Looking for that ENS video. Our litter of 9 pups was born 3/23/23, National Puppy Day! I JUST found your page yesterday. Kicking myself that I didn’t have before birth.
Darn! But it's okay, don't beat yourself up! What a great day to have a litter!! I'll bet they're getting super active about now! Consider litter pan training! We have a great video on that and it's not too late to start!
Thank you so much for this series. I have a cane corso litter that are 3 days old. I wish I had seen this earlier. Not too late though. Again thanks. +1 sub.
Hi! How much and how often do you provide the glucose solution? The link no longer works. Thank you so much. Our litter is due in just a few days. Your potty training video worked 100% last year. Thank you! Kelly’s Colorado Goldens
Solution: 1 tsp Karo corn syrup 4 Tbsp boiled water A few grains of sodium chloride (table salt) A few grains of potassium chloride (salt substitute) Pre boil water, mix solution and store in closed dropper bottle. Dosage: as soon as puppy is dry and breathing give: 5-6 drops per 100 grams of weight. Administer on tongue and not push directly into stomach so it helps to develop swallowing reflex, allowing each drop to be swallowed before next. Then place back with Momma for warmth. Repeat process every 4 hours: Weigh, glucose, Momma; increasing amount to a full dropper or more for each 100 grams of weight until puppy shows signs of gaining weight. Then every 8 hours through the first 48 hours. The pupoies may reject the glucose ariund 24 hours if they have a strong suck and are getting all the nutrients they need from their Momma. Goal is to have all puppies have very strong suck by 24 - 48 hour mark. Keep a close eye on the littlest ones. I hope this makes it to you in time. Good luck! What a wonderful Christmas gift. 🐾🐾🎄⭐️
Hi Jim. Yes, 3x as much as normal. Your math probably looked something like this: Her normal ration + (200% X normal ration) ..... (25% per/pup) If normal daily (pre-pregnancy) ration is 2 Cups: 2C + (4C )=6 Cups. It sure sounds like a lot, but the energy they will expend during the nursing phase is equivalent to the energy needed to run an 11 day Iditarod. Offer three meals instead of 2 giant ones. You actually may even need to increase if you notice your Momma getting very thin. This is just a very solid starting point and works well. I hope that answers your question. Thank you so much for watching. Good luck with your litter!
Our babies, TEN in all, are 4 weeks old. We have been playing with their paws, have already clipped their nails, we try to lay babies on their backs. Can any of this be started now?
Hi Shawna, what you have done already is great, but I think you are specifically referring to ENS, and that you didn't start it during week one. Yes, you can still do it, the puppies will still benefit. Make a simple chart to check off each puppy each day for the recommended 14 days. Watch and follow our video on ENS, I'll attach it, and I'll attach an article on it as well. Good luck! th-cam.com/video/EOlJgxScxQ8/w-d-xo.html breedingbetterdogs.com/article/early-neurological-stimulation

So if the litter is 8 puppies mom should get 3 times as much food as normal?
