I love that Pollox did so well at the dog park when he was not that thrilled previous times. I suspect Lola just needs more time. I think she stays close to you guys to feel secure. They had a good day. It always makes me feel good when I give my dog a good day. My dog doesn’t run at the dog park. He just sniffs. He’s 50 pounds, but afraid of other dogs.
That is so sweet Lola's gift from her daddy. She will love it forever if Pollux don't find it lol. Our Pete was the last puppy left from his litter when we got him. They let him bring home a stuffed elephant with long skinny legs. It belonged to his daddy. He still to this day has and pats biscuits with his elephant. When we say Pete, where's Mr. Elphie? He goes and finds him lol. He is now almost 12 years old. Sorry Maxie can't go but it's best bc he would just get himself worked up and be miserable. I'm sure he enjoys the extra loves and treats which is the best thing for him. Yall are great dog parents.

I have a miniature schnauzer mix. He'll be 15 in January and I have never taken him inside of a dog park. He's barky too and does not warm up to dogs immediately. Pollux and Lola know they have their own special dog park at home where all 3 of them can enjoy it together. Maxie sitting alone by the window. I'm surprised he didn't have a coming apart. 😄
Well, gotta speak as an animal behaviorist here. Dog parks can be very, very good; or very, very bad! They provide an excellent opportunity for dogs to run and play in a (hopefully) safely fenced area, they can socialize with other dogs (you can socialize with other people), they can sniff (sniffing is very important to dogs and very mentally stimulating for them). On the other hand, you have no control over who is in the dog park (people and dogs) and you can get dogs that are either (a) very "pushy" in their play style and they intimidate the other dogs or (b) downright aggressive toward other dogs. You can have no control over the health and vaccination status of the other dogs and the dog park is a great place to pick up "social" diseases. So make sure your dog is fully vaccinated and is healthy before visiting a dog park and a dog park is absolutely not a place for a young puppy that hasn't had all their vaccinations yet. There are plenty of places you can take your young puppy to socialize that puppy. A dog park just isn't one of them. Fine for older puppies and adults, but not young puppies. And you can't control how other people will react. People get in the dog park, sit down and have their head up their app and pay no attention to what their dog is doing and if their dog becomes too rowdy or aggressive, they aren't paying attention to reign their dog in. So, the bottom line is if your dog is social with other dogs and enjoys the dog park, go for it. If your dog isn't having a great time or the other dogs in the park are intimidating your dog, leave. There are plenty of other ways you can give your dog a fun time. I'll leave you with the words of wisdom from the wonderful Michael Shikashio: Dog parks are like bars. Having a good time and socializing are their intentions. There are many that enjoy them and do just fine in that type of atmosphere. However, sometimes: A fight breaks out --- some much worse than others.... There's often some questionable behavior going on, so they're definitely not suited for youngsters. Gratuitous, unwanted humping comes to mind. Mobbing and bullying happen with people---and dogs You might just leave with a communicable disease, so better use protection. I mean to be up to date on your shots. It takes just the right "type" to handle what can happen in that environment sometimes. So if your not up for the bar scene, it might be best to find an alternative.
Thank you for offering your insight. Having been injured breaking up a dog fight, dog parks are not my cup of tea or where I would feel comfortable bringing my dog. I feel bad that it wasn't an activity that Maxie was able to participate in. Yes he is older but he is part of your family and if he barks, he barks. All dogs bark.

Maxie, Pollux and now Lola have won the parent lottery!! So happy for them. Lola & Pollux loved the park you can tell with their tails wagging. They had so much fun running freely with around with all the other dogs. Remember Lola is a "working farm dog" so she does not understand how to play yet with other dogs. She is use to herding cows & being professional at her job. The more you take her to the park the more she will learn how to play with other dogs. Also, keep in mind that lots of herding dogs are also "velcro dogs". Which means they stick with their owners side alll the time to protect the owner & to get the next command to what the owner wants her to do to herd the cows in the right direction. I see this with Lola in your vds. She is protecting you also from harm that she thinks you might get into with these other dogs she does not know. Again, it goes back to Lola's being breed & trained to protect her owners & the cow herd. She is so sweet. Love that her & Pollux got to go to the park together & have some bonding experinces together. Poor max he wants to tell all the other dogs off LOL He is the King of the house & park LOL 👑💛💛

eI love taking my dog to the dog park for exercise, especially since she's an only child and loves other dogs. On her first visit to a new park, she spends most of her time sniffing everything. Later, she checks out the dogs, and she's relatively timid because she's pretty small. But those trips bond her to me, and she's so grateful.
Oh my goodness - such a great video! Ha Ha. We have several dog parks around us, in different communities. They are dog parks situated off to the side of real parks. No homes, no car noise, no car traffic. And, there is a separate gated area for smaller dogs. Whoever planned them, must've had dogs. Also, they stipulate on a big sign at the entrance, you must pick up your dog's doo-doo to ensure no-one steps in it. Poor Randy. I hate when that happens.
We know where Lola’s favorite place to be is-home! But she had fun at the park! I was thinking that Pollux would probably tear the elephant up. Lol. So sweet! Our Maddy always wanted to be home like Maxi. Now that we just have Molly, we’re taking her out more. She loves car rides!

I take my Goober to the local cemetery and I bought a water bowl just like yours. I live in a town of about 500. The cemetery is off the beaten path and has a big field next to it so it's great for dogs. Goober gets his zoomies in.
Lol.. Lola seemed to have a great time at the dog park. We have 2 yorkies who we are " testing," at the dif park. Not sure yet if they are in the groove or not. They are so attached to us, sometimes they just sit by us on the benches!!! Lol. Other times they run around like litttle mice. Irs fun to see the different personalities of each dog at the dog park. We are trying to make our rwo more socialible. This is going to take some work!!!😂
Maybe try a doggie day care facility. Those require dogs to have all the correct vaccinations to avoid passing dog diseases, unlike a dog park where anyone can bring a dog in all stages of ill-health.
I think if you keep taking them to the dog park, Lola will relax and have fun. I’m in a community where we have a nice dog park and it takes some of the doggies a while to get adjusted, but I think Lola will have so much fun when she sees how friendly and exciting it is to be there. As for Maxie help, if you could take her with you , leave her in the car where she can watch the action, but she won’t feel like she’s left out that way. I have two little Chihuahuas. I take to the dog park if they’re old and lazy, but they love to go and just watch everybody and see what’s going on.
i have to tell you a funny story, i now have 4 boston terriers, but years ago when i only had 2 i brough them to the dog park and a lawn chair so i could read a book. within a few minutes the other dogs decided to mark my chair constantly as if i were their territory. i couldn't believe it and had to remove the chair immediately . lesson learned. Maybe she was wondering if she was going to be left and why she became happier leaving with you, two. Who knows but the thought came to mind.
I’ve had two red Heelers, both loved dog park you know sniffing and wagging their tails. But neither of them strayed far from me or played with other dogs. We live near the SF bay and soon as they smelled the water they went crazy.
Oh I don't know how you feel Renee , but I couldnt do that again taking the other two and leaving Maxie behind. My heart broke into a million pieces seeing him looking out the window and searching the house. Thats gonna haunt me tonight. I know you gave him loves and everything when you got back but still... I couldnt do it again.

Lol.. Lola seemed to have a great time at the dog park. We have 2 yorkies who we are " testing," at the dif park. Not sure yet if they are in the groove or not. They are so attached to us, sometimes they just sit by us on the benches!!! Lol. Other times they run around like litttle mice. Irs fun to see the different personalities of each dog at the dog park. We are trying to make our rwo more socialible. This is going to take some work!!!😂
Maybe try a doggie day care facility. Those require dogs to have all the correct vaccinations to avoid passing dog diseases, unlike a dog park where anyone can bring a dog in all stages of ill-health.
I think if you keep taking them to the dog park, Lola will relax and have fun. I’m in a community where we have a nice dog park and it takes some of the doggies a while to get adjusted, but I think Lola will have so much fun when she sees how friendly and exciting it is to be there.
As for Maxie help, if you could take her with you , leave her in the car where she can watch the action, but she won’t feel like she’s left out that way. I have two little Chihuahuas. I take to the dog park if they’re old and lazy, but they love to go and just watch everybody and see what’s going on.
But Maxxie would just bark, and this would be upsetting to him and everyone around. It is best to have him stay home.

i have to tell you a funny story, i now have 4 boston terriers, but years ago when i only had 2 i brough them to the dog park and a lawn chair so i could read a book. within a few minutes the other dogs decided to mark my chair constantly as if i were their territory. i couldn't believe it and had to remove the chair immediately . lesson learned. Sweet video and love the blanket and elephant. I have a hunch that maybe Lola was having a flashback to her shelter days mixing with other dogs and uncertain what that meant. Maybe she was wondering if she was going to be left and why she became happier leaving with you, two. Who knows but the thought came to mind.
I’ve had two red Heelers, both loved dog park you know sniffing and wagging their tails. But neither of them strayed far from me or played with other dogs. We live near the SF bay and soon as they smelled the water they went crazy.
Oh I don't know how you feel Renee , but I couldnt do that again taking the other two and leaving Maxie behind.
My heart broke into a million pieces seeing him looking out the window and searching the house.
