  • The ACC is expanding with the addition of SMU, Stanford, and Cal. On Late Kick Live Ep 482 Josh Pate ranked all 17 programs using a rolling 3-year blended set of criteria including on-field performance, talent acquisition, resource pool, and stability. With FSU and Clemson set atop the Big Ten, is there another team joining the top tier? How do the next tiers shake out? Has Mario Cristobal gotten Miami in position to win big on the field? What about the sneaky job NC State has done? Where do programs like North Carolina and Virginia Tech stack up? Could a turnaround be in the cards for Georgia Tech? Let us know what you think in the comments below and be sure to SUBSCRIBE to the channel and CLICK THE BELL for notifications as we bring you multiple live shows per week!

      yup. That is my biggest complaint of this list. Georgia Tech probably also 1 tier too low but I get it because 2 years ago they were complete joke team. But yea he had tier 2 perfect if he put Louisville at 3 and moved NCSU to 4 and Miami to 5 it makes alot more sense. I would still keep Miami ahead of UNC even though UNC beats them on the field last couple years because Miami bringing in talent while UNC regressing.

    How can you effectively rank portal classes unless you also account for the losses to the roster?

    • @ijustwanttonap
      @ijustwanttonap 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Teams that do well in the portal are usually trimming fat when they lose guys to the portal. I can't think of a single portal loss FSU has had in the last 3 years who would of been a starter. Losing Vance this year hurt at little at nickle as he was likely the #2 nickle. Nobody else leaving hurt them at all. I bet it is the same for most good portal teams.

    • @ijustwanttonap
      @ijustwanttonap 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They are for now.
      Class rankings are a funny thing. The 247 ranking for GT is #26 with 20 commits (17 3 stars and 3 4 stars)with a average ranking of 87.08. FSU is 17th currently. But here is the difference, they only have 12 commits (1 5star, 10 4star, 1 3 star) with an average ranking of 92.89. Clemson has similar numbers just some more commits. As schools fill up their rosters the positions will change drastically.
      I do like what GT ia doing right now. Maybe they beat FSU in Ireland. It's a weird game with FSU breaking in a bunch of young guys. We'll see. Maybe GT is in contention for a conference title. Until then, they are what they have shown. I think they'll be a tough out for any ACC team this year but we don't know until we see it. If that GT defense doesn't learn how to stop the run FSU will blow them out. I think FSU would be happy throwing about 15 times a game if they could. They like their oline and love the running back room.

    Elliott is building something special at UVA, but it will take time. There have been legit signs of progress but UVA is a very tough place to win with the academic requirements and whatnot. The tragedy completely resets his clock and the way the last year should be viewed IMO. Not gonna argue with the ranking, 17 is definitely correct for right now but to say there’s not even a pulse shows no one on your staff has payed a lick of attention to anything going on with this program. Based on history this accurate. I don’t believe FSU roster was/is built for sustain success which is why you get a bowl like that when 8-9 players sit out. Clemson talent is not where it was, I believe Louisville and Miami will become the leader of the ACC. #63-3

    • @ijustwanttonap
      @ijustwanttonap 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh more than that sat out. If you don't understand why then don't comment. FSU had to use the portal when Norvell got there because Jimbo burned the place down when he left. They needed a whole new roster becauae the culture was so bad. The pendulum is swinging with more home grown talent finally starting to rise to the top. It takes a few years to rebuild a program that was that low. Now FSU will be able to lean on the portal less.

But A&M ended up only going 7-6 and losing their bowl game to Oklahoma State who's NOT on the blue chip ratio list (you need at least 50% of your roster to be 4 or 5 star players). Reason Kyle McCord. He led an OSU team in wins over top 10 Penn St and ND. Almost beating National Champion Michigan. 1 year more mature.

    Competitive perception is an important factor you are leaving out. It is a serious issue FSU is dealing with amd they feel strongly about. Going to the B12 does not move the needle, though it should. Some. Also, the numbers people cite for FSU's ratings being less than Clemson's cover the 5 best seasons Clemson ever had against the 5 worst FSU had since pre Bowden. Stretch that out to cover just a few more years and it flips back to FSU. Now that FSU is back where they expect to be they doubled Clemson's numbers. 3.58 million per game to 1.7 million last year.
    Avoiding private equity is in FSU's best interest. Being in one of the Big2 is in FSU's best interest. Maybe going to the B12 makes sense short term but it would just be a band on a wound that needs stitches.

    There is a difference between “Choosing not to use the Portal” and not landing guys in the portal (referring to the comment on Clemson).
    Clemson offered 3-5 Offensive Linemen before Early Signing Day (well documented) but none of them committed to the Tigers. I think there is very good reasons for this. 1. Dabo has built a culture at Clemson where every player has to earn his spot on the depth chart. This is going to be a turn-off for any portal player looking to improve their spot on the depth chart where they have been.
    2. Clemson is currently limited with NIL by state laws. In the past 2-weeks Dabo, along with other coaches from Clemson, U of S Car., and Coastal Carolina Univ. appeared before the SC State Legislature appealing for changes to current laws in the state of South Carolina that greatly restrict NIL to the point that these universities are unable to provide competitive NIL offers with programs like UGA, FSU, Bama, OSU, Michigan, and USC.

    • @CarlaJenkinsTV
      @CarlaJenkinsTV 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      1. Dabo is the problem with Clemson. He's the only one with playoff experience. No one on that roster has any. You're not recruiting the same caliber of player. 2. Please NEVER EVER EVER put Clemson and Ohio State in the same sentence when mentioning NIL. If if the South Carolina state legislature allows for NIL, the Tigers and the Gamecocks will never raise as much as the Buckeyes.

      how can a coach not land 1 guy out the portal? This means either you aren't using NIL on transfers at all AND/OR you aren't being realistic about who you can get. Just saying "he offered a couple guys and they didn't come" is complete cop out and strawman defense for Dabo not using portal.
