My Yamaha EF1000 is doing the same thing, so thank you for confirming for me what needs to be done. I've already cleaned the carb 2 times, but it did not help, so I ordered a new carb that will be here soon.Thanks again my friend!
I would suggest two things. (1) Wear heavy duty nitrile gloves when handling fuel/carburetor cleaner. (2) Not storing your generator with fuel in it. Store the fuel separately, and use fuel stablilizer.
