It wasn't impulsive. Shooting the clerk had simply greater chance of being discovered during an autopsy than beating. So it was more calculated option. Even more "deliberate" would be to ensure that the clerk passed out because of asphyxiation due to the carbon monoxide. What I really love about Lalo is what he represents in the show. Jimmy's story is about morality, ambition, and temptation. Chuck is the perfect antagonist to the first half of Jimmy's story as that part was mainly about deontology (Chuck) vs. consequentialism (Jimmy). The second half is when Jimmy begins embracing his inability to resist temptation, continue using it for his ambitions, and accept his immorality. Lalo is the perfect antagonist for this part as he's sort of like the devil. Jimmy encountering Lalo and making deals with him is when Jimmy starts becoming the worst version of himself. He accepts what Lalo tempts him into, becoming a cartel lawyer. Helping Lalo made Saul Goodman's business boom, a business in Jimmy's current ambitions. And he ended up dropping his morality since he knew for a fact that the man he was willingly helping murdered a young innocent boy. Jimmy first tried crawling out of hell, but Chuck pushed him back in. Then Lalo, the devil himself, showed up and charmingly guided Jimmy further down. Bonus: And the last court scene of Jimmy is the idea of repentance, openly confessing all of his sins and doing whatever it takes to make sure he can never commit them again, to the point where he threw the rest of his life away and spend it in prison so he would be completely unable to conflict any harm to the innocent world. With that, he ended up being rewarded for his act of repentance, as he's surrounded by inmates that highly respect him, and has proven to Kim and Chuck that he can indeed change. Jimmy achieved salvation, and is most likely to finally live and rest in great peace, spending the rest of his life in heaven. And note that this happened at the very end of his long arc, showing us that it is never too late to change.

The kid was hired to be a body guard so it is his job to take a bullet for Lalo
He care's about them cause he's deeply angered when seeing they killed the old woman.

I don’t think the majority of people would intentionally use another person as a human shield, especially not a 17 year old kid they claim to care about.
@@c.f.rodgers7719 they would if their life depends on it
Of course you’d make one on Lalo Salamanca, You’re The Guy For This after all.
We can tell Lalo had the last laugh cuz he kinda kills Gus with the bell.
