    Excellent on the Tekzilla mount. I was just wondering how to upgrade from stock speaker in my 1999 audi a3.
    Edit - What happened to Tekzilla?

    I’ve got a 2000 Audi 13 coup, I’m not sure what size speakers I need, I’ve tried 5,1/4 inch speakers but they’re too large im not sure if I need 5 inch or 4,1/2 inch. Cheers

    do you have any video changing the audi a3 8l tweeters? if your answer is yes, could you send me the link please? thanks

      LucasRibeiro25 just remove the door panel, locate the tweeter and with a screwdriver force it out. No biggie. Good luck finding one that fits that hole though

    I have an Audi A3 1997 8L and I'm going to change my front speakers too. I suppose our cars are almost the same(?) so is that 54mm speaker depth maximum what you can install to the front doors?

    i just bought an a3 8l and the front speakers are not working. i took the door panels off and checked if they even are there and they are, both speakers and tweeters but these aren't making any sound. probably amplifier or wire problem, but i dont know even where should i start, can you help please?

    • @CarAndMechanical
      @CarAndMechanical  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Firstly I'll need some more info - is it the stock head unit or aftermarket? Are you getting sound through the rears? And the the speakers stock or aftermarket?

    • @4parnu4
      @4parnu4 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CarAndMechanical everything is stock and sub and rears are working

    • @CarAndMechanical
      @CarAndMechanical  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@4parnu4 money is on wiring then (less likely head unit is failing - check the door loom for splits. 8L's are getting on in age now and the doors being opened and closed many thousands of times might of split the protection on the wires.
      Also might be worth pulling the head unit in case someone's been back there.

    Thing is I'm watching this but who wants to mount a decent set of speakers on a door card!? You want to mount them on the door on a solid wooden mount, surely?

    • @CarAndMechanical
      @CarAndMechanical  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Danny SeventySeven your limited by the cars designs and just how much fabrication you want to put into things. If on a car like mine with door cards you'd want to mount to the door you'll need to allow for the window.
      I picked these speakers up on a great deal and they were a massive improvement over stock, I also have pioneers in the rear and this was about removing weak links in the chain.

    • @DannySeventySeven
      @DannySeventySeven 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the more I look into it the more difficult it looks to door mount. Those InPhase are pretty cheap speakers in any case so not too much issue doing it with those I suppose. But if you're going towards the higher end of things then it's pretty pointless mounting them on interior trim.

    • @CarAndMechanical
      @CarAndMechanical  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I now have a 3d printer and I'd honestly keep them in the door card but print an angled mount and also hook them up to a dedicated amp as they can take more then my HU can give.
      Also small things like foam to reflect sound back into the car more etc...
      If I was to go big sound I wouldn't want my car like a show car as I like that it looks stockish...means it gets left alone.

    please answer me can i built front bigger component speakers ?

    • @CarAndMechanical
      @CarAndMechanical  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Gaspar Ewald My 10cm speakers are actually undersize but large drivers and I got them super cheap. I think you can put in 5.25 inch or 13 cm speakers into them.
      Now you probably can go bigger then that but you don't need to, but you will need to make adapters potentially but also pay attention to back spacing. I think you have about 50mm space to the window (I cant remember so I suggest checking this!)
      Some good shallow 5.25's should be fine paired with some in the back and a sub.

      Gaspar Ewald How may doors is your model? Mine is a 3 door and I've done a hack on the speaker fitting in the rear that isn't ideal but 0 cost.

      Gaspar Ewald If you register for Vagcat there are good exploded diagrams on how it fits together. I do have a video on this planned but I'm only half way through my install (speaks done, but not sub build).Ideally you need a trim removal tool for this, but first take out the rear seat bench, the seat back can stay in but needs folding down.
      You need to get a trim tool behind the inside rear 1/4 panel, by the door is the best bet, and you pull it off. It will be on pop clips.
      The speakers are attached to these panels, from here replace but you will need an adapter or to make one using the old speakers, it is maybe a month or so away but I will put my video on this up.
      Also the panels/glue are a pain for the clips, the housing for the clips is in place with glue, I pulled this off! So had to reglue before putting the panels back in.
      If all goes well and no opps/annoying moments and you prepurchased adapters you can be done in 15-30 minutes.

      Nope, could be worth it as a check but just check the speaker back spacing.

    • @CarAndMechanical
      @CarAndMechanical  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Miguel Da Silva up do you really. I'm driving these through an aftermarket head unit that claims 45 watt per channel. I'll be doing an install later this year where I will amp the rears and a sub but front atm I will just power from the HU.

      5.25 I think up front and 6.5 in the back.
