    I came looking for silver and I found Gold..... This is the best explanation I have ever seen on Ford diesel injectors! Thank you! You also open up into another area of injector variables to help your viewers truly understand what they are getting into. Thank you!

    To clarify, those CC capacities are not what the injectors hold, but the amount of fuel flowed over a thousand injection events. So 205cc/1000= 0.205cc per injection. Great video!

    • @robertthomasson7891
      @robertthomasson7891 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks for explaining this. I didn’t understand how an injector could flow say 200cc of fuel and dividing by 1;000 clarifies it.

    • @georgewinstead6724

      Which would mean that a "stock nozzle" for a 135cc/min is not the same size as a "stock nozzle" for a 155cc/min given that same injector pulse width.

    • @peixinho5927
      @peixinho5927 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@georgewinstead6724 a little late... but 135/stock and 155/stock will flow exactly the same on the same PW tune. Same nozzle, same pressure, same pw, same amount of fuel. Body size is just the limit if you bump up the PW

      You are correct... it is per 1000 shots and that should have been clarified in the video. But still applies the same theories and how injector sizing works.

    This is by FAR the best explanation for injector size i have come across.
    Question: If you go to 40% nozzle with 155cc and change PW to a higher number would that help with added performance? All examples you gave were with the stock 30% nozzle...
    Thank you so much!

      There are benefits to dumping fuel faster, but there are also downsides. Typically the downsides of a larger nozzle are felt down low, initial tip in of the throttle, leaving a stop, lugging the motor in OD at low rpms. The benefits of a larger nozzle are usually felt under heavy load when maxing out the injector.

    Excellent Video, Very Informative. I wish i went a Little Bigger with my injectors, just as you said. I'm running KC STAGE 2 With Warren 175/30% injectors. I recently Completely Bullet Proof my 6.0 Got my Custom Tunes from Chris at TSD. I just ordered a AirDog ll-4G 165 GPH Lift Pump. Already have a Regulated Return Fuel System. I want to upgrade my 175/30% Warren Injectors to there 205/30% or 205/75% Warren Injectors. My Question is do i have to do Anything with my Custom Tunes that Chris at TSD already wrote for me ? Also saving up for a Tourqe Converter and Billet Input Shaft for my Stock 5R110, will the Aftermarket Tourqe Converter have anything else to do with my Custom Tunes ? I'm sure the Converter shouldn't have anything to do with my Tunes, I'm just trying to Prevent any Problems with Transmission. Until i have Enough Money to Upgrade entire Trans. Like you said in Video, everyone wishes they went Bigger with Injectors. Wish i did also. Only reason i kept it Mild was i live in a State where my Truck had Emissions Testing every 2 Years. Went through with Flying Colors, that was also with EGR Delete and CAT Converter Delete. Actually had Cleaner Readings through Tailpipe than Before the Whole Bullet Proof, and injectors and Turbo. Like i said gonna be Switching from 175/30% to either 205/30% or 205/75% Question again is my Custom Tunes gonna have to be Changed with the Addition of AirDog 165 GPH And the Larger Injectors ? Thanks ahead of Time for any Responses. Also want to Add when i bought all my Parts for the Bullet Proof Job, wish i went with the Stage 3 Turbo Also and the Larger Injectors to Begin With. Was Debating between the Stage 2 or Stage 3 for a while before i bought. Wish i Went Bigger Both Ways. Turbo and injectors. Couldn't be any Happier with all your Help Charlie, through all my Question i Emailed with you before i bought. I LOVE the Stage 2 lots of Power, Very Responsive. Just Looking for More Power !!!

      With a very custom setup you need to get a new tune or else it wont run as great as it could and parts might not function correctly. If you’re just adding like a y pipe or a new ficm then no. Bur for fuel or air new tunes are necessary

  • @hotrod6919
    @hotrod6919 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Maybe I missed it but so theoretically about how many cc's of fuel can pass thru stock nozzle's at a maximum PW full race tune @ wot? I'm just trying to understand why spend another $400 for 30% larger on the 155's

    • @peixinho5927
      @peixinho5927 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Problem is to dump 155cc through a stock nozzle takes more than 2.4ms and without ficm tuning you will have a hard time running more than 2.6ms consistently because the stock ficm tuning pulls fuel in the higher rpms. On top of that you have issues with refill time of the heui injectors if you run too much PW. Most tuners prefer the 2.0-2.4ms range. 155/stock is ok... but we never recommend 175/stock or 190/stock

  • @thenerv37
    @thenerv37 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    What is the biggest stock nozzle size that will empty at max pulse width in a 7.3

    • @peixinho5927
      @peixinho5927 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The problem will be determining what "max pulse width"... that is a matter of opinion to a certain point. Most tuner run 4.2ms but some go as high as 5.6 ms. But if you run really big nozzles like 250/200 then you don't need much more than 3.6ms
      So you can dump 160/stock on a 5.6ms tune, but not likely on a 3.6ms tune. Same goes for 205/30s. You won't dump 205cc on a 4.2ms tune but should be able to do it on a 5.6ms tune.
      205/80s dump really fast and don't need more than a 4.2ms tune.

    • @kirks6932
      @kirks6932 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know this is probably over a year later on even a single response. But I’ve been running 155/30 injectors from warren, which u have to get custom tunes for or it won’t idle correctly. But god damn my truck is so much quicker and responsive. Idk if it’s just the custom tunes or the injectors themselves(or maybe the mix) but wow. Would recommend 6.4 banjo springs and blue spring mod. Anything that helps fueling. Don’t get an RR or a lift pump with a stock turbo or a drop in turbine. Not worth it because I’ve no performance or cooling on my end.

    My truck dumps white smoke out the exhaust pipe which I believe is unburnt fuel and it will have a rough idle sometimes it just idle fine and there is no white smoke I'm wondering if I have a bad injector maybe the holes are worn out and as it increases and gets warm maybe somehow to extension it helps in feel things up tighter and makes it run better but sometimes cranked up when it's cold it still will idle cool what is your suggestion please I've ordered a new injector because one of these little phone apps that says number four is possibly bad injector or compression or damage on the contribution test but like I said sometimes it runs great and sometimes not cold or hot does not seem to change the difference I've changed the ICP sensor I have a kit on the way to rebuild the fuel filter bowl maybe it's raining extra fuel in there or I heard low fuel pressure will cause it to over compensate on the ICP or the valve or something like that I don't know what do you think I'll change all the o-rings and all the injectors

    What I wanna know is what has lower egts while giving as much power safely. 160/80 cc injectors or 180/30cc, 50, 80 or 100 nozzle? I have a stock 2002 f250 super with 4r100 trans. My injectors are going out and will need injectors soon. I wanna have more power and tourgue but stay within safe h.p and tourgue levels. I've heard since I have pmr I can only produce 400 max up before I break shit. But is that rwhp or up at the crank? I should want better injectors so if later I wanna upgrade more parts I won't have to buy injectors again. I k ow with some injectors I'll need it tuned.
    Every blog I read has conflicting information. Some say run 160/30 while others say 160/80 injectors. Some say don't waist ur money on 30% nozzles cause it's not much of a difference from running stock nozzles. On 1023 website it says that 160/30 injectors will work fine with everything else stock. It also say with these injectors it won't control egts very well. I've also read that the bigger the nozzle the more fuel and more fuel will lower egts. I'd rather buy injectors that will get me to 380 or a little less h.p and detune them unroll I get supporting mods.
    Injectors are to expensive so I don't want to buy injectors now then when I get new turbo and more have to go and. It new injectors again. Also on full force website it says they recommend 180 injectors for my years super duty but didn't say which nozzle size. I have no problem if i blow some black smoke as I don't have smog where I live. I know black smoke means higher egts but if I can keep it in check then all good.

    • @KCTURBOS
      @KCTURBOS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It sounds like you want more power and lower egts, but not too much power. First off what is the primary use of your truck? Daily driver? Tow rig? Depending on what you use your truck for, will depend on what injectors you should run on your truck.
      First off, we have also heard all the opinions on PMR vs forged rods. In our experience, every time we have sent or bent a rod, it has been forged. 500whp is a more realistic power level to stay under. Anything over, you are on borrowed time. This also depends on the purpose of the truck and the driver. I would truck an adult with a 500 hp PMR 7.3 over a teenage who wants to race every vehicle at a stop light.
      EGT management depends on injectors size, the properly sized turbo, the type of turbo, the tunes on the truck and most importantly keeping your rpms up in the optimal operating range of the engine. When towing, it does not matter what turbo or injectors you run, if you lug the motor at 1500 rpms, its going to get HOT. Drop a gear and raise the RPMs up above 2200, and the EGTs will be in check.
      160 or 180 injectors from full force are basically the same thing from full force. We have performed a lot of testing and have found the 180-30% injector to be optimal for towing. This also applies for those who want to bring their 7.3 up to modern diesel power levels. Who’s custom tunes you run can make a big difference also.

      @73powerstroke56 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KCTURBOS thanks so much for the reply and info. I'm not a hot shot driver but I do tow occasionally. Most of the time I'm not towing anything but if ever I do need to tow I don't want to be limited on what I can tow if u know what I mean. I bought the truck used and it has 35x12.50 tires with I believe a 4 inch lift. Engine is stock. It has 200k miles on it and I need injectors.
      Normally I'd upgrade the intake upgrade the trans cooler, intercooler upgrade to a 4 inch or 5 inch exhaust then do injectors. But because my injectors are going out I need to start with those first. But I don't wanna say get injector A then after I upgrade everything then I'd have to change to injectors B. I'm the tryp of guy who thinks it's better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it.
      Basically I'd like my truck to do what it does now but easier and faster all while not dancing with the devil. I do understand that the 4r100 auto trans is the week link on a super duty. But I'm hoping if i baby it and not get crazy and drive it like a hot rod I'll be somewhat ok until I get the $$ to upgrade it. Also I'm 38 but sometimes I like to go fast but 99% of the time it's normal safe zone driving. But I don't wanna get smoked by a Hyundai if u know what I mean. But I'm also not looking for a quarter mile truck either.

    I have a fairly stock truck. Stock injectors, fule system, turbo but I was thinking of going 250/100 and trying to run lower hp tunes and then just have room to grow later. I would want to make around 425 hp cause that’s what my clutch is good for is that possible with just upgrading injectors?

      250-100 injectors are fairly big, so with the right tunes you should be able to hit those numbers. You are going to want to upgrade your turbo sooner rather than later, as a stock turbo will run hot and smokey on that set up.
