    It's snowing here in Ohio as I watch. I'm looking forward to getting mine. I like the hexagon shape - just like nature. I could almost feel the atmosphere when you sat back to enjoy. Thanks for demonstrating. I not only enjoy a good cup of coffee, I also enjoy seeing friends enjoying a cup.

    Thanks Mark I appreciate your informed observations and I look forward to your eight panel tests. One thing I was curious about, I didn't notice you mentioned the triangle. I have heard some people discount the triangle as though they didn't think it would have much value in the field. I can understand how people could make that assumption but the triangle is actually very effective even being one of the configurations I'm most excited about. I'm very interested to see you try it out as a stand-up stove (micro Swedish fire Torch) I'm certain you will be impressed by its performance.

      Hi Steve. I am glad you enjoyed the video. I have a video made showing the 8 sided configurations ready to release. My recent cooking videos are made using the Freestyle as well. I will be making a video showing the triangle setup. I wanted to wait until I had a Toaks Siphon to demonstrate at the same time. They are pricey to buy here in Canada. I tried the Lixada version of the Toaks and it is a bit too big. Thanks for commenting

    Very good. I like the fire pit 6 configuration n it’s versatility, but rather than letting the fire die down n changing to a rectangle fire box, could u not have just shifted the coals to one side of the fire pit 6? I would like to see how that works out please.
    Thanks for ur videos n info 🙏

      Yes, I could have moved the coals around as you suggest but I wanted to demonstrate both configurations. Thanks for commenting

    That's a great stove Mark. I like the long rectangular configuration.
    I would love to see the three sided with wood. I wonder if it would be hard to keep going. I don't think there is a bottom for the 3 sided?

      Working on a video with the three-sided version now. You are correct, no bottom for the three-sided version. Thanks for commenting

    Hey Mark, if you turn that hex configuration about 1/12 of a turn from where you had it, I’m almost positive you could fit all of the legs inside of the tray; thus gaining a bit more stability. Thanks for the looky see!

    Hi
    I was wondering what if you added another stove (3 stoves in all) wonder what the benefits would be ? Could this be made bigger and better do you think ?

    • @MarkYoungBushcraft
      @MarkYoungBushcraft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you could add any number of additional panels. Of course, you would not have a fire grate for it so you would need to set it up on a fire safe surface like inside a fire pit. I am not sure there would be much benefit as the low height of the walls in relation to the diameter of the fire would negate any chimney affect. It likely would not draw air any better than an open fire. It would establish a ring to prevent the fire from migrating outward. Thanks for commenting

    Mark, it's not often that you find a product that will give you so many videos. That set could do away with most of my folding stoves.
    I see you've got another North( )wind in your viewers.

    Another great video Mark. That first fire must have put out a lot of heat and should keep you warm out there.

    Do you think the bushcraft 6 is long enough to create two different cooking zones with different temps?
    And I guess the 8 would be more of a fire pit, like the ones you tried before, but it would have sides to stop the sparks blowing around, no? Do you think it will actually be practical to cook on?

    • @SnowyAspenHills
      @SnowyAspenHills 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is similar to my thoughts as well and I have come to the conclusion that I would use my two 5” firebox stoves in preference to this 6 sided configuration.
      This way one could run gas on one and an other Fuel in the other.
      The freestyle could of course be used as two x four sided set ups.

    • @MarkYoungBushcraft
      @MarkYoungBushcraft  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Bushcraft 8 is easier to "zone" for cooking but I am able to do it with the BC-6. It does require moving coals around. Zone cooking can be done with the Firepit 6 and 8 as well. It is just a bit more work moving the long firesticks around to place your pot or pan. The challenge with all of them is airflow. The open fire grate accelerates combustion greatly and does not leave much in the way of coals. I am working on a few "hacks" for this. One will be in the next video. Thanks for commenting Jim

      @@MarkYoungBushcraft Will be interesting to see your hacks for slowing the burn time down,this is where the 5”G2 wins In my opinion but I’m only commenting on what I have seen so far I don’t own a freestyle to compare.

    It will be interesting to see how the introduction of this stove impacts the distribution of sales over at Firebox.
    I own the Nano and the FB5, and don’t see a single four sided Freestyle filling any missing niche as long as I’m not concerned with weight.
    OTOH, if I didn’t already own a FB5, I could see myself buying the full kit for more flexibility, or just the four sided Freestyle to save weight over the FB5.
    The Freestyle appears to be a more open design than the FB5, so maybe it goes through wood faster, but in terms of the functional use once you get a fire going, I’m not sure I’d see a difference between the Freestyle and FB5.
    Seems like when you look at all the FB stoves as a whole, the FB5 might fall to the wayside.
    Thinking of Firebox’s comments on getting the triangle tested makes me wonder about side by side comparisons, specifically Nano versus Freestyle triangle performance, and Freestyle four versus FB5 performance.
    Can one stove/kit really do it all?

      @MarkYoungBushcraft  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do like the size of the Freestyle. It is in the "Goldilocks" zone. It does go through wood fast though. I am working on hacks to slow it down. I did a side-by-side in my first video but I can do one with fires in each as well. Thanks for commenting

    • @eme71489
      @eme71489 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Would it be easy enough to slow it down by just laying a platform of thicker wood at the bottom of the grate to block the draft? I am only buying a single four sided freestyle because i don’t envision carrying that much weight of the larger configurations here in CA where I can’t burn fires outside of car camping situations. (And I have a Uniflame Bonfire Grill and Snow Peak Takibi for car camping)

    If you turn the hex-shaped setup in the case/base, all the legs will fit inside it.
