- Jammu Kashmir is well known. Most of the information out there is half, incorrect or prejudiced, sadly. Jammu is distinct from Kashmir, in terms of food, culture though not history though. They are together due to the geo-politics of region. Our team head Rohit K Sharma’s brainchild, through these series of vlogs called ’Jammu Kashmir GK’ we attempt to find out what all people know about Jammu, and Kashmir of course. What better place than to start from our neighbour Punjab!

While Kashmir is well known for its beauty all over the world, and the politics and terrorism as well, sadly. The world assumes Jammu is Kashmir only. not many know that Jammu, the whole region from Poonch to Kishtwar & Banihal, has been the cradle of world famous Pahadi-Basholi school of paintings, the famous shrine of Vaishno Devi is in Trikuta Hills near Katra and apart from everyone’s favourite Rajma, Jammu’s RS Pura produces one of the best Basmati rice, not to forget Kalaadi (akin to Mozzarella Cheese) and smoked Kimb chat. And don’t forget world famous music maestros like Ustad Allah Rakha, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and Malka Pukhraj have their roots in the hills of Jammu.

रियासत के बाहर , शेष भारत मे जम्मू वासियों को कश्मीरी ही समझा जाता है ।
इसका समस्या का एक मुख्य कारण स्वयं जम्मूवासी हैं । मैं हिन्दीभाषी प्रदेश मे ही रह रहा हूं मुझे अक्सर लोगो को कश्मीरी और जम्मूवासी का अतर समझाना पड़ता है। लेकिन भारतीय सेना,सोशल मीडिया और माता वैष्णो देवी तीर्थ के कारण अब लोगो को यह समझ मे आने लगा है कि दोनो मै बहुत अंतर है।
आपने एक सार्थक समस्या को प्रस्तुत किया, धन्यवाद।

The thing is that Punjabis think only Jammu city is Jammu. And it's unfortunate that even Dogras think that it snows only in Kashmir Valley, not in Jammu

We lived in Lahore. Our ancestor was from the Samba Distt. Jammu. Our Village is very closed to Jammu border (Hinanagar Sector) and I had visited almost all AJK (Pakistan).

Here in ajk, many people form Jammu live , they speak the same language like Jammu city , in our Punjabi has also bit similarity with this accent ,as we are very close to chamb ,koel moel ,...

So, if "Jammu" and "Kashmir" differs from each other according to you then the Pir Panjal region i.e Rajouri and Poonch could be called as "Jammu and Kashmir" because as regards religion and topography it's like that of Kashmir and as regards languages and culture it's synonymous with Jammu.
Anyhow, "Ambar Hills" is doing Great Job, I've watched several of your videos. Just promote your reach on the humanitarian approach only, as your doing already. When religion enters it cuts the things into parts and when humanity is put ahead it brings the hearts closer.

Rajouri is way more like Jammu just like how Kishtwar and Bhadderwah is and even Poonch, Rest affinity lies in mind, We even feel Kashmir is land of Kashyap, Shastras, Shankracharya, Pandit Nehru , Vedas

Jammu and Kashmir differs on many things whether its the mountain ranges or the language. One has dogri and punjabi majority while kashmiri is no where close to any of punjabi derivative language . Cultures differ esp in food . Jammu is similar not same to HP esp kangri chambiyali region .
