An omnitool has been stated to be made of purely light and interacted with using Haptic Adaptive Interface technology similar to what you mentioned. A special micro chip in the user's gloves tracks the users finger positions and reacts accordingly. With the holographic display mainly just serving as a visual guide for the correct positions. When in the correct positions, force feedback is applied by by motion accelerometers in the gloves to make the hologram feel tangible. You also don't need gloves. Committed computer users often "go bareskined", having the chip and accelerometers surgically implanted into their own hands The omniblade itself is a disposable diamond hard blade flash forged from the omnitool's fabricator. The blade is made from omnigel, which is made of common industrial ceramics, plastics and light alloys melted down into a liquid paste and used in the fabricator. It's common for soldiers to melt down scraps of material or even their own non-essential gear on the battlefield for other purposes. Such as the repair and modification of more essential equipment. The blade is also almost entirely see-through, with it's signature orange glow actually being holographic warning lights outlining where the edges of the blade are for safety reasons
Funny how Kyle and Because Science will post a video at the exact same time but Kyle's will get way more views. Even when old Kyle is in the thumbnail. Shows just how important the host is to the success of a show.
@J Robert no, its their property, they can post those videos if they want. They have alot of those videos backlogged and even made a post mentioning they were going be uploading these.
You should do a series on how strong benders from Avatar are. There are lots of examples of Aang and Katara cutting things with water or air. It would be an interesting series to observe all 4 elements, and the most powerful ways they are used.
Next week, how do you power it? That's the real question with energy-based weapons. Standard firearms are far more efficient. Granted, you don't get the spiffy GUI. Also, would it run Linux?
Only thing is in Mass Effect, they have the fictional Element Zero that allows for the creation of mass effect fields when powered by electrical charges. I don't think we'll have this kind of stuff in our world, ever, but the idea of light that can be touched safely as well as burn through things (not to mention haptic feedback) would be great.
Hey dude, you explain science so well , much better than and teacher I have met before. Now the problem is that I can't understand the molecular structure DNA and how cell divides. So I request you please please make a video on it. It will be really helpful 😊
Haptic gloves are actually the way that most normal people interact with those holographic displays in-lore. The people who get the surgery to have the feedback devices in their fingers so they don’t need gloves are considered a bit weird and nerdy in-universe.

It would be really awesome and super useful. With that kind of tool you could manipulate the size and shape of the blade, which would really help in different scenarios. Like cutting someone out if a car wreck or just production of metal things. I hope someone actually uses this technology in this way in the future
Oh absolutely it can and would be but of course like we see in the mass effect games it would also be a weapon for war. I could see the blade being used as a replacement for the jaws of life like firefighters use. It would be quicker, safer, and more compact and easy to carry around not to mention it wouldn't require so many people in order to operate.

How else would they know "exactly" when he was uploading and have it ready to go the exact same moment? Yes I know they COULD but just think it through its the analytics.
Way back when you did a video,"Can you uppercut someone off the ground?" Since this is related, how about "Can you survive Doomslayers Meathook(his arm blade)" i think it would be a cool vid!
Yes you are. Just because it's new on this channel doesn't mean it's a new episode. This one came from the original Nerdist channel... Just like all the other videos featuring him since he went on with his own channel.
@@sjoerdvandeweg4702 so they are calling thee videos "new" even though long time viewers would have already seen them from the time before the move to a separate channel? Dang I was hoping for actual new episodes never seen before. I've watched all the original episodes from nerdist already.
Episode suggestion/Request, How would you have to swing a sword to make a 'Flying Blade Attack' that is seen in many anime like 'one piece'? and How fast would you have to punch the air to make an air cannon type attack like 'Might Guy' can make from 'Naruto Shippuden'(Might Guy vs Madra fight for best reference)?
Did you just make the coolest weapon ever? TLPIKGS, The laser plasma interactive keyboard glove sword. It comes with WiFI capabilities and Bluetooth, so you can talk to the peoples universes you, cough i mean, to the people you love anyway you want. Lol
If only the real Protheans left behind their amazing tech for us to find and learn from. If I remember correctly, that's what a lot of the tech stemmed from. So that would mean that even super high tech like in the game was from a more technological species, meaning we need to find some alien tech... Somewhere and hopefully not grab the attention of the Reapers.
What is "hard light"? And is it possible with the science we currently know about? We've seen it used in several sci-fi universes such as Halo where hard light shields and ammunition are used
@@JasonWW2000 it could be possible 100 years from now. Who knows really, there are breakthroughs everyday on the field of science so maybe we could one day have a light bridge.
I have another theory . Lore aside what if it isn't a hologram at all what if it is something like controlled nanoparticles or nanobots that form the tool and the blade . It would form an interactive pseudo hologram and in the blade the particle's would move like the blade of a chainsaw or vibrate incredibly fast . That could be strong enough to cut through a human
Now only if you could utilize theuni-tools holographic capabilities to create real 3D artist on a concert stage. Imagine having your favorite Vocaloid or dead celebrity, physically being there on the stage and they could interact with the fans.
So why would this laser-induced omni-blade be any less indiscriminately destructive than the lightsaber if it is capable of similar effects; the energy needed to cut through metal doesn't change, so what about this setup keeps the energy from escaping? Also consider the MASSIVE number of tiny high-powered lasers firing in every direction like a retina-searing disco ball.
I wish Kyle Hill would run for president I would vote for him regardless which ticket he ran on though I believe we can all assume which one that would be lol
Hey Kev I was wondering if you could answer a question for an idea that I had : let’s say you have the power to manipulate gravity would be possible for someone with that power to create a micro Star in his hands ? and how little it would have to be in order for the wielded of the star of not getting things like radiation poisoning?
