Icom AH-705 Antenna Tuner with Ray Novak

We had the opportunity to get our hands on the new AH-705 antenna tuner from Icom. Jherica and I activated K-2540 with it, and afterwards, we got to discuss the new tuner with Ray Novak.

Back in the 70’s in the Physics Lab at USM a friend of mine, WD5CQA and I had one of the first MFJ long-wire tuners and hooked it up to a freshly built Heathkit. We hooked a short piece of wire to the tuner and a clip to the other end and attached it to the flashing around the top of the science tower. We gave out a call on 20 meter CW and a French station came back and we had a very good QSO. You never know what “Radiates”!

No, she loves radio but has little desire to do TH-cam She just wants to play radio for the sake of playing radio, and I am totally cool with that. She just loves Ray though so she wanted to do some of the talking.
