn't turn up at the place of marrige due to this time mistake on the other hand Goddess Parvati was waiting and waiting for Shiva but ultimately the marriage didn't take place and She remained unmarried therefore Kanya (daughter or girl) Kumari (Unmarried) name originated.
