  • Heading to the heart of Hampshire, the National trust owned property Mottisfont, is an 18th century, grade 1 listed house that can be found in stunning wildlife rich countryside.
It was originally founded as an Augustinian priory in 1201 which laid the foundations for the 18th century house you can see today.
It was Maud Russell who made Mottisfont her home in the 1930s.
She would invite artists to relax and create their own art inspired by Mottisfont’s past on a visit. With her love of neo classical design, over time, she created a luxurious redecoration of the house and it is certainly eye opening as you walk through.
The Russells were the last family to live at Mottisfont until 1957 when Maud gave the house and estate to the National trust.
With such large stunning grounds to enjoy, it’s a brilliant place to visit with friends and family. We loved the snowdrop walk along the river test, stopping at the wooden play area and playing Pooh sticks on route.
It’s a lovely place to visit and a great day out.
