when i think about how much depth the soulcalibur lore has i often forget that this is a series of FIGHTING games
damn, starting off the soul calibur series with a good one
I had soul calibur 2 on ps2 and it was damn good.
I've played the original SoulBlade and then SoulCalibur IV on Xbox 360. Not much changed, but then again, not much needed to. Great games
Gamecube here; I got it because it had Link as a guest character. would've gotten it on PS2 as well for Heihachi but that was what Best Buy had. Also got a terrible Robin Hood game that is, I am convinced, completely unwinnable, and Xenosaga on PS2 that day.
Guess which ones brought me actual joy.😹
I grew up on the Xbox version, Nightmare and Spawn have been too of my favorite characters since.

OMG SOUL CALIBUR!! I'm so happy since I can't find any good history on it that's not confusing. I'm sure you had to do ALOT of research since I don't see many ppl want to talk about Soul Calibur since it has a lengthy and somewhat confusing history. I give you props since I'm sure it wasn't easy. Good Work.
Never really noticed how heavily this series has been influenced by Berserk. Huh, how about that.
Siegy's exactly the same as Guts, save for the whole wanting to resurrect his father/adoptive father bit, whereas Nightmare is the beast of Darkness. Probably why I liked this series so much growing up. It's fuckin metal as fuck.
Man! This is one of the best HBTW episodes till now in terms of video and images illustration. You used many cutscenes and in game graphics! Nice work!

Actually from what I know, Night Terror isn't non-canon. Night Terror is a real being and the counterpart to Nightmare within the Astral Chaos. It's officially stated that Night Terror is so powerful that Algol actually fears the being. What IS non-canon however is Night Terrors appearance in the physical world, as Soul Edge has never full come together and if it did well... there'd be no more Soul Calibur universe.
Nemesis Bloodryche I just don't get how guts can kill night terror with all that power, but then again he did fought a God demon
shenell johnson Guts can't. Really he can't defeat night terror. Guts just hasn't fought against someone that brings reality warmers to their knees

Do the swordsman Heishiro Mitsurugi and Cevantes de Leon and Li Long and Hwang. The original Soul Blade line up was classic. Soul Calibur 1 and 2 but after then they started losing me

I don't think Soul Edge automatically turns the user into Nightmare. The sword was used by lots of people before who didn't turn into him, Nightmare only started with Siegfried.

I think you missed some stuff out involving zasalamel as he was the one that allowed it so he didn’t need a hist and (possibly) he turned into abyss which forced Siegfried and nightmare to fight him. But I guess it’s not really necessary

Yes we need another soul calabur and maybe have more guest fighters but with a much better storyline like in 3 what is namco thinking leave tekken alone for a while and bring back soul calabur

Honestly i heard that most Soul fans want a reboot of the series and as time passes by i start to understand more on why they want a reboot. Soul Calibur V was not and i mean was NOT the best entry of the series. Why the series should be rebooted is because the new faces are not memorable (Except the non replacements and Natsu who was the only one who stood out of all the replacements in my opinion), the story was way too short, nothing in the games show or explain how Sophitia (who i read is arguably the main protagonist of the soul games) died in the series at all. it doesnt even say or imply it in the forth game. and also because of the time restraints the game was unable to improve pass its predecessor (besides the graphics) I really hope Namco reboots the series including the original Soul game(s) and hopefully they will keep some of the original soul characters like Huang for example.
